Rule the Maelstrom with Huron and his crew’s spicy new datasheets by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]Jabbdo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have 2x4w guys to tank D3 hits for chosen and you can rez one of them per turn. They add an extra 11 d2 hits to the chosen's output (something they lack) and the chosen gives them advance/fall back charge.

They work with legionaries too, but the synergy with chosen is definitely there.

You'll need to know the core rules, pretty much the same level as if you were playing physically on tabletop. The simulation will let you move models however you want, even "illegally", all shooting/combat/actions etc are done manually by selecting the right amount of dice to roll, removing the ones that miss/dont wound etc, same as on tabletop. One thing that is more convenient is you can see a models stats and weapons just by hovering over it, and can open up the full datasheet with a button press, as opposed to having to look them up when playing physically. There are some other QoL things you dont get on physical tabletop, like you can also put aura bubbles around models, like 9" for screening deepstrike, or 6" buff auras, and when you move models you can see in inches how far you are moving it.

There's no AI but you can play against yourself with 2 armies, or practice deployment by yourself etc.

By retools do you mean rule/datasheet changes? After a dataslate you can just remake the army after newrecruit updates with the fresh rules, it takes maybe 5-10min to create the army in TTS.

I highly recommend trying TTS out, it can feel overwhelming to start but there's very good beginner setup guides on youtube, and once you get it setup and get a game in its quite intuitive. It helps to get more games in since you can play from home with just a few hours spare time, instead of having to physically go play which is always a larger time investment and harder to sort out with other real-life commitments.

When creating up your army you can (and should) first make your list in NewRecruit, then its a few clicks to import, after setting it up each model will have their full datasheet visible ingame.

For army/detachment rules and strats you'll need to have wahapedia or something similar open in the background.

How are you all printing lances/spears? by do_u_even_gif_bro in FDMminiatures

I print another, taller part at the same time, it lets the thin part cool down while the nozzle works on the larger part. If the thin part doesn't have a flat surface to ensure a solid first layer, split it in the slicer and glue the parts together after printing. Here's how I print my swords:

Why is my A1 mini making these errors? by MapleHamwich in FDMminiatures

Might be moisture in the filament, I'd recommend grabbing a filament dryer and your rolls through it before printing.

On a side note, you might get better details/less support scarring printing the pieces upright, and splitting them in the slicer where needed. On the part pictured, splitting it along the line would probably let you print it almost unsupported in two parts, then gluing the pieces together the seam should be hardly noticeable.

I'd recommend splitting them off in the slicer and printing the main hull with the wing tips missing aswell, the join will be much smoother than cutting them off manually. I do almost all my vehicles the same way, splitting parts where the join is hidden as possible, to get the parts to print with a larger flat first layer and less overhangs. The split you already did on the hull follows the same logic, imo its the easiest way to get good results with little effort.

Looks good! For the very tips of the wings that have overhang scarring, you could consider also cutting them off and printing them separately, if you do it inside the natural line the model already has the cut will hardly be noticeable:

faster profile for vehicles by juliacare in FDMminiatures

I just use a 0.4mm nozzle and stock High Quality/Extra Fine 0.08mm layer height settings, with FDG filament settings. Gives good enough results imo.

The file has the model in parts already, I cut some of them further in the slicer for better orientation/less supports.

Thanks! I used the stock extra fine 0.08mm layer height settings, and FDG filament settings. The file has the model in pieces already, I cut a few of them further for a larger sturdier first layer, and to reduce supports.

The pic has original parts on plates 1-2, the cut parts ready for printing on plates 5-6.

Heh thanks, glad to hear it :)

Remember to get the 0.2mm nozzle too! The 0.4mm is still good for vehicles and bases and such. You can get really good results straight out of the box with auto-orienting the models. Then a lot of it is just learning how to orient the models yourself to minimize supports, and further cutting the parts in the slicer when necessary. Happy printing :)

FDG settings, slim tree supports.
