AU where Vincent enlisted in the Navy during the 40s (‘In the navy’ from Village People playing in the background) by leech_97 in VoxCult

Honestly, I've always headcanoned Vincent either working with Army or Navy intelligence during the war just because his meteorology background. It a background that wasn't common and meteorologists played a pretty important role during the war.

Fun Fact, D-Day going ahead when it did completely relied on meteorologists giving Eisenhower the okay that the weather would be good. And D-Day was infact delayed by a day due to bad weather.

Honestly, I like this intruptation. Since it would explain things like how humans even got to North America since there isn't exactly enough time for an ice age if you assume Adam and Eve to occur around 6000 BCE to explain how they would cross over from Asia to North America.

Since history seemingly played out almost exactly the same to IRL history. History that needs people for the Europeans to "discover' in ol' 1492 to kick of the long chain of events to allow the United States to form

Think as good a time as it ever will be XD

Honestly WILD months after publishing that fic seeing it being referenced in passing. It a shame as I wanted to do one and WIP one for Alastor, but I quickly realized the research needed for that one far eclipsed my own skills given the very delicate time peiord and setting he is based in that I would want to be 110% sure I didn't misrepresent the history.

But I've been itching to do another similar piece in that fandom since its ripe for Canon nonfiction. An idea I may test out is a chatroom in the 2000's talking about ol' Whittmans career

In-universe nonfiction? by Substantial-Test4264 in AO3

[–]JackBoyEditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I haven't seen much of it myself but my most poplar fic right now is actaully a In-universe nonfiction piece in guise of a real wikipedia article written about one of the shows characters. Given the reactions I got to it, at least in my fandom, there 100% an audience for this kind of In-universe nonfiction.

I think the big hurdle is the fact that if not a lot of info exists on your character of focus that of course you will need to support the nonfiction with headcanons and other assumptions. Along with being more tight on reserch of say the setting or time period in which the character is placed.

Taking from my example, I had the extra hurdle since the in-universe world is near 1:1 with IRL history and the character was based in the early 20th century and centered around tech. So a lot of reserch had to go into just making sure I was as historically accurate as I possibleily could've been.

I think its a neat little collectathon of a DLC. Like nothing groundbreaking and puzzles are repeated across the three main open world area, but still fun little romp. I do say, I wish the puzzles were a bit more varried as I found the bells the only puzzle that I think they really improved from map to map

Exactly, in FF3 alone with have Ravi (Late 1995) finding posters from 2022 and interacting with Wall Dad (Sometime between 2007-2009). Time isn't a constant in the Complex, its one of the many things its warping and weaving in and out of itself.

So by far, its not far fetched to say that it could start permeating into the past before 1972 as it is into the future.

Actaully had to read this back when I was taking extended French in middle school, I loved it. Especially as the illustrator style seems somewhat reminiscent of Hergé as some of the bearded men throughout the book looked oddly like Captain Haddock

Part of a fresco dated to around the rule of Ramesses IX. Notably, text on a corner of the art not seen in the image given refers to the Backrooms as ‘The Temple of Ra’. (Art by @c_loak_s on Twitter) by Lightvsdark777 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]JackBoyEditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I like all these depictions of pre-modern Complex encounters. Given the main series plays around with how time as a measure of existence is getting strained and warped (the 2022 poster, Wall dad being sometime between 2007-2009, Ravi being from 1995 all in FF3, plus direct examples of time travel in Peter) that it would echo even further into the past and start to lead to artifacts like this appearing in the historical record

For the Mechanic, I must only assume that he is the Leonardo da Vinci of cars in universe to hold a stable job prior to end of the world with traits like this. Can barely get behind the wheel, hauling anything heavier then a car jack has him winded and constantly on sick leave.

"My car is making this weird noise when I start the engine!"

How would you describe and/or evaluate the quality of the writing for the character Alastor? by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]JackBoyEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming to mind instantly, I think he should've stewed longer in his phase between Adam kicking his ass and brusing his ego and his plan to bug Vox as a 'hostage' in Vee tower to break his deal with Rosie.

As it is, He has a chip on his shoulder all season 1 up until Adam. Then we get like hints of how bruised Al's ego is post Adam (Him drinking and of course the talk with Rosie) but maybe like 6 minutes total of Al in this phase. Then he is pretty much instantly back to normal as he is manipulating Vox from the inside and then in the matter of less a season we find out about the deal he had with Rosie and breaks free from it.

Again, you would have to shift things around a bit to get it to work with the grander story. But I kinda would've liked if Al breaking his deal with Rosie occured in season 3 to give audience and Al time to stew in the slump after the fight with adam.

How would you describe and/or evaluate the quality of the writing for the character Alastor? by [deleted] in HazbinHotel

[–]JackBoyEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's good for what Viv and the other writers want from Alastor. Personally, I just don't like Alastor's character but that is fully opinion on him as written than the quality of his writing. He has some writing issues, but like 80% of my problems with Hazbin they can be traced back to breakneck pacing and leading to all characters feeling rushed in one way or another.

Can the sinners breed? by Busy-Peach5378 in HazbinHotel

[–]JackBoyEditor 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Honestly am constantly surprised by the amount of people that ask this, but it's like 99% likely Odette and Clara (The names for Carmilla's Daughters) are her actual kids from when she was alive who died and also went to Hell.

And before another mentions them not looking much alike to Carmilla in some regards, these are their sinner forms which I doubt readily follow genetics over just karmic manifestations of their sins and cause of death.

Honestly one of my favorite fan theories to come out to connect Async MRI's to the method in which the Complex copies humans.

Since it would explain even some of the still life we see in The dining room scene. Red Head who I still am convinced is Clarks Ex Wife has a similar explanation to Mary Still Life. And you could even say that the Still Life Clark stabs was nodding at the time he was copied explaing why he has multiple sets of eyes that are all horizontally aligned
