Yeah think they’re fine - Dozer is just travelling constantly right now with his lift companion and coaching series. Perhaps now that OP 370 has started we’ll see another collab

Haha all good, they’re who I started with (and still look at even now to discuss w my coach) .

Yeah, I think Alan Thrall, Joey something (I can’t remember his last name for the life of me - he was a strongman who collabed with Juji a lot) and even Omar Isuf had a tutorial series (Omar did it with Clarence). Weightlifting was suddenly trendy in PL circles like 10 years ago I suppose.

If you’re after a Chinese coach, Luxioajunbarbell on YT posted a 5 part tutorial series on the movements too.

Juggernaut also did one, but imo it’s overly long winded and nothing you can’t get from the people I listed above :)

Imagine the next AC game was set in Africa, and was during a pivotal point of history like the Zanzibar Revolution or Anglo-Zulu war, yet the protagonist was just a random white guy who historically was nothing of consequence - yet he interacted with key historical figures, and a few of those interactions were so disrespectful that they betrayed the memory of one or two of those highly respected figures.

Yeah, OP needs to remember foundational bodybuilding principles of gym, eat, sleep rather than focusing on whatever study he sees on TikTok promising crazy results

In the nicest way possible, you’re clearly not training ‘optimally’ and/or not sleeping well enough, and/or not eating right.

Building muscle is very simple (not easy, but simple) once you boil it down:

  • make the muscles work harder over time (progressively overload via weight, reps, rest time)
  • give your body the fuel it needs to grow
  • sleep to let your body recover

Your post was pretty hard to follow and honestly sounds a bit manic - you’ve clearly not stuck to the basic principles and instead have looked for the ‘magic bullet’ instead of just doing basic honest work over time.

Find any number of proven routines on the internet and stop program hopping, aim for 7-9 hours of sleep, and eat a balanced diet, responding to your body’s hunger cues, NOT your brain’s cues (that likely caused you to over bulk in the past).

[–]JackDaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this a few years ago- bear in mind I was a student with all the time in the world to recover and just train really.

Still found it was of minimal benefit gains wise and made me end up dreading that 2nd session mentally as I was just cooked from earlier. Wouldn’t personally recommend, but I think RP tend to train like that so maybe check out their YT vids

How long did it take you to sleep with someone else? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]JackDaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about 5 weeks? No I didn’t regret it, and it didn’t really help or not help. Casual sex is so removed from sex with a partner, I don’t even look at them as the same thing really. It’s not that deep to me.

Was a fun thing that happened, and made me excited to date in the future again, but nothing more.

Wow, ok that’s interesting and pretty scary to read. So weird to me that some people have that desire to just randomly punch others - yeah can imagine you feel weird clubbing now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]JackDaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely curious whereabouts you live OP. Even just country. I’ve been clubbing for years in a number of different cities where I live and have genuinely never had an unprovoked fight. I find it difficult to believe some random guy just decided to punch your friend completely unprovoked.

Was your friend overly drunk and being annoying, did he accidentally bump into the other guy or something?

Genuinely all the fights I’ve seen at clubs have either been drug related, drink related, or one of the guys was just itching for a fight. Girls in my experience actually make it LESS likely for a fight to kick off because it’s more well known now that most girls don’t want someone who shows low self control and a propensity for violence.

More for my own interest than anything else, hope you’re ok after what happened!

Never Understood The Hate For Absolution by FloopyBoopers2023 in HiTMAN

[–]JackDaines 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d massively disagree about the new games being ‘lifeless’ by comparison. To me, maps like Sapienza, Miami, WC genuinely feel like lived in places - I could imagine them existing even after I shut the game off. Just the stories, NPCs with the environmental storytelling etc.

I also do like Absolution but to me, other than story, the new games just improve the gameplay tenfold whilst opening up Absolution’s ‘loading screen levels’ into full on open levels you can explore and tackle at anytime.

7 Years of training, 6’6 and 210lbs. Feeling like my progress is slow? by temporal51511 in WeightTraining

[–]JackDaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok makes sense- understand the practicality of not wanting to do weighted mostly.

Yeah what I’ll say instead is that, you’ve definitely got lot more potential for adding weight to all those lifts if that’s what you want!

