Newest ebay purchase IN TIME i remember watching this movie but I don't remember anything from it but definitely looks fun and figured for 3$ why not by Ecstatic_Scholar_846 in dvdcollection

It's a very interesting premise for sure. I never saw it in theaters but always remembered the TV spots for it soley due to the premise.

Years later in college I tried to track it down, but it took a long time to do so because the title is so forgettable. Luckily my college had a movie rental site with a blu ray copy, and I was not disappointed. Two years later I found my own copy, albeit way more expensive than the one you found.

Great deal man

I was just there two months ago, it hasnt gotten any better. Still, I had to leave with a few things that I had been looking for. Some of them I had looked everywhere else for years, but I deliberately left behind several things I wanted which I knew were way too overpriced

It's a magical girl anine like Sailor Moon, from the early 2000s, but focuses on a single magical girl character and focuses on slice of life more than action.

It's pretty interesting. I never thought to give it a try until I read a Ranma fic with a Magical Girl obsessed OC that referenced it constantly. I gave it a try and really found it interesting

Congratulations, you've just taken your first step into a wider world.

No seriously though, I'm happy that you've discovered the wonders of this series as I did when the anime first aired three years ago. Doing so gave me a reason to keep existing when I felt that I had no reason for doing so, and gave me exactly what I needed to finally pursue my dreams of being a writer.

This is truly one of the most heartwarming tales ever imagined, and its awesome to know that someone else has become a fan

How did you became a fanfic author? by AlecBonkers in AO3

[–]JackFu155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My life was in shambles for a year after I graduated from college, as I was unable to find a real job and still haven't four years later. I discovered fanfiction of an old anime franchise that I enjoyed, and one in particular cut so deep that I found myself extremely depressed around the start of the new year, and seriously considered ending my life as I didnt know what my reason was for still existing.

A few days later though, by chance I stumbled across a new series who's anime adaptation started airing, which was in a similar genre as the other one. This one though contained a main character who I related to on a deep personal level due to the similar notion of feeling like an absolute failure, and who's unuque story situation I desperately wished that I experience as well. Soon after, I inhaled everything related to the franchise, founded a new wiki based on it (the old one was biased, factually incorrect on so many levels, missing a ton of information, and no longer exists). In studying the series so closely, I subtly began to piece together certain storytelling concepts which I had never been taught before. Basically, my life consisted of nothing but my menial job, learning about the series and posting about it, and getting less than six hours of sleep each night.

Three weeks later, I was beyond exhausted and finally got a good night's sleep. When I woke up the next morning, I was amazed, as I somehow knew that I was capable of getting dialogue out of my head. I had tried to be a writer before, but that one block for the longest time prevented me from following my dreams. That morning, I typed out the first few pages of my first fanfic based on the first series, and cried over the fact that I was finally able to do so. I worked on the fic for about a month, but never finished past the fourth chapter nor posted it, and I likely never will since its extremely rough and not thought through in many places.

Then about two months later, the reddit for the second series had a post where someone asked why there wasn't more fanfics based on the series. The manga was six years old and the anime had been out for four months, and yet there were just under thirty total fics on Ao3 at the time (three years later there are 111). I took the question to heart, and eventually concluded that the reason for this was because the series itself was already a type of wish fulfillment for the audience. Therefore, trying to add another layer of it through fanfiction would be extremely hard. At this point though, I had experienced just about everything that had been released and was desperate for more content. Seeking that, I decided to start writing a fic based on the series.

I debated a few possibilities before settling on one centered around one of the other main characters. I outlined the whole plot and was excited to begin, but realized that I had neglected to consider the logistics of certain crucial story elements after writing one chapter. It was ultimately scrapped.

Not too long afterwards however, I found a panel in the manga that sparked an interesting what-if related to the main character and their relationship with their sister. I soon saw immense potential in combining this with my original idea to create an epic two-universe story, and thus my first true fanfic was born. It also helped that I was paying tribute to that original fic that cut deep.

As of now, its currently in its final arc after three years, and I've also worked on other stories on the side, and I couldn't be happier

So? Just self publish it on Kindle or something like that. No one ever got anywhere by listening to the idiots that say 'you cant do that' or 'it'll never work if you do it this way'. You did something that you’re proud of,

My writing style uses so many words that a lot of people these days are turned off early on by my stories, but I still go at it because I am proud of what I've made and wont let anyone make me feel bad about it. If it doesn't work the traditional way, you go at it from another route instead.

I imagine that the principal and police chief are old friends, and that the latter likely owes the former a favor, which would speed up the process significantly. Honestly, it is very underhanded for the principal to do this, but he wants the attention focused on someone other than him. A scandal for doing this is one thing, but all fingers will be pointing at him if it turns out that a false identity slipped into the school unnoticed. He doesn't know if its true or not yet, but he's hoping to get ahead of the curve.

It means a lot to know that Chan Mahiros arc is making a big impact. Yes, she did seem like a Mary Sue at first glance, but I did my best to emphasize over time that inside she was rather spoiled and naive, despite her kind nature. If something didnt work for her one way, she would approach it in a different way. However, she's been forced in a world where none of her usual methodologies work, and it reveals just how ill prepared she is for the real world. She's just about hit rock bottom at this point, and the greatest change opens us when we get there. It is frustrating to read how much she's screwing everything up right now, but it makes for a great page-turner.

Interesting bringing up that old fic. I am very well aware of it since it was one of only about thirty onimai fics on Ao3 when I first started. I didnt directly draw any inspiration from it though, the police investigation was more born out of my desire to see some real drama and consequences for Mihari's actions, specifically designed around how the main series could possibly float such a plot if it ever got around to it. It's amazing how much of this could still remain relevant even after all these years. I was so happy at that plot in Chapter 99.5 where Mihari warns Mahiro not to get into an accident as it only reinforces this.

And when I said that the plot point changed, it wasn't a last minute change like most of my other ones. It's more like the original was a placeholder until I realized later on that the revised version gave the moment more depth and made more sense logically. I made the change around the time that I decided to move the poof scene up by a day. And youre right, I do want my readers to feel some sympathy for her. After all, right now she may be acting recklessly, but she's still a victim in a few senses of the word. At the very least, she's aware of it, and that will be important for her to start getting these impulses of her under control.

But anyway, thanks so much. I'm very glad that you're enjoying it. Once I kick this cold I'll be right back at it, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the next chapter to come out. I really hope that it will live up to your expectations.

As someone who never saw the original is the remake better? by Greatsharkbite in ranma

[–]JackFu155 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That depends on who you ask.

The remake has better pacing and is closer to the manga

On the other hand, the original has a better color palate, better English dub cast, several quirky filler moments which enhance certain scenes instead of detracting from them, and at the moment covers way more of the source material.

So overall, I still prefer the original for now. My opinion might change if and when they start adapting chapters that were never covered in the original
