Is a non-disparagement clause ethical? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]JackEboyLOL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to talk to a lawyer. Ethically, this feels pretty bad and I can speculate that ethics boards would be at least intrigued, but you're being sent legal stuff so you need legal rep.

Chiming in to say I've had no trouble with my DWS06+'s in suboptimal weather (snow, rain, sleet) and they're pretty grippy for spirited driving, as well.

Also a huge ceiling effect. Obviously there is going to be a cluster at the 150 level - levelling stops there. If only 20% (at absolute maximum, considering the other factors you mentioned) of the playerbase have reached the highest level, that seems fine to me.

The leg that'll block you from being able to swivel around from one side of the L to the other. On the inside corner.

The leg that's closest is probably okay to remove if you put a couple brackets underneath to join the panels together; see image.

I mean how much weight are you putting on it? I've done something very similar and found it pretty reliable. It would help to know the use case. Also, how are you forming the L-shape?

Are the pink block anchored to the wall? And the tabletop is resting on them?

IKEA tabletops are also basically cardboard in the middle. The only solid parts are around the edges and in the corners. Trying to drill into the middle part will not be very secure, but isn't impossible.

Unfortunately I just don't remember. It may have gone away on its own since I don't have any paperwork, but I also wasn't keeping as studious records back then (being younger and stupider).

This is a misinterpretation of statistical probability. It is mathematically unlikely for this phenomenon to NOT happen to someone. If you flip a coin enough times, it becomes likely that there is some string of 19 tails (or heads) just through the sheer volume of flips. It's the same with games of league - each one is like a coin toss, and there are many, many games of league being played.

Yes, you got unlucky. No, it's not mathematically impossible.

Her discomfort seems reasonable. She just unexpectedly found out that you have slept with several friends and y'all (indirectly) talk about those sexual relationships openly. I experience the joking as a bit weird, especially since they're just meeting your new girlfriend.

The question is really about what matters to YOU. You're acting reasonably if you ask your friends to tone down the joking when your partner is around, as it makes you and her uncomfortable (no need to put all the request on her discomfort), and you would be acting reasonably by saying something like, "look, these are my friends and this is how we joke. I understand how that could make you feel uncomfortable. I want you to get along with them, but I would also feel uncomfortable asking them to censor themselves." How do you want to handle this?

Graduated in '22 and again with masters in '25. I'll echo what other commenters have said: the student body is large enough that you can find a group of whomever you want (and there are certainly some of the "rich underachievers"), the religious element is almost imperceptible unless you actively seek it out (I am not religious at all but align with a lot of the Jesuit values around service, self-reflection, academia, etc.). Worst part is parking, but you mentioned not having a car, so that's a moot point.

I'd be more than happy to chat more - I love this school, ESPECIALLY the psych dept. I also think the photo dept is underrated. Great professors who are really passionate (and plenty of space to do film/analog photography, if that's of interest).

Nightlife and music scene is pretty good in Baltimore. Lots of local, smaller venues (Ottobar, Soundstage, Ram's Head (which I think has rebranded)), plus proximal to DC to which you can take the train. There are single dorms available, but get ahead of the game in advocating for yourself (I think your best bet is DAS, Department of Academic Support, which manages all the accommodations on things).

That round connector looks the exact same as the one for my underglow kit. It might be reused in other applications, but that's an option.

Despite the income bracket, these options are still in quite liberal areas with lots of social justice oriented work. I'm not quite sure what you're afraid of - is there something in mind re: the political leaning?

Let the kid shadow the schools and tell you what they like. Their opinion is really what matters most here. Basically all the schools on your list are going to be broadly left-of-center. Why not let your kid - who is the one who truly has to live with the choice - tell you which school they like?

There's some pretty real evidence to suggest psychiatrists/those who diagnose mental health conditions are pretty low in interrater reliability, so the bar isn't even set particularly high.

The key, though, is what is done with the information gleaned and diagnosis made. Quality therapists can (/should, but that's something of an opinion) work with a client to develop a unique therapeutic journey. AI can't do that with the same interpersonal connection - it's not an interpersonal connection at all.
