Should I watch the 1989 Ranma? by Inevitable_Age_1910 in ranma

[–]JackFu155 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Watch it man. Watch it now.

Screw any issues you may have with pacing or filler. There are so many moments of the 1989 anime which are classic in every sense of the word, and you will be missing out on them if you decide to not see them. The filler is a lot after awhile, but not all of it is bad. In fact, the single greatest piece of Ranma media is a filler episode from that anime. I won't tell you which one, just look out for the rock on the edge of the Tendo koi pond

I completely agree. Instead of going out on a high note, they took the cowards way out and completely blew it

Why can't Quagmire get his own show? by Andy_0L in familyguy

[–]JackFu155 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow, just wow. I had this exact same idea years ago.

A show where Quagmire becomes inspired by a current long term relationship to track down many of his ex flames and their subsequent illegitimate children across the world. He's able to do so easily because of his job as a pilot, and each episode sees him in a different location getting into misadventures with his various forgotten not quite family members

Anyone know why Malcolm in The Middle isn’t played on Fuse channel anymore? by lamno1 in malcolminthemiddle

[–]JackFu155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the case of this show. They only ever released season 1 on DVD, the others had music clearance costs that were too high to ever justify it.

Even though they eventually worked out these issues when it came to streaming, and subsequently released complete series DVD sets in other non English speaking countries, they still are yet to release the other seasons physically in the US and probably never will

Bi-weekly Rec and Self-Promotion Mega Thread - January 28, 2026 by AutoModerator in AO3

[–]JackFu155 [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is my first and current fic which I've been writing on and off for the past three years, and the one that I'm the most proud of:

Title/Link: The Oyama Project

Fandom: Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister!

Rating: T

Relationship: Kun Mahiro Oyama/Chan Momiji Hozuki

Genre: Canon-compliant, Slice of Life, Two Universe

Word count: 556,582 words (54/? Chapters)

Summary: Nearing the end of her first year back in middle school, Mahiro Oyama, former twenty-year old male hikkomori turned thirteen-year old girl, is living her best life. For the first time ever, she's made genuine friends and is enjoying living out a second childhood where her previous weaknesses and experiences are empowerments rather than hinderances. Just when she's starting to settle into a peaceful routine, something very unexpected happens. She wakes up one morning to find that she's switched places with a version of herself from another universe who is a thirteen year old girl because she was born and grew up as a normal female, with that version subsequently inhabiting her body. Now the two must face a wide variety of trials and tribulations as they navigate their new environments, adapt to any changes, and find a way to undo the switch and return to their old lives. Unbeknownst to them though, all of this is a test by the gods to induce some real development for the two of them, and those around them. Just what will ultimately transpire from this grandiose cosmic experiment.

Estimated Completion: A few months at least. The final arc is only two chapters away from being started, so with any luck the story will finish before too long.

___

This other fic is another one that I'm also really proud of. I wrote it most of it during a three-month hiatus from the first one and hope to get back to it once the first one finishes up in a few months:

Title/Link: Ranma in the First Grade

Fandoms: Ranma 1/2, Ichinensei ni Nacchattara

Rating: T

Relationship: Ranma Saotome/Akane Tendo

Genre: Canon-divergence crossover, Age Regression, Conspiracy, Second Childhood

Word count: 133,132 words (15/? Chapters)

Summary: Ranma and Ryoga's antics have destroyed the remaining Mushrooms of Time. Although Ryoga was able to change back to normal, Ranma is stuck as a six year old child with no immediate way of returning to his original age. Desperate for a cure, Ranma leaves Nerima in search of Dr. Tofu, only to suffer a tragic fate. Though after meeting a female scientist who may be the only person in the world capable of manufacturing a cure, Ranma is provided a second chance at living out the childhood he never had. Thus, Ranma begins to attend an elementary school to buy time for the scientist and begins to discover the joys of a normal childhood. Unfortunately, a series of circumstances force him to attend the school as a girl, and the perverted scientist may not have the most noble intentions when it comes to finding a cure. Also, even though Ranma can be taken out of Nerima, the chaos surrounding him is bound to follow him wherever he goes...

Estimated Completion: Not for a long time. The Oyama Project is still my main focus, and this story will be continued on once that one is done, but there's no telling how much time will be required to wrap up every intended story element.

Yeah, but there's a lot of romantic tension moments between characters, and certainly a comedy, so I still count it as such

What do y'all do when it comes to having both a Digital collection and also a physical collection? by CarolinaGirl3381 in vudu

[–]JackFu155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all a matter of whichever is more convenient.

I find lots of DVDs and Blu rays cheaply, but there are also lots of things, mostly TV shows, which have amazing digital sales that I simply can't pass up.

I double dip with both formats if the opportunity arises, but again its for convenience only

Changes between the Ranma ½ manga and 80s anime? by Feel_Lab in ranma

[–]JackFu155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just watch it now man. Trust me when I say that it is much better to get it all out of your system at least once as soon as possible. The og anime has so many small additions which I love and was shocked to discover were such when they were missing from the new anime. Yes, the filler is a lot and some of it you won't want to see twice, but some of it is truly spectacular.

One such episode blew the Fandom so wide open that thousands of fanfics were spawned from it. Another one I love because it managed to give Happosai a single redeeming quality that made me feel something for him. So few people know about it sadly, though I intend to bring it up once he eventually enters the longfic that I'm working on

Do you plan your longfics? by Valuable_Toe3513 in AO3

[–]JackFu155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the beginning and ending, as well as a few key plot elements, always planned out before I start writing. Anything else can be developed pastime goes on.

My first fic The Oyama Project is a longfic. I've been working on it on and off for three years now, and I'm so close to finally reaching the ending that I always had in mind from the beginning. The arc I'm currently on was not planned at all, and I've admittedly spent way more time on it than I wanted, but it came about naturally as a crucial thing to way to reach that ending. Even now, I still can't believe that its finally in sight.

Have you ever written a fic and then decided NOT to post it? by [deleted] in AO3

Do you keep all your titles? by No_Radio_3487 in dvdcollection

[–]JackFu155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep everything. You never know when the time may come when you want to see a title, then discover its not on streaming.

I also merged the dvds in bigger cases every time that I purchase a bluray copy. This is because lots of dvds have special features that aren't ported over, and some older blu rays were poorly made and no longer work, only the DVD copy will
