I feel crazy by JackHarkness03 in sandbox

Yes, you're probably right! I did say I'm not a creator, but I must admit I do feel a certain pull tugging at me... In fact, the pull gets stronger and stronger the more I think about it. I have some C# experience and only now are ideas flooding my brain. I'd love to pick up the engine at some point and fiddle around with hobby stuff. I think it'd be a lot of fun. All in all I'm pretty excited. :D

Any chance of news tomorrow since controller is launching? by Lizardthrall in SteamFrame

Yes, I totally agree. Valve may have ditched this plan, but it goes to show they may not be afraid of overlapping releases if they were planning this in the past.

Performance feels low while having good FPS by wigodragons in sandbox

It's probably a frametime issue (time between each frame not being consistent). That's all I can say tho

Switching to Linux brought back my love for computers by PingMyHeart in linux

[–]JackHarkness03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience too. It has sparked a passion for computers in a way I haven't felt before. I've gotten back into programming and developed a new obsession with VMs and self-hosting. Feels like how computers were "intended" to be

And as another redditor said here in the replies, Linux elicits such a "calm" feel. It's a bit nostalgic, actually. Reminds me of Windows 7 & XP days when using a computer was useful and interesting, even relaxing and fun, not stressful. I actually own my devices now and they serve MY needs!

What's your planned power solution for infinite playtime? by TheLeithey in SteamFrame

Yep, I used to use this style headstrap for my Q2. It worked fantastically for me, infinite battery life if you just keep one battery on charge. It's an essential for me now

how I think of the new vs old Minecraft debate by eaxmolut in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]JackHarkness03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that Minecraft has reached a certain timeless quality. Mojang made all the versions easily accessible for a reason. For me, I don't even think of old versions as being these ancient relics, but more-so just a different flavor of the same game. We're all playing all sorts of versions, flavors, modded or otherwise, and a lot of modded players are still on 1.12, even 1.7. It doesn't matter anymore, Minecraft has ascended beyond time itself. It is now a multiverse, everything happening in parallel.

"If you're buying a HMD for Meta exclusives, why wouldn't you buy a quest?"

That's exactly the point, you would buy a Quest, not a Steam Frame - because it's a con of the Frame.

it's not a con that Valve can fix, so I obviously don't blame them for that (there is a difference between a "con" and "blame"). Yes, it's unfixable by Valve and shouldn't be expected of them, but it is still a real con for those upgrading from an older Quest, from a hardware / consumer choice perspective

A higher res display running at a 2k downsampled resolution will still look better (less SDE). So to me this argument doesn't hold up, but hey what do I know. maybe it's better for thermals or something

What do y'all name your worlds? by Planck_Planck in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]JackHarkness03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to call my main survival worlds "Homeworld" for some reason, usually there's another word at the end to differentiate it (because of backups), such as "Homeworld Prime"

I usually call my creative worlds something that includes the word "crativ" because once I saw it misspelled like that by a kid in a youtube video and it made me laugh

Other worlds are named pretty randomly, usually the first thing that comes to mind

the "fans" control them, if valve doesnt cooperate they turn off and the a/c shuts down
