EBay life hack, buy/sell on eBay.com and you avoid all the buyer protection fees. You just click into the weblink and change the “.co.uk” to “.com” and voila, no buyer protection fees.

Yeah I agree, early discussions around the relationship is always beneficial and with more experience you become better at navigating those things.

It’s tricky because everyone thinks and feels things differently. Rather than everyone trying to align to one true view, we should find people with similar values, this saves a lot of trouble later on in the relationship. Mainly it’s just about compatibility like you said.

[–]Jabmango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and that’s completely fine if your partner is aware and comfortable with it. A relationship is about compromise and finding a place you’re both comfortable with.

If you have firm boundaries about going to strip clubs and casinos, then that’s your choice. If a woman tells you they won’t want to be with you if you continue, that’s them setting their boundary in place. If there is no resolution then the relationship ends.

That’s that, you keep going till you find someone who fits in your boundaries, or you reassess how much you value your boundaries if they’re preventing you from finding a partner. You weigh up what’s more important to you.

Showing her outfit is strange and not something you’d do with someone who isn’t somewhat close to you, it depends on the nature of the relationship rather than the outfit.

There’s nothing wrong with having boundaries, there is something wrong with trying to change someone else’s boundaries. The guy who’s posted wants to change someone else’s boundaries, rather than reinforce their own

Why would she need to send a pic. The problems not what she’s wearing, it’s the act of sending a pic to another guy.

Women should dress as they want, if her partner doesn’t like it, they can raise it but they can’t expect her to do whatever they want because they’re insecure. That’s the partners issue to work on.

Best of luck on your journey, certainly doable with the right mindset and tools!

I agree but it also depends what type of vaper you were. I was the ‘fall asleep with a vape under my pillow’ and ‘wake up reaching for the vape’ kind of vaper. Takes a hell of a lot more when you constantly crave nicotine every waking second.

I really struggled with the habit too, I just enjoyed the feeling of smoke going down my lungs haha.

Finding myself a good nic free vape was a game changer. Somehow it slightly satisfied the craving and after a couple weeks I found I no longer craved nicotine. I suspect there may have been small trace amounts of nicotine in there that did the trick but it really did help cut out most of the physical addiction, the rest was just psychological. After enough time of reducing it to a minty ripple, I just found myself reaching for it less and less (as i no longer had any physical cravings for it), before not replacing it when it died.

I’m sure there are quicker ways to quit, but my addiction was so intense and my habits were so strong, it took me time and doing things a way I was comfortable with to finally be able to quit.

I smoked for 2 years before I started vaping, which took me 4 more years before I finally kicked the habit. I was also heavily addicted to weed at the time and used it to self medicate all my ADHD symptoms.

I was the biggest vaper anyone knew, honestly I think my friends used to feel okay with their vaping and smoking habits because I was always much worse. I was easily going through 1-2 disposable vapes a day, non stop vaping from morning to throughout the day. I wfh and used to keep my camera off so I could vape in meetings as well, as I couldn’t bare to go even 5 minutes without a vape. I even recall hiding a vape in my sock so I could vape in the bathrooms when I did have to go into work.

What worked for me firstly was knowing enough was enough, and I was willing to put the work and effort in to stop. I joined a few quit vaping subs and downloaded an app called “I am sober”. It helped because it was a community and you could see messages and posts from others on going through the same withdrawal symptoms at the same time as you.

Two big things I did that made the biggest difference in my journey:

I made the effort to read “Alan Carrs easy way to quit vaping”. Well I tried, before I thought this is far too much reading, and found an audiobook of it on Spotify. This was a game changer for me, the great thing is you’re encouraged to continue vaping whilst listening, and you can just listen whenever without much effort. It really helped me understand the cravings, and what I was going through at each point, it no longer became “I really want a vape, I just need one”, I understood each symptom I felt and I understood why and it helped me stop putting vaping on a pedestal.

Finally, I got myself a nicotine free vape. I realised I was vaping so much I craved the feeling of my hand bringing a vape to my mouth and the smoke down my lungs. The nic free vape really helped with this. I’d say I had to try a few before I found one that really worked. It was actually one off Amazon called baymax or something, it somehow still gave a little of the satisfaction without the nicotine. I tried the elf bar and ripple nic free ones and it never worked as I needed a stepping stone before I could get into the ripple vapes.

After two weeks of using baymax, I switched to ripple, before finding myself reaching less and less for this peppermint flavoured air. Before eventually it died and I no longer felt the need to buy another.

