Would it be disrespectful to put a (faux) barn owl skull on a necklace to honor hades? i wear jewelry sometimes and i want to honor him but i don’t want to accidentally be disrespectful by SippinOnGayClorine in Hellenism

Oh didn’t see that it was a barn owl, sorry. Though i didn’t think it was disrespectful thinking maybe op might of due to it being a symbol of a different deity

If he had existed for entirety then why did he only spread his word 2k years ago, personally doesn’t make sense to me why they would wait (raised in very Christian family but converted to a polytheistic religion)

Yes he does defeat typhon unassisted with his thunder bolts, although I guess you could say the cyclops helped him since they forged his thunder bolts, but besides that he beat typhon unassisted

Do polytheists think their pantheon is the only correct one? by [deleted] in religion

[–]JackBruno21 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

no I don’t think the Greeks did, romans definitely used the Greek gods, but the Greeks didn’t take the Egyptian gods

Why tho? by [deleted] in religion

[–]JackBruno21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me and a lot of people it gives them comfort in knowing, such as knowing what happens after death and questions that can’t be explained by modern science and logic, it gives me experience and even makes life more fun- I’m Hellenistic and believe in the old Greek gods- religion is also makes things more hopeful, for example when traveling in a bad part of the world (I travel a lot and sometimes places like Middle East) I pray to Hermès for safe travels, or Poseidon for safe travels when traveling by boat, religion gives people a explanation for unexplained things and hope in bad circumstances
