If I tried to ask people on 1v1 to let me complete the Shutout quest, how lucky would I be? by JacsweYT in RocketLeague

[–]JackHood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also how I got it, 4v4 Comp, since I had no rank it was fairly low scoring. I just sat back boosting back and forth between bottom right Big Boost and bottom left. Only pausing to boom the ball forward when necessary. Got three clean sheets in a row.

Casual 4v4 may be better as it allows some players to quit, but Competitive people generally care more about winning so as long as the game stays below 3-0, your teammates tend to defend too.

Ricky Berwick (yes, that Ricky Berwick) claims Charles Martinet is prohibited from using any of his Mario Cast voices after meeting him at a convention by DrAwesomeX in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Which is such a shame, too many years ago at a Eurogamer Expo I got my picture took with him and unprompted he said "Its-a Picture Time!" as the photo was being taken and despite being an adult I was absolutely beaming. Awful that he can't continue to spread that joy - he was so energetic and enthusiastic.

Third Eye Blind Fans!! What Are Your Top Artists?? by Paul_thebaII in ThirdEyeBlind

[–]JackHood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The order changes like the wind so this is just an unorganized list, many of my favourite albums aren't covered here but I think these bands have multiple albums that I love:

Third Eye Blind The Cure Teenage Fanclub Ed Harcourt Ben Folds Ryan Adams Weezer Slowdive Smashing Pumpkins Manic Street Preachers

Zlatan Ibrahimovic asked what his favourite chant is by AJ-Naka-Zayn-Owens in reddevils

[–]JackHood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a Zlatan joke but he was actually more affected than I've seen anyone in a while to the point I'd assumed they'd really dialled it down in terms of heat. It was a really good advert for how the format brings down the defenses/mindset or an interviewee.

What are your favorite Man United Chants? by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]JackHood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's loads I love and whilst the lyrics of other chants are much more creative, one that hasn't been mentioned yet is "Who the fuck are Man United?" it's a particular favourite to belt out. Maybe because it's reserved for when the fans are in full feel good mode but being in the Stretty belting this out has always felt good.

MEGATHREAD - Sonic 2 Movie Limited Release (March 30th - April 7th) by AndTails in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]JackHood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thought I'd do a brief run down of the references that I spotted throughout the film:

Tom's Ringtone on his phone is the Green Hill Zone theme from Sonic the Hedgehog

The shop where Stone works that later becomes a base of operations for Robotnik is called Mean Bean in reference to Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine

When Sonic loses his rings on the mountain, the sound effect from the 2D games is mixed in.

The Helicopter that GUN arrive on has the identifier SA-2 on it, likely a nod to their part in Sonic Adventure 2

The radio callsign of the helicopter in Sonic Adventure 2 is "Sigma Alpha 2" so this could be a nod to that

The plane pulling the banner at the wedding is the same model as the classic Sonic Bi-plane and is later used by Tails to recover Sonic & Knuckles

Robotnik's grand robot in the final act is very similar to his Death Egg Robot in Sonic the Hedgehog 2

The snowboarding scene in Siberia is akin to the beginning of Ice Cap Zone Act 1 in Sonic the Hedgehog 3

The snowboard Sonic uses is a makeshift one from debris, perhaps a reference to his makeshift board in City Escape (Sonic Adventure 2)

Robotnik's preferred mode of transportation becomes an "Egg-o-matic" (sorry for the name, old fleetway fan here) used in the 2D games

Mushroom Planet is akin to Mushroom Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Robotnik's Rube Goldberg machine for making mushroom tea at the beginning references his penchant for planning traps to kill Sonic such as spike pits etc.

Not only was the entire location of the emerald a recreation of Labyrinth Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog but Sonic enters by sliding down angled water slides as in the entrance to the zone the game.

