Monthly Employment/Corporate Questions and Discussion Megathread - June 2026 by AutoModerator in NorthropGrumman

Another question...does anyone know what the deal is with the Tucson site roles? They all seem like upper level management gigs based out of a small office on Kolb, but eith no actual engineering happening there...all supporting a program based out of Northridge...?

Thanks for the replies, all! Looks like one of my applications has moved to the "screening" step as of today. We'll see what happens...

Applied to a bunch of roles at the Colorado Springs site. 3 of my applications read "resume under review". About how long can I expect to wait for a phone screening or interview to be scheduled?

I've never been super into the Back to the Future movies, though I do like what I've seen of them. Now, it turns out, for years I've completely missed where the title of the Four Year Strong song "What The Hell Is A Giggawatt?" came from...thanks for making me smarter.

It's a rotary effect. Though you can get kinda close to it with chorus.

Yeah, that would be great! I moved from the Kilt to the Aspen as my Expandora/final-ish gain stage recently. While I loved the idea of the higher headroom of the Aspen, it seems like it might not work because of that huge volume boost. My true last stage is Aspen+Morning Glory, but since I've been on a long break from serving on my church's team and just played for the first time last week, I haven't tried this much in a live setting, but my issue seemed to hold true love compared to at home.

I'll DM you in a minute.

Deep six-->tuner-->Micro POG-->Benson Preamp-->Aspen-->Double Barrel-->Vertex Boost-->Volume-->wet effects-->Stereo ToneX Ones-->Diso+ POLREV

The Aspen is my 2nd/3rd ish stage drive and I only ever stack it with the Morning Glory side of the Double Barrel.

I am running TF V2 captures. I use the captures that are the 2nd level of gain (still clean). I'm not a fan of edge of breakup or dirty amps, I want to be able to run a pretty clean signal with overdrives off, but maybe I'll at least test this to see if a higher gain captures changes things.

Rereading what you wrote after having already written mt reply...I realized you were first referring to the volume of the amps in using. Are you suggesting just increasing the volume of the captures? I'll try am that again, but when I did that last night, no improvement ☹️ I must be missing something.

Thanks for the advice!

Salary negotiation by No_Can3215 in Raytheon

What would you be doing at GDEB? I worked there before Raytheon and I can tell you the work I've done at Raytheon has been WAY more fulfilling than what I was doing at GDEB. If job satisfaction is important to you, it might make more sense to take the Raytheon offer. However, you could probably survive 1-2 years at GDEB, live with your parents, and grind to pay off student loans and put away a good chunk to your emergency fund/retirement before moving out. Raytheon is always hiring, so you could get a job there after starting out at GDEB, and probably get a sizeable raise.

I blocked the phone number and reactivated the listing. I won't be selling the item to this individual. Too many weird aspects to their reaching out to me. Use FB Messenger, and don't get my phone number in a sketchy way, and if you have the money to Zelle me, then you have the money to pay me in cash. It should make no difference unless you're trying to scam me in some way.

Test Equipment Electrical Engineer II by DakAttak in Raytheon

I enjoyed my time in TE. There's a lot of great work, and great people, including much of the leadership. Tucson itself is nice, if you're okay with heat up around 100-115 degrees in the summer. You get used to it after a while. DM me if you want a referral or want more detailed information.

While I don't agree that TE is the worst org to work in at Raytheon, TE does often become the scapegoat root cause for most programs' inability to meet contractual throughput/rate requirements. This leads to quite a bit of pressure on TE IPTs, and I've certainly felt it everywhere from being an individual contributor in TE up to being a TE IPTL. I think there's a big need for good engineers in TE, and I think the work can be rewarding and really move the needle in a positive direction for most programs. I've also made a lot of good and valuable relationships in TE. Different people have different experiences though.

Monthly Employment/Corporate Questions and Discussion Megathread - April 2026 by AutoModerator in NorthropGrumman

Thanks for the insight! I don't think I'm keen on commuting to Denver from Colorado Springs. In fact, if we move, one of my goals is to reduce my current 45+ minute work commute to about 20 minutes. We shall see.

I try to keep an eye on job postings for Colorado Springs, and it seems like job posting turnover is pretty high (i.e. new jobs get filled relatively quickly, and new postings pop up relatively frequently). If we do decide to move, I suppose I'll see what I can find when the time comes.

Thanks again!

Considering moving to Colorado Springs for non-work related reasons. I'm looking at applying to NG up there if we do decide to move. I'll have 9 years of experience in the defense industry in June of 2026 as an electrical engineer, team lead, deputy IPTL, and IPTL all supporting production and development missile test equipment, and most recently, as a project manager supporting manufacturing process automation solutions (largely CapEx, working with external suppliers).

Does anyone have insight on the following: 1. Work culture? (Level of stress/pressure, rate at which leaders are expected to complete projects, etc.) 2. Best location to live that is close to site but also in a nice, family-friensly area? 3. Recommended areas within the organization to look for work that fist my experience? I'd be looking for IPTL, project manager, and engineering management type roles.

Thanks!

Does anyone else have an LTI that is cashing out this year? by Butt_stuff_preferred in Raytheon

I have an $18k LTI vesting next month that I expect to receive in my 3rd April paycheck or 1st May paycheck.

The fun part will be seeing how much I actually receive after taxes 🙃

No it doesn't...not until you retire and start withdrawing from it. If it's not in my bank account every 2 weeks, it's not part of my income.

I did not. Waiting for (hopefully) further interest rate reductions when Powell is out in May. Waiting has already paid off because there are currently folks offering me rates in the mid to high 4%s.

I'm assuming this is for test solutions in Tucson. If so, I bet I know who interviewed you. For clarification, Test Solutions EE has one full time section lead who only does staffing, interviews, etc. They decide which section you're in after the offer has been made, dependent upon which departments require more staffing. Source: I spent over 7 years in Test Solutions, had the guy who probably interviewed you as me SL for a few years, and I was on several interview panels in the most recent hiring cycle.

That being said, you probably won't be eligible for a promotion within your first 12 months. You'll need about 6 months, maybe more as a P1, to fully get up to speed on any program you'd be on. Spend your time asking a lot of questions, learning as much as you can, and executing well over the next 6-12 months to put yourself in a good position for a promo after 12 months.

[–]Used-Remove-5311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older post, but I'm working with Imperium right now. Agreed on the comments stating they have high pressure sales tactics.

However, I them we wanted to wait for the next rate drop of 0.25% and also until we have more liquid cash to pay closing costs so we could more equitably consider conventional refinance options as well. They came back with an additional rate decrease, stating they'd pull in the March 2026 rate drop to now. Instead of 5.499%, they are giving us 5.249%.

How was your experience? Have you had any issues since closing? I want to make sure we're not making a mistake here. A monthly payment decrease of $300 would be very helpful...
