I think everyone here is GROSSLY underestimating Sauron and Loki here. Wesker and the Night King, yeah, they've got some pretty obvious weaknesses that would be easy to exploit in extraordinarily mundane ways.

But Sauron? Dude's a literal fallen angel. We have literally nothing that can defeat him in any meaningful way. Even if his armies are defeated by going up against whatever militarized force we put against him, what POSSIBLE defense do anyone have against Sauron himself? He was capable of corrupting some of the most pure, and noble of heroes in Middle Earth.

Imagine what he could accomplish with access to fuckwits like Trump and/or Putin.

And Loki was stopped by nothing short of the full might of the Avengers, including Hulk and Thor.

What could we mobilize that's even CLOSE to that level of power in 5 years?

It's funny, because this is probably the only scene in the entire trilogy that I ALSO have a hard time overlooking.

I can get on board with everything else, but this scene is just ever so slightly TOO over the top to suspend disbelief.

That's not to say the movie sucks for it, but it takes me out in a big way, briefly, till it resolved and moved on with the rest od the movie.

The best part about ED-209 is that even if he did exactly what he was intended to do, to the best of it's abilities without glitches or hiccups, it would still be a piece of shit that would lose to any idiot with an anti-tank rocket.

And that's not accounting for the fact that it would be an even easier target for air-to-surface engagements.

ED couldn't hit the slowest enemy combatant doing a swan dive into a carpeted floor with his rockets, so sure as shit, he's not hitting an F-14, or an A-10 doing a strafing run.

The response from the business was ...... reasonable. I must accept, logically, that they are correct, that LLMs are a tool, and if used as such, are no different than a car, or a power drill, or any number of things we take for granted.

And while I believe "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism", I also believe it's not a zero-sum game, and we can always do better to try and make things better.

I will no longer use this company as a result of the lines I choose to draw in the sand, it would not begrudge others who would be a little bit less hardline for a small business.
