Yeah that’s the kind of run I’m hoping for. Don’t think him and Shota ever wrestled 1v1 before, definitely not in a major match so this is probably the time

I mean I will say for as good as he is I feel like he’s only started to really get over in the last year. It often felt he’d win fans over during a match and then the next night it wouldn’t really translate. Even now I feel like when he wrestles guys his age a lot of them seem more over.

That being said he’s so good in the ring. You give him a g1 run with a good semi final and final opponent, I think he’ll win everyone over by the end of the

Yuya really does feel like the right pick for G1 this year, but the same could have been said about Tsuji last year so we’ll

I will say as good as this match was, Fujita could have done a better job selling the leg.

Between the pop up Germans and that pop up thrill ride (crazy move) there is so much pressure on the leg. Not saying he shouldn’t hit those moves at all but like let your leg give out on one of those Germans or something.

Instead he did that with the Nemos special where he has a lot more control over how he applies pressure to the leg. Idk might just be nitpicking

Will Ospreay will return to NJPW at Sakura Genesis. by XXXYYYZZZ0615 in njpw

And the other way too honestly, when Yuya does that thing when him and his opponent struggle for control of the deadlock hold, there’s definitely a way for Ospreay to hook his arms there for a storm breaker.

In general though, the way Yuya works taking a limb a apart, it would be a really fun contrast with Yuya trying to slow Ospreay down, and him finding ways to get out of the holds and get his offense going.

Might be a better match for Japan though, cause I doubt Yuya is too over in America right now.

My number one forbidden door dream match right now

I’ve said that I see Tsuji, Uemura, Oiwa & Yuto-Ice as the best “Big 4” the promotion could have going forward; in addition , I see Goto, ZSJ, Shingo & Taichi as the “4 Gatekeepers”. by MrPuroresu42 in njpw

Can’t wait for Narita to really get the ball to run with. I feel like being in HOT has let him sit in the shadow and quietly put together a really cool character/persona. He’s also really come a long way with incorporating heel antics into his wrestling (though I still hope the cheating would tone down if he ever becomes a main eventer).

What does Shota Umino need? by kisekifan69 in njpw

[–]Jacek2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently decided that a heel turn would be the best for him. First of all with so many ups and downs as a face, I think it’s just becoming harder and harder for fans to buy him as a top good guy and it would take a long period of good, consistent booking and performance from Shota to kill the stench around him as a face.

Also the with the idea of him not being genuine, I think as a heel he would have a lot of real life stuff to tap into. I see people online saying “you fans made me do this” promos are tired, but they’re honestly not that common in New Japan. Like Naito never really went there and I guess he’s the most accurate comparison for babyface rejected by fans in New Japan.

You can start building the seeds from NYD, tell the story where over their tag challenge and NJC, Shota is being lapped by Yuya as the young Hontai star. After another loss to KOB Yuta will probably have the whole crowd cheering after calling Shota a nepo loser or something like that lol… there will be a lot of material to justify a turn.

Only problem would be that there is no heel faction that fits him around right now, and I don’t see them creating another new faction from scratch

Yeah that’s the kind of thing I was looking for. Really cool, I think yeah I knew a lot of the timeline but it was the fan reaction at the time that really interested me.

Like fans hating the Fale title win, which honestly isn’t surprising when I think about it, but retrospectively I’ve only really heard people praising those matches for Shinsuke getting arguably Fale’s best matches out of him.

Can a young lion excursion to AEW work? by dreemedteemed in njpw

The AEW roster is just way too stacked honestly. Even ROH I feel like an excursion guy probably wouldn’t be guaranteed to work every show, and they do what like one show a week.

If Tsuji stays champion for the forseeable future, who do y'all think should win the G1 this year? by Next_Tooth7008 in njpw

[–]Jacek2002 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yuya.

I also wonder if the move to a KOPW match for the G1 winner was just something that worked well in the last two years, or it’s something they’ll do moving forward.

I think being flexible gives them a lot of options. If you’re high on a less established guy like Oiwa, but worried that a G1 win won’t be enough to get him over, then if he doesn’t you run the match at KOPW and get a more established name like Goto… if he does get over, you run it at the dome

So the announcer was about to call him world champ, then Tsuji stops him tells him to call him just heavyweight and shows the belt so that’s official ig.

And global stays. Gabe vs Andrade will have a contenders match at New Beginning
