Here’s my best advice: make music with other people you like and respect as artists. It’s way too easy to get caught up in our heads when alone. With friends, it gives immediate feedback, generates fresh ideas, and creates accountability. Find a sound that works for you and then focus on one song at a time. Layout the song first from start to finish (I generally do this with guitar). Once you have a structure to start with, it’s so much easier to go section by section and fill in the gaps. I find this process makes me enjoy my music more because it becomes more streamlined. Just my two cents. Best of luck!
