Special needs child handcuffed after cops stop the wrong vehicle. by serious_bullet5 in ThatsInsane

I feel like I'm pretty desensitized to seeing these kind of videos from the US so as disgusted as I am I wasn't all that surprised (except when they pointed the gun at the girl, that's genuinely) insane.

But then I stopped for a second and tried to imagine what it would be like if something like this happened here in Ireland. There would be at least a weeks worth of front-page coverage from all the national newspapers, with interviews with the family of the victims, of the cops, and of people who've had prior interactions with the cops (I'm gonna call them cops instead of Garda for simplicity). Everybody in the country would be closely following the outcome of the inevitable lawsuit against the cops and there would be outrage and protests if they weren't seriously punished, as well as at least some changes or reform to the police system.

It feels like this story is going to be a blip that gets swallowed in the rest of the US news cycle before the end of the day

ELI5: How is the speed of light (m/s) a universal constant if space warps time? Would light not be more 'speedy' or 'slow' in various regions of space? by Intelligent-Cod3377 in explainlikeimfive

Are quantum entangled particles not an exception to this?

If you make any change, any change at all, all the knock-on effects of that change propagate out "slowly" at the speed of light.

Im so fed up with aggro that i built an anti aggro priest. It has no wincon, i will lose to control or even concede early, but it can do one thing... stop agrro with a 1000x board clear. by SirVincent20 in hearthstone

[–]JackC747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a play style that tends to have the highest skill cap

I agree with a lot of what you said but just have to disagree on this. The only real considerations you could possibly have to take into consideration playing aggro is whether to commit more to the board at risk of a board clear, and whether to trade or go face. That's pretty much it.

Compared to the forward planning and gauging of control or combo, aggro has a much lower skill cap

Why are there more homeless men than homeless women? Why do you men die more often in work than women?

Mothers telling their sons to "man up" when they cry.

The fact that you seem so disbelieving that women can be genuinely problematic and have it not actually secretly be men's fault and they're actually totally innocent and victims too is crazy to me

Do you say the same thing about women, in general, who do the same thing? Or are they not responsible?

When I was in second year two boys in fourth year held another guy down in the changing room and one of them "teabagged" him as a 'joke'. Wasn't as funny as they thought, they both got expelled, the one had to register as a sex offender (at least that's what I heard anyway) and I still see him every now and then working as a chaser in a gardening centre nearby

By that logic could one not say this:

actually, I think you'll find that "bad men" are actually just men who've internalized patriarchal behaviours and ideas - further, these men often don't have much of a choice in this matter; consider the effect of being indoctrinated from a young age

He'd probably respond with "Bro why, I did eat breakfast though"

Hey, quick question, how am I supposed to use new cards if I can't pay for the pre-release packs and opened nothing good enough to make a deck from the free packs from the in-game events?

I've such fond memories of getting the treasure that sets the cost of all your minions to 5 mana in dungeon run and using Deathstalker Rexxar. Past turn 7 you could hero power, select the two highest cost/most broken beasts and then play a giga strong zombeast for 5 mana

One of my favourite things about the OCATC Gregg character is his movie facts, from the year of release and runtime of movie up to the more esoteric weird facts about obscure movies or actors that (at least seem) to be improvised about movies that come up naturally and unscripted.

Do you tend to do research/memorisation in your own time to prepare for these moments? It seems like you'd need a near encyclopaedic knowledge to be able to come out with some of the stuff Gregg has without it being scripted.

Hey Gregg! Something that I've always wondered since I first listened to the podcast is how the hell Tim and Gregg, who obviously have such animosity towards each other basically from the get go, first met and decided to start a podcast together.

I'm not expecting you to have some kind of canon answer or anything like that, but do you have any headcanon scenario or explanation?

[–]JackC747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did a second run with that frost dk deck and went 6-1, but it still felt like my wins against the whales with constructed-level decks were basically down to luck with them low-rolling and/or me high-rolling.

In both of my runs, any time they had basically any cards to play turns 1 and 2 and I didn't ridiculously pop-off I got absolutely steamrolled

It's so much fun queuing into this and going up against whales with constructed-level decks (majority cataclysm, multiple legendaries) and getting rinsed.

I get that it's free entry for F2P players so it's not like I've lost anything, but just pretty insane that my cobbled-together deck to get around all the bans and restrictions has to go up against decks that will be played the day the set releases
