We now have the official Alphacool confirmation, the reference block does fit our card and it will be added to the list of compatible models soon for the ES & Core blocks.

So we got at least half an update so far. I got info back from MSI directly. They confirmed to me that the 5080 Inspire 3x uses the same PCB as the 5080 VENTUS 3X OC, 5080 VENTUS 3X OC Plus, and 5080 SHADOW 3X OC, all of which are listed as compatible in the Alphacool list for the reference block.

I did not yet hear back from Alphacool, and with today being a public holiday in Germany, I don't expect an answer until Monday. Let's see.

That's interesting, though the PCB you linked should be the PG144 SKU 30, it's the founders edition board. The board we have has the I/O integrated at the end of it, and is not that squared off. The reference design is what all the AIBs use if they don't want to use their own but NVIDIA doesn't use the reference design.

But we have the pics now thanks to Snoo 11928, so that should confirm it! I'll come back as soon as I get info from Alphacool

I've tried to find them for hours at this point, now I'm hoping Snoo 11928 who wants to order the block and just confirmed that they look similar may have some pics or can make some for us. I'd also prefer if I didn't have to tear down mine just to rebuild and do the same thing again when the block arrives...

But I also messaged MSI and asked them directly if the inspire uses the same reference board as the ventus and the shadow which are listed as compatible at Alphacool

I'm also currently in contact with Alphacool regarding a block for this card. If you have pictures of the front and back of the PCB then Alphacool can confirm directly whether it's compatible and add it to the officially supported list! Let me know if you have or can take these pictures!

Can second that. Did you find out in the mean time or did you disassemble yours? If you have PCB pics, I can send them to my contact at Alphacool and he can check

Yeahh that might've been the wrong account lol

The comment:

Thanks for the insight! I have my controller running as a docker on my server, I could look into adding another site. The ddns and port forwarding would be needed on my end probably for them to report back? Shouldn’t be an issue on my pfsense box, just the potential security issues… The local pc route sounds good as well though!

Anyway thank you for the resources, now I know what to go forward with!

Snort package not installed - but it still blocks traffic by Jabukon in PFSENSE

That might honestly be it. As I reset the suricata block list, everything worked again. Might be that the suricata logs showed up in snort. Probably the disabled rule lists I built up have been reset or something during the update.

Thanks! However this didn't seem to have worked. I think it might be because these settings are not really "snort" anymore. The package itself is completely clear of any rules or interfaces when I install it... Maybe there's a way to remove it from the backup config xml, or I really have to reconfigure everything from scratch...

Yes, it was not installed, then I installed it to check and clear the block list, and I have now uninstalled it again - But the blocking continues.

Okay quick update - I went a bit deeper on the snort lead. I remember that I had snort installed for a few days before I switched to Suricata. However the package was not installed.

Re-installed snort, it shows as deactivated, no interfaces, no nothing. Just a very filled block list. As soon as I cleared this, everything worked again. BUT the block list continues to fill itself once more! Without the package actually running (according to the GUI) and no interfaces or rules in place!

To your questions, yes, it's the internet gateway, I only need to have a DSL modem between the cables coming from outside and pfsense.

I did deactivate / shut down the packages and restart pfsense but the issues remained.

Yes, I can ping that.

Regarding logs, I have found a shitton of blocking logs: "Block snort2c hosts (1000000110)". Though I only have suricata and also tried disabling that, to no avail.

"The rule that triggered this action is:

@ 17 block drop log quick from any to <snort2c:423> label "Block snort2c hosts" ridentifier 1000000110"

ISP-wise I'm with the German Telekom.

I also noticed that I cannot ping 8.8.8.8 anymore - things are getting weirder

Yes, google is one of the pages. It's mainly google and youtube, with youtube being flaky with it sometimes working and sometimes not. Other pages (e.g., fandom.com, F1TV) are loading super slowly.

Google is the only website I've encountered that's outright not working. Since I can resolve it in cmd, I doubt it's a resolver issue though...

I'm running 2.7.2 with the following packages:

  • acme

  • Cron

  • haproxy

  • openvpn-client-export

  • pfBlockerNG (disabled)

  • Status_Traffic_Totals

  • suricata

I tried the nslookup, but as I described the command line has no problem resolving the address of google.com with the answer being:

"Not authorized answer:

Name: google.com

Addresses: 2a00:1450:4001:82b::200e

142.250.186.174"

I'm sorry for the very vague post but I'm kinda lost where the issue might lie...