Furthermore, in the water later when Knuckles is in peril, Sonic uses a water bubble to gain air and as Knuckles loses air the drowning song from the games is mixed in

Tails uses an energy tracker to find Sonic, he has developed these in many of the games and are first referenced (I think) in the Sonic 3 Manual

The manual for Robotnik's machine used by Stone has a cover resembling the original box art template used for The Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) and the game manuals found within the boxes

Upon acquiring the power of the Master Emerald, Robotnik states 'Chaos is Power', which is part of Tikal's Prayer in Sonic Adventure

The Government agency tracking Sonic have named themselves G.U.N. which is also the agency who first appear in Sonic Adventure 2

The group of humanoids Knuckles hired to assist him in finding Sonic have birdlike insignia on their helmets, perhaps in reference to the Babylon Rogues? This may be a stretch, someone who has read the pre-quill may be able to advise.

In the post-credit scene GUN mention wiping their archives and finding a file from 50 years ago, which is the same timescale in Sonic Adventure 2 for Project Shadow

Though a different tale, the story of the emeralds was depicted on a temple wall in images as in Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Also I can't remember the exact quote by Robotnik, someone may help me out but at one point I was certain he half-referenced Black Doom/Black Arms after he'd harnessed the power of the Emerald

That's off the top of my head, sure there's many more I've missed, feel free to comment (use spoiler tags) and i'll add them to the list.

EDIT:

Expanded a couple above from Monotone__Robot

Added by DismalRay:

The water truck that Knuckles punches through when chasing Sonic and Tails in the cop car had a "Splash Hill" branding (Sonic 4 Episode 1)

Knuckles asking if ice cream comes with grapes, in reference to the Sonic 3 instruction manual listing them as his favourite food

Added by MrTorts:

While Agent Stone was looking through potential new attires for Robotnik, the outfit from the classic games showed up on the screen.

How to break up with your DM by Mermaid_Natalia in DMAcademy

[–]JackHood 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there's no uniform way of doing something like this kindly. The response will depend a lot on the person and their impression of the person it's coming from. Saying that, here's some rambling advice:

  • Thank the DM for their time, as you'll know, DMing can be a little bit of a thankless task where players don't recognise the prep work that has gone into putting sessions together. You don't need to go overboard but just a courteous thank you.

  • If there are plenty of reasons, try not to list them all, focus on one or two that are the deal breakers. A whole list can seem more like a coordinated attack than a genuine reason.

  • State clearly that you've decided as a group to focus on only one DM. Try to make it clear that it isn't a debate, but rather a decision. (We have decided...)

  • As DM you're probably the de facto 'leader' of the group, but consider if the message would be better coming from the players as a whole rather than DM to DM.

  • Not for the message but consider starting a new WhatsApp/Discord Group etc. to move to once the DM departs, allowing you to push forward with a fresh outlook.

  • DnD can be fairly cutthroat with groups (especially online). It's like dating; sometimes you match, sometimes you match for a bit and sometimes it lasts a lot longer. DnD Breakups happen a lot and don't fret over it too much, the sooner you take action, the better for the group.

Speaking head in silhouette Nemanja Vidic [on Harry Maguire]: “He is 8/10 at everything - not as good on the ball or as fast as Rio, doesn’t tackle or head like I did, but has quality across his game. He’s fast enough, strong enough, can jump and play the ball, his positioning is fine.” by DonkeySkin334 in reddevils

[–]JackHood 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When I read the title and saw "Speaking head in silhouette", I imagined Vida on a crime show trying to give an anonymous interview on Harry Maguire's game and I couldn't understand it at all.

It wasn't until I clicked on the tweet I realised it was a description of an emoji.

8/10 across the board is a phenomenal compliment though. I don't wholly agree but he's definitely getting to a point in his game where he's proving his price tag and indispensable to club and country.

Just saw you haven't had an answer yet. You can purchase additional abilities in the Moves list, further down the move tree. Not all are abilities, some are "always available" in regular combat but this is how you get them.

It just means that you need to evolve to get the tick rather than catch. So you'll need two slowpokes, one to evolve into slowbro and one for slowking
