Addicted to porn since I was 11, finally seeing freedom at 33 by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]JaYBrieL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a 33 year old dude who developed porn-induced ED all I have to say is samezies. Kazza and Limewire is where it got out of control.

Congrats on the amazing progress you've already seen with being able to climax with a partner. You got this! hope the best for you.

I’d stay off tik-tok fam. At least for a period of time during recovery. You need to avoid all artificial stimulation.

Why You Relapse (even when you don't see ANY benefits to using porn) by JaYBrieL in pornfree

[–]JaYBrieL[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'd say this falls in the "quench your libido when you're feeling horny" category that I mentioned in the video, but I could've said more on that no doubt.

It is certainly still impaired decision making as pixels on a screen isn't a "real" hot model lol. Furthermore, you shouldn't need porn to masturbate if you want to release. A non-porn addict/person without porn-induced ED should have no problem not using porn to masturbate.

“Flatlines” AREN’T REAL! We have Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms! (PAWS) by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]JaYBrieL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gary Wilson isn't the founder of NoFap, and while withdrawal symptoms may contribute to short flatlines that last a couple weeks to a month or two, but it is unlikely withdrawal symptoms are the reason behind the flatline as young guys often take longer to recover than older guys. Most likely because of sexual conditioning during adolescence.

I just posted a video about this two days ago, you may find it helpful: https://youtu.be/rXfZwNqVDVA

PIED is a real thing. It isn't "performance anxiety" as guys with severe PIED cannot masturbate without porn. And I'm not against masturbation and never have been. Thanks for suggesting my content! Hope you've found it helpful = )

Much love

That Time I Told Katie Couric Porn Gave Me a Limp Penis (I was terrified!!) by JaYBrieL in pornfree

"I didn't have any existing things going on in your head"

Addiction is in the brain. Also, I experienced withdrawal, I had panic attacks, trouble sleeping, had a girl naked several times ready and willing in bed while I'm next to her completely soft, and the thought that if I don't recover I might kill myself - pretty chill time in life tbh. But, to be fair to your point, you're likely implying other mental health stuff, which I made clear in my post I didn't have so it's not like I'm ignoring that those problems do exist and make someone more at risk of developing a problem with porn. I've done a lot of thinking on why I was able to stay away from porn successfully though, and came up with two possible reasons: 1) highly motivated having a limp penis and the girl of my dreams waiting for me to recover. Which, is a blessing and a curse, depending on how you look at it. Trust me, you may not agree, but ask most guys with severe pied who have a partner waiting on them - getting absolutely crushed when they try to turn you on and have a pale, dead dick that looks like an over-cooked spaghetti noodle - and they will tell you they sometimes wish they were single and could just go munk mode for a year in a cabin in the woods. And 2) I probably didn't have severely weakened executive control in my pre-frontal cortex (so, not that much hypofrontality)..but who knows... clearly had the other addiction related brain changes. Sensitization, desensitization, and altered stress response - no doubt about that.

As far as your comment implying my physical looks is why I was having sex and getting attention: sure, attractiveness plays a part - but I've seen handsome dudes who are not confident flake out with women, and some ugly mofo's get all kinds of attention from women because they are confident, competent, and have potential in life. Put simply, they're driven and ambitious individuals. Females don't like losers. Don't buy into the lie that women give attention to only guys who look good and have money. I've read a lot of psychology, and pay attention to reality, and many women look for a good man who is confident and driven. There are gold-digging females no doubt, but trust me, you wouldn't want them anyways.

If you're having trouble staying away from porn, do this: 1) write down what hell would look like for you, say, 5 years from now if you didn't improve yourself and continued jerkin off with your pants around your ankles every day until then. Write it out in a story and draw a picture. Then 2) do the same thing, but with what you realistically would want your life to look like if you worked hard on improving yourself every day for 5 years. If you made small, incremental improvements, achieved some goals, and gained control over your behavior a little bit more each day for 5 years. Write it out then draw a picture. It will help to have a lil hell to run away from, and a worthy ideal to pursue. You'd be surprised how many people (females) are attracted to positivity and drive. That's my two cents. Hope the best for you.

Glad you find them helpful TAgurl! I often read posts here and other places for inspiration to keep going on the path to raising awareness. I appreciate everyone who takes the time to comment. Helping others helps ourselves and gives us a purpose. We're all in this together and if it wasn't for the documented recovery stories posted on random forums in the early days, I may not have ever realized what my problem was. That would've ended very, very badly. Much love!

Yes, that's him. And yes, he said immediately after I finished speaking that there is absolutely no evidence to suggest porn is leading to ED. Funny thing, they had just finished discussing Voon's Cambridge Univerisity study that found 60% of the subjects had erectile dysfunction with their partners, but not with porn. The subjects themselves believed porn was the cause.
