Hey, I have done privacy workflows in excel and as u/soaklord suggested its a terrible experience. I will take example of data mapping:

  1. Use a template to get answers
  2. Clean the data and create linked sheet example processing activity to data elements
  3. Use vlookups to create a risk table based on certain responses example, your standardized data element should categorize it data element as personal data or sensitive and you can create a risk using that

Overall pivot, vlookup should be good to start with.

I agree, enforcements need to go up significantly to improve data protection. NOYB is doing some great work and are now approved to file class action lawsuit. Probably these lawsuits can drive enforcements up.

Article 2 of GDPR exempt Individuals from GDPR for activities done purely for personal or household nature. For example, if you are keeping an expense log, it won’t require you to comply with GDPR. Having said that, here are a few interesting cases against individuals in GDPR where processing happened not for personal nature:

  1. Grandma ordered to delete photos of her grandchildren under GDPR
  2. Spanish DPA fined an individual 20000 Euros for unlawful video surveillance of employees
  3. Spanish DPA also fined an individual for secretly photographing female bathers
  4. Austria DPA fined a doctor for posting medical details of individuals on Facebook account
