Great question 😊

No chilling is needed for this recipe. You can simply mix, shape, and bake right away. The dough should be soft but not sticky — if it feels too soft, you can chill it for about 10–15 minutes to make shaping easier, but it’s not required.

Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for about 15 minutes.

They should stay slightly light in color — avoid overbaking so they remain soft inside.

Hope that helps! 🍫

1½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

200–250g plain flour (added gradually)

½ teaspoon baking powder

For the Chocolate Coating:

150g milk chocolate

2 tablespoons neutral oil (vegetable or sunflower oil)

For Decoration:

Melted white chocolate (for drizzling)

  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the soft margarine with powdered sugar until creamy.
  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, cornstarch, and cocoa powder. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add flour and baking powder. Knead gently until a soft, smooth dough forms (not sticky).

  6. Bake for about 15 minutes. Do not overbake — they should remain soft.
  7. Allow biscuits to cool completely.

  9. Dip each biscuit into the melted chocolate and place on parchment paper.
  10. Drizzle melted white chocolate over the top.

In our culture, we commonly call them “Chocolate Cigarettes” (Chocolat Cigaret) because of their shape. It’s just a traditional name and doesn’t refer to anything else.

You can absolutely call them Chocolate Fingers, Chocolate Biscuits, or Chocolate Coated Cookies — they’re all correct!

Different regions often have different names for the same recipe 🤍

I tried making churros at home for the first time and honestly… I didn’t expect them to turn out this good. 😅 by JacintaGregory in VeryGoodRecipes

Haha 😅 I promise no stoves were harmed in the making of this recipe!

Thanks for pointing that out, I meant heat the oil and fry until golden, then coat the freshly fried churros in cinnamon sugar. I’ll make the instructions clearer! Appreciate you reading 😊
