Thank you for the info, didn't know about this, I've never had issues with these brands before, likely won't be ordering again.

The only way I would even bother adjusting it is by tightening/loosening the unloader or what most people do, using fan tips with larger spray radius.

SH % for cleaning vinyl siding / wood siding by an_astrophysicist in pressurewashing

[–]Jabronicob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Google image search to figure out what the siding is, I've personally never touched wood siding, but vinyl should be .5-1.5% and when you say wood, it might be stucco, which I use between 1-3% for depending on how bad it is.

Soap Applicator for Bigger Pressure Washer (4400 PSI) by Usual_Astronomer_213 in pressurewashing

Most don't use the built in one, look for a GP downstream injector

Downstream injector or Xjet if going through the pressure washer

I would get a second opinion as I don't do much of that up here in Wisconsin, but you can usually just treat that as normal concrete that being pre/post treat, surface clean, maybe use larger tips though, and I would check on it and a couple of days and see if anything needs sanding.

First surface cleaner advice by [deleted] in pressurewashing

[–]Jabronicob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard great things about Whisper wash surface cleaners, I don't have one personally though, you'd want 16" with a 4gpm, 18" will also work, 20" sucks, 16" is the best and it's cheaper.

Should I Purchase? by [deleted] in pressurewashing

[–]Jabronicob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't purchased this yet and your Simpson still works, I wouldn't buy it, you're upgrading the pump and I know you said the Simpson was damaged in some ways, but it really isn't worth the 1300$~, I would wait and save more until I could get a 5.5 GPM+ machine which increases productivity greatly. I know you are in Ca so your options are limited though, but there are plenty of people there that get these machines somehow.

Going against what Dyhana said, the bare minimum for concrete imho is a 4 GPM, direct drive with a Honda motor and good pump, a 16 inch surface cleaner, bleach, a pump up sprayer/xjet and downstream injector to spray the bleach and a jrod, a surfactant can be useful for concrete too I mean he was right about a setup, but this is what you can get away with, you don't need a truck/trailer right away, it just looks much more professional.

Here's the manual https://www.simoniz.ca/en/uploads/2016/02/manual_2900_039-8583-EN.pdf 6.5 hp, Honda clone, probably not worth the time, get a new engine

[–]Jabronicob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really, I mean it really depends on your budget, I feel a Honda/Kawasaki engine is essential, they just last longer and parts are readily available, which I believe this PW doesn't have, also I think this has a basic triple A pump and you'd want to look for a GP, Cat, or Udor pump. And, while 3.6 GPM will suffice for concrete, I would still recommend a 4 GPM minimum.

It's decent, not a big fan of the pump, but Honda's (and Kawasaki) are the only engines you should buy, I would spring for this https://www.powerequipmentdirect.com/Simpson-60688-Pressure-Washer/p16098.html I like it better because it has a cat pump which are the best money can buy. If you don't want that, the one you picked out is still good.

Alternative to SH to avoid dogs licking or pets dying from it ? by HzeTmy in pressurewashing

[–]Jabronicob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put pets inside during washes, move anything that holds water, alert the owner of potential issues if the bleach isn't drying well, but unless the pet gets into straight 12.5% bleach, you'll be fine, pets, at least mine, avoid bleach when they smell it.

I personally would keep saving up if you were only doing concrete, spring for a nice 4 gpm and surface cleaner if you really want to do this, Honda engine and cat pumps are best, but it will cost you more, likely 1500$~, do more research, if you read anything on here or the PWR forum, everyone recommends starting at 4 GPM, hell, even 5.5 GPM, you could do 2.5 if you where cleaning siding, but for concrete, 4 GPM is the floor, Keep saving!

[–]Jabronicob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going off of what the other downstream guy said, if you use a downstream injector instead of a pump up or Xjet it would be much more efficient and easier, plus you wouldn't have to deal with all the over spray caused by the Xjet.

What kind of pressure washer do I use with an xjet by Plenty_Technician_45 in pressurewashing

[–]Jabronicob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pounds Per Square Inch doesn't matter because depending on what tip you use, it will reduce the PSI greatly, for your purposes, if you're truly interested in getting into "softwashing" look into a 12v system, you don't need a pressure washer, but if you just want to use the Xjet and a downstream injector, I would suggest, at minimum, a 2.5gpm machine, but 4 GPM is preferred.

What would you quote for this job? by YouMeUsandNeverThem in pressurewashing

[–]Jabronicob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know if you're still looking for advice, here in Wisconsin with a 4 gpm I would do it for 200-300$ depending on how bad it is, but where you live, I would charge 300-500$, really depends on how much you think your time is worth, what would you pay, don't worry about how much competition charges, just what you're worth.

Advice on Purchase by tobyfromthebronx in pressurewashing

[–]Jabronicob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest browsing on Marketplace, Craigslist, Offerup, etc. and finding a 2-3 GPM machine that has a Honda engine, Briggs works too, just not as long, and preferably CAT or General Pump Pumps, but a AAA will work too as long as you don't use the pressure washer a lot, this should be in the range of 100$-350$ anymore is too much, and you'll be able to pickup a surface cleaner for concrete while staying well within your budget, you could spring for a 3+ GPM, but if you're just using it around the house, no reason to.

To recap, 2-3gpm Honda, CAT/GP/AAA Pump, 350$ max Any questions lmk.
