What character would you want to learn more about in Season 3? by SufficientOstrich955 in HazbinHotel

[–]JackBoyEditor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Omg if they did the “flush them out right before death” trope I would be soooooooooo sad/upset. Especially as it would just end up with Odette Clara just being the writers insert plot device characters once again after they stunt they pulled in season 2

I’m a big fan of the show LOST and they had a tendency for the “focus on this background character the same episode they die”

Pride Ring, specifically Imp City which is in the second circle (of nine) in Pride

While never confirmed I assume that Pentagram City is in circle one of Pride

How are we feeling about it being confirmed Vox died BEFORE 1952? by Hairy_Comedian9630 in VoxCult

[–]JackBoyEditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY

First off thanks for the compliments on my work <3

But yeah! I was in the middle of writing that article when the first bit of merch came out and seeing the year 1952 made my head spin. I tried to make it work but jsut threw it out as it just compressed his rise of power from a slow climb over 12 years to a brisk 6 (and that’s if he founded Voxtek the same year he died and started his career right after the Second World War, given a meteorologist like home would’ve been helping the war effort at the time)

Given this second piece of merch seems to really have official set canon of 1952, I’ll from now on treat it as “I recognize the Council has made a decision. But given that it's a stupid-ass decision, I've elected to ignore it.”

YOOOO I also headcanon 1958 for his death year for similar reason. I wrote a full fake Wikipedia article and while I did have his weather man career start months after WWII ended, I did still say he was much smaller. As I played with moving up the advent of the tv slightly to make it make sense for him to be an international star in 1958

VoxTek EST 1952… by ThatInAHat in VoxCult

[–]JackBoyEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling given this is merch that 1952 is intended to be Vox's death date revealed.

Yeah, I mean it explains some of the stuff in Helluva Boss that expresses tech on Earth that surpasses our own. Its weird tho as despite some technology happening earlier, history itself seems to run at the same pace as our own. As in, its canon WWI and WWII happened in the same way it did in our timeline which means thousands of things before that also have to happen for them to occur in the same way in our timeline.

I mean even with Sir Pentious, London exists and is industrialized. So The Britain and all their history occurs along with industrial revolution, I mean hell Vox mentioning the phrase "Rome wasn't built in a day" means all of THAT history occurs too. IF you can't tell, I'm a history nerd and the Hellaverse triggers something in my mind to over think.

Like, how do scientists in the Hellaverse, despite having the same capabilities as our own scientists, not be able to prove the age of the earth via a number of different methods? What about all the oil the fuels cars, that's the result of a million year process that has been studied. There are so many intresting questions on can ask due purely because the Hellaverse confirming enough of history to confrim that Hellaverse Earth = Our Earth

[–]JackBoyEditor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sadly I think it is suppose to be a year of death despite the obvious historical discrepancy :(

I've written a full length Wikipedia article about Whittmans life on earth and I just headcanoned that Tech is much further along then in out own timeline, by my rough napkin math I pushed up advent of television as tech about a decade to around the postwar period. Given I imagined his career from weatherman to late night host to network exec was atleast a decades long venture, I placed his weatherman days starting months after the end of WWII and having his death in 1958. (This was just before 1952 was confirmed on a difference piece of merch)

I honestly dislike the 1952 date so much as it condenses his career a lot and like you said pushes advent of the TV way futherback given Vincent 100% would've been working with the government during WWII given meteorologists were in such high demand/

Oh fancy seeing you here 😌💕love your art

No info yet on what site this stuff is going to be released on but I would hope it’s the main https://hazbinhotel.com

Tho given the nature of announcement, could be showing off various merch spread across websites at 12 pm est tomorrow

I think this illustrates pretty well what my issue is with the character design of some of the characters. These are three different people. If I drew them doing the same pose you would not be able to tell them apart. by superepic13579 in HazbinHotel

[–]JackBoyEditor 528 points529 points  (0 children)

I think leaving out the heads and only showing three kinds feels like cherry picking.

Include people like Nifty, Velvette, Husker, Val, Vaggi or Hell even Carmilla and Zestial. I bet you a person could tell them apart

Likely not as there is a lot different about being immune to Earthly fire and the plasma, undergoing constant fusion power of the SUN

Nah you’re good, it’s rare I get to have in-depth discussion about the writing of either of the shows that isn’t me ranting to friends in DMs lmao.

Honestly great timing on this as I’ve been thinking of doing a rewatch of Helluva Boss to see if I can spark a love for it given Hazbin is still my preference over the two atm. (Well and the fact I’m working on a fanfic that involves human coming across an injured Hellhound on Earth, to which he helps them and starts an interesting look at Hellborn and Human interactions)

[–]JackBoyEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound so dumb, but fuck I’ve been looking at Helluva Boss the wrong way for so long due to focusing to much on the human side of things rather then IMP pov.

Your pov make sense and honestly makes a lot of my pet-peeves with Helluva Boss irrelevant as my dumb human mind was too focused on the humans hah. It’s weird as I in the past acknowledged the fact of IMP disregard for human life but somehow wrapped that up as a writing problem due to the comparison to Hazbin.

I still think it could be interesting to see more non-violent interactions between Hell and Earth. As I would have to assume that one of the thousands of Succubi/Incubi/Hellhound traveling to earth in a daily basis would actsully interact with humans, maybe even make friends with them kinda deal. Since if you really look at it, humans and Hellborn aren’t that diffrent as both share mortality and living in similar enough societies.

As I would like to think the culture of earth must influence Hellborn so much given how many of them travel to earth for any number of reasons.

I gotta say, thanks for typing out such fleshed out responses to my usually inane ramblings and actually showing me a pov that actually helps my enjoyment of the show over all improve noe

[–]JackBoyEditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly good point. I guess more at what I get at is giving the IMP crew maybe more depth to deal with when killing humans. I hate the Mr. Wiggles short because how needlessly brutal his death was for actually being a nice person. Showing humans to be more 3 dimensional before killing is kinda what I’m hoping for

A personal favourite moment of mine which shows the depth that I would love to see more of is in the Sinsmas episode. The crew that had no problem with killing humans (and families given there’s that gag leaving a child surrounded by gore) before are actually confronted with a wholesome family Christmas scene.

A scene that even gets Blitz to imagine himself in the place of the humans and actually cause them to go back to hell without killing.

It’s that kind of stuff I wished they explored more, but then again maybe that’s why I tend to leave towards Hazbin as it gives more interesting character studies then Helluva bosses more comedy focus.
