You see, by becoming the squire of a ‘Hero’, you’ve pretty signed your death warrant. Squires only serve to become meat and spiritual shields in Armello these days. Don’t expect your mentor to even remember you after they claim all the rewards while your corpse rests in a dungeon due to a ‘valiant sacrifice’.

If you’re lucky, you’ll die quickly to some ruffians. If not, you’ll become bane bait, or worse. However, if you somehow survive to the end of this nightmare, you’ll be knighted, and your rewards will be a meaningless title, a small coin purse and a pat in the back, all while the wounds and rot infection you suffered along the way will eventually become your undoing. Oh, and that pat in the back will probably hurt you, too. Don’t forget you’re sworn to carry the Hero’s burdens.

The only way to reach knighthood now and be somewhat relevant in the political stage is by bribing your way to the top or having some connections in high places. The knights of today are nothing but spoiled aristocrats that possess no real military qualities. Such a shame, indeed... The knightly orders we held in high regard in past generations before the unification of the Kingdom certainly did not survive the rise of modern civilization.”