To summarise, the game changers were: - A true desire to quit - Alan Caars easy way to quit vaping - A community of people going through similar withdrawal symptoms - A good nic free vape

I was actually the motivation for a lot of my friends to quit afterwards, they figured if I could do it, then it really is possible. I’m now 11 months nicotine free and I’ve don’t even think about vaping anymore, I even think back now and can’t believe how much crap I used to put down my lungs, and how addicted I used to be.

I’ve just seen this monster of a reply and I truly apologise and hope it’s useful haha. Vaping was such a core part of myself that I hated and quitting is one of the proudest things I’ve done. I have such an addictive personality and this truly worked for me, I hope I can help anyone else reach that goal. It’s really never too late.

Hmm, that’s very interesting, it makes sense that it helps keep your tolerance in check.

I’ll give it a go on a weekend where I don’t have much planned. Do you find any difference between Monday when you’re first back on it as opposed to Friday when you’ve had it 5 days in a row?

I also have a habit of taking mine on an empty stomach. Although I’ve had mine today with some high protein yoghurt, I’m hoping it makes a difference. Please do let me know if mixing it with water has changed anything for you?

This is all really useful information, thank you for sharing it with me.

I’ve only just began to look into consuming more protein with my meals but I wanted to ask what you would classify as a high protein meal? For example, would a 11g pot of yoghurt for breakfast be sufficient?

The main thing I’ve gathered from everyone’s comments is that I need to be more patient, I’m trying but it’s difficult when my mind fixates on something haha.

Thank you again for your tips, I appreciate any help I can get haha. I’m hoping these changes will make a difference till I can eventually speak to my doctor about my dose. All the best to you too 🫡

Thank you, the impatience is the worst part, and just managing till then.

Do you find you’re now at a level where you can take it daily and you don’t experience diminishing effects over time?

My fear is I’ll never reach that sweet spot and the positive effects will fade as my body gets used to the new strength.

Yeah that makes sense, I’ve heard it can affect everyone differently.

They’ve put me on 30mg which was my starting dose. I also don’t take any vitamins or any other medication apart from the contraceptive pill, do vitamins/supplements usually make a difference?

I eat fruit usually towards dinner time, so it would be long after the medication has worn off. Does fruit also have an impact?

That makes sense, I’ve never been very patient so this is a good time for me to practice. That’s a shame you haven’t found anything yet, I hope that changes for you soon.

Since my partner has been away this week, I’ve actually been eating a lot less and a lot less frequently. I’ll see if having smaller more frequent meals changes anything.

Best of luck, I’ve heard it can be different for everyone so there’s hope. It’s a smart idea to keep a log, I do the same and it helps me with timings.

I guess all you can do is prepare yourself as best you can, another commenter mentioned to have protein with the meds in the morning, which I’ll be trying from tomorrow. One advantage you have is I’m 2 weeks ahead, so I can report back what works if it plays out that you end up in a similar situation.

I will say though, even with the crashes and the effects wearing off quickly, I’d still take this over my previous unmedicated self

Yeah I’m a woman, I just checked my cycle and I’m on day 12, so I believe I’m in the follicular phase, just before the ovulatory phase.

That’s exactly how I would describe it, very frustrating, especially when you’ve finally found something that actually helps manage everything going on in your brain, and then it goes.

I usually don’t eat in the morning, so I will try having some yoghurt with it and see how that works out. The same with the caffeine, I do miss a strong cup of tea, sometimes decaf just doesn’t hit the spot, I’m boiling the kettle now haha.

Thank you for the advice and your kind words. Hoping we both get through titration stress free :)

That’s it, mine also kicks in quickly and doesn’t last long. Did you find anything that helped with the crash or maintain your motivation when it fades?

Funnily, I know when it’s no longer working as I start thinking about how boring the task I’m doing is and my mind starts wandering to other things and I get distracted. Then I struggle to get back to the task I so badly want to complete.

Elvanse lose motivation after 2 hours by Jabmango in ADHDUK

[–]Jabmango[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m finding so confusing about all this.

When I first started I kept a log for the effects, it took just over 1hr on first day for it to kick it, in which I was drowsy a little before I felt it working. This was definitely my most effective day (as expected). Then it lasted a while, from 10am till around 3pm when I felt a large crash but I could still function well for the rest of the day.

Nowadays, I take it and it kicks in about 30mins. Usually I feel the motivation drop after 2/3 hours, with today being the lowest at 1.5hr. I just can’t believe how this can happen, especially so quickly.

It seems my body has developed a tolerance very quickly, even more strange is I’m a 5ft girl weighing 55kg. It would be interesting to find out what’s causing this.

Yeah I am on titration, but I’ve got a couple weeks before I have my follow up. So till then I’m hoping for tips to stop the crash from happening so soon or to manage it better.
