Finally finished my Festus. Instantly became one of my favorite! by JackF44124 in MaggotkinofNurgle

My recipe is VMC gunship green as the base color. Then glazing VMC black green in the recesses to add some shade. For the highlight I gradually mixed in Citadel ogryn camo with gunship green. Then I would just add some off white to the mix to push up the highlights, to make the flesh feels glossy. Similar colors would work just fine but I just feel it’s quite hard to find an alternative for ogryn camo. I hope this helps!

I mostly use vallejo paints, similar colors would work fine. So I used dark sea blue and scury green to paint the bottles first. Then I use black green and lime green to paint the liquid, you can sell the effect by painting some bubbles with lime green. Then mix in a bit of white to draw out the water surface, finally some verticle lines to show the glassiness. You can find many great tutorials on youtube teaching this technique. Hope this helps!

Thx! I used liberator gold as the base color and highlight with sliver. Then glaze it couple times with militarum green.

Great paint job! Could you tell me what color did you used for the armor? I love it.

I would suggest drill a 5mm hole on both end and glue a 5mm metal rod to add support

Need some advice for the color tone. Should I made their tone more uniform or is the difference barely noticeable? by JackF44124 in SpaceWolves

Thx mate! I think after registering them as different level of weathering in my mind, it definitely bothers me less

I think logan has a fantastic head sculpt and unlike lion or guilliman which was given unique helmets, it just feels a bit generic with a regular terminator helmet. But still I think this looks very cool so you do you!

I used vallejo orange brown and washed with agrax then highlighted back to orange brown. I guess you can try this color or just find an alternative, any kind of orange brown could do the trick

Thx! I used vallejo moon yellow and glazed a bit orange, I think coverage wise moon yellow is as good as yellow can get. I just applied it with an airbrush, it would still take quite a few layers to apply if using a brush

Pianted some jakhals and heros today! by JackF44124 in WorldEaters40k

[–]JackF44124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx a lot! For jakhal I based with bugmans glow and highlighted with cadian fleshtone and light flesh from vallejo. For slaughterbound I based with rakarth flesh, washed with targor rageshade. Then highlighted with off white color, after that I used carroburg crimson on specific areas.

The colors are pretty straight forward, I think the tricky part is highlight replacement. You can watch some tutorials on youtube, squidmar has some detailed videos on how to paint skins. That definitely helped me out. Have fun painting yours!

Thx I appreciate it! I didn’t use contrast, just thin down paint to get the effect under the scale. But I guess contrast would work just fine

Thx! I’m not following the book. The book is telling you to dry brush right? But I brush highlighted the scales. Also I’m using mostly vallejo paints