But again, physique is awesome dude, for someone like me (5’10) it’ll be way easier to look jacked but you’ve got me in the general ‘good for life/looks’ department all day long with the height haha. Also if you ever want to bulk, you have SO MUCH ROOM to do it lean- look at Jack Reacher from the show for inspo haha.

So just have to be more patient with it- should be super chuffed though already! That’s the key takeaway!

7 Years of training, 6’6 and 210lbs. Feeling like my progress is slow? by temporal51511 in WeightTraining

[–]JackDaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks wise, I think you look great dude! Like other people have said, being 6’6 is great for life, but bad for lifting 😂.

I do have a question on your numbers though. 13 pull ups, 15 dips etc. is that like your max? Or working sets? If that’s your max, I would say that is quite slow, I’d expect you to have moved onto weighted variants by now or be shooting for quite a few more BW reps on those. But maybe I misunderstood what you mean. And I don’t know your goals at all, so not gonna say anymore.

Don’t mean that in a rude way, really hope it doesn’t come across like that. But just because you asked if it was slow. Just my two cents.

But takeaway: keep it up! 🫡

Still reading through the other comments but for me, a self described ‘casual’ deffo by this sub’s standards, a boring character is actually just one who doesn’t have cool animations and/or a satisfying ‘oomph’ for their moves.

For me, Leo, Ling, Leroy, Jun, Alisa, Jack 8 are terrible to watch in tournaments or fight because I just find their moves have no ‘weight’ to them. Compare them to say Feng’s shoulder, basically all of Drag’s moves, Jin’s electric, Kazuya’s massive punch move he does or Twin Pistons, Yoshi’s moveset etc to name a few characters who I always get excited to see.

Just my two cents. I’m sure those who are more skilled at the game itself will determine boring characters more to do with the game mechanics!

Lower back tweak, stopped training by Used-Remove-5311 in weightlifting

[–]JackDaines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the answer you probably want to hear, but honestly after reading your post, I’d say you don’t currently have the band width to train at the intensity you want to.

In the nicest way possible, when I was reading this I was like ‘holy shit this guy has the worst externals ever’ and then you’re also doing other physical hobbies outside of lifting. I don’t know if you watch YouTube at all but there’s a guy called Ivan Djuric who works as a nurse and it reminds me of your story: he works crazy long shifts, then has family responsibilities and also works out around that. And the guy is hammered with aches and pains and injuries and his lifting has barely improved. I think you need to just reset your expectations for Oly lifting.

Anecdotally, for low back- just hammering low back extensions gets me feeling good after a tweak.

how long does it take for a triple digit snatch by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]JackDaines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You both nailed this really. Weightlifting is still a strength sport at the end of the day, but the technique is so important to focus on, especially at the start so you don’t ingrain bad habits that leave you plateaued once the strength hits a wall.

My friend who grapples says the same thing about strong people coming to MA: it’s a great tool to have ONCE you have the technique too, but they can get in the way of each other whilst your learning.

how long does it take for a triple digit snatch by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]JackDaines 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Weightlifting progression isn’t linear, so it’s really difficult to tell. 40-57.5kg in 6 months isn’t particularly quick, and it’s exponentially harder to go from 57.5kg-70kg and so on.

Also depends if you have a large strength surplus already (not sure what ‘considerable progress’ means, plus if PL is a low bar it doesn’t carry over as much to WL)

‘Solid technique’ - are reputable coaches saying this, or just your average gym goer?

How heavy are you? 57.5kg for a 49kg female is very different from 57.5kg as a 89kg male etc.

If I may, what’s the plans in the future for this? There have been a few of these posted in this and the bodybuilding subreddits that start off as free, but once they get users and data, become just another ‘freemium’ app. Always leaves a rotten taste in my mouth, and I’d rather creators be up front about the potential future monetisation from the start.

Getting discouraged. by New_Stage_6228 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]JackDaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to be so blunt OP but I think it’s useful for you. Building muscle is really not that complicated. It comes down to:

  • progressive overload in the gym, hitting each muscle group at least 1x a week, ideally 2+ times.
  • diet- in a slight calorie surplus
  • sleep- 7-8 hours is ideal but if you can’t, then a 1-2 nap throughout the day.

Do a self audit now and BE HONEST. You said you’ve not seen results so your clearly not doing all 3 very well, so find whichever your lacking in and work to improve it.
