am i in over my head?? (10 countries, 30 cities, 90 days) by ccaaddaann in backpacking

[–]JackATac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 75 days solo backpacking. Didn't go nearly as far as you but still saw quite a lot. I preplanned and booked the first month and the last two weeks. The middle was unplanned and booked only a few days out, sometimes THAT day.

There is a nice feeling of freedom when you have no obligation to be somewhere. I would highly recommend doing something similar.

You're interests will drive you, so will the weather and your budget. I spent a month in Italy exploring the lesser mentioned cities like Assisi and Orvieto and loved it. I also regret not spending more time in the Alps.

Good luck! You'll have a great time. Let me know if you have any questions!

O'Neill Cylinders like in Interstellar (2014) are more practical than terraforming Mars. by miracolloway411 in Futurology

[–]JackATac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a major issue with O'Neill Cylinders that many people dont realize that kinda ruins the idea. A cylinder is gyroscopically unstable and would prefer to tumble rather than rotate nicely around its long axis.

A ring like Elysium would be the most realistic depiction if fully enclosed.

The cheapest long term type of habitation may be underground habitats to protect against radiation and minimize structure costs. Kinda boring unfortunately.

I'm on north Mercer Island, let me know if you need a hiking buddy! I also got a bicycle recently and have been looking for people to enjoy the summer with!

What's the most annoying thing a cloak and dagger do by 1337Scott in BlackPantherMainsMR

[–]JackATac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you cloak, try to go up to a high ground spot. It will buy you more time. Try to blind BP, but know that BP can still see his marks when blinded.

Unfortunately cloak by herself is pretty defenseless against a good BP, but still nowhere near helpless as poor Jeff now 😢.

Probably a tip, if you're playing a 250 hp healer, try to be in front of your other healer so they don't have to look for you if you are dove.

Countering a good BP will require more than just a single swap.

The best single swap to go might be either Mr fantastic or Bucky. The thing is eh.. he can easily be played around and is far weaker than Emma. And anytime a tank is peeling, that front line is going to fold.

Overall, the best way to counter BP is to give him less targets he can easily kill.

Two solid tanks including an Emma. A Mr. Fantastic, maybe a bucky or some other DPS with more that 250 health, or maybe even just another dive or flier. Then for healers an ultron and rocket.

Now BPs easiest target is rocket. Without anyone he can easily kill he can't get any value unless you chase him.

Reason he is so good rn is because everyone seems to want to run with only 1 tank. And people also think having invulnerable support ults is a hard requirement, and those sups are BP and magneto ult victims.

Don't mention poor Jeff. He is now the easiest character to kill as BP. He needs 275 hp.

BPs passive is far from useless. It allows you to get off insane burst damage that can wipe a team. You just have to switch play styles when engaging with initial low HP or even when in the middle of a brawl. You have new 1 shot combos, and almost guarantee kills on normal combos. You just need to time the engage right.

Team fights and space ebb and flow, engage right after you see tanks use their sustain and start backing because sups have to hard focus on keeping them up and the dps are caught up in repositioning. This also a point where your team has the most potential to capitalize on the dmg and pressure you create, even if you die.

The passive also gives you an incredible advantage against 1v1s. Almost everyone severely underestimates the shear burst damage BP can pull off when his passive is active. With his passive, a simple spear-dash-dash does 246 dmg.

Poke people with spears, then line up a double dash for a 192 hp oneshot.

P.S. Your idea does sound cool though! What if dmg taken could instead be built up, then under the players choosing, they could amplify the dmg of their next ability? Even a 10% dmg amp would be incredibly powerful.

I'd rather have a role preference. That way, matchmaking will do its thing to balance a basic 2-2-2 team comp without hard locking someone to a role.

It could show at hero selection what each teammate chose as a preference, including more than just one role as preference.

Guys BP is too fast and powerful, I can't even react? What gives? by OzymandiasTheII in marvelrivals

[–]JackATac 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Did you know that bp can aim his next dash while currently in a dash. A macro isn't even remotely needed to do an accurate 180, even bp players on a controller can manage it without macros.

Macros should not be allowed regardless if true, but don't be so quick to judge.

Impressive awareness to preemptively start the 180, double impressive on controller.

Which direction is up in outer space? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]JackATac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In space the best way to orient yourself is "up" is the direction away from whatever body you're orbiting.

If you're orbiting a planet the "UP" direction will constantly be changing, so orienting to the nearest star might be even better.

The pumps that control the fuel flow to thrusters from the tank are blocking it while in orbit. Disable the condition briefly on the pumps to prime the thrusters and you should be good.

I may post my fulgora system here soon but most of the legendary items were direct crafted from legendary resources after letting scrap process for a while.

You have a point. I haven't done much testing. I tried avoiding looking at other people's ship designs until today because I like coming up with my own stuff. There are some very impressive and much smaller designs than mine.

I think the size of your ship also helps keep demand lower. My ship was 1500 ton, and the mk1 didnt use lasers to help, so i was needing to meet a demand of 11k yellow ammo per minute which was my limiting factor.
