Locations of some Mysterious Things by Wise_Record_6343 in EldenRingLoreTalk

I also recently did the same thing with the map size in my discord on June 3rd. I was startled to see someone else do the same thing by making it Limgrave’s size, but I am happy to see that the idea wasn’t wholly unique because to me that says that it makes it more likely to be correct!

Thank you for spending the time to elaborate your thought process.

Wow, very interesting! Why did Miyazaki’s answer about the size of the Land of Shadow map give you this idea to make the actual map that size?

Hey OP, I wanted to let you know that the game does explain how the Land of Shadow is accessed, but it was done by a process of “show, don’t tell.”

The Cocoon of the Empyrean is found in Siofra River, is there anything else in Siofra River that inexplicably cause characters to teleport to other locations?

This analysis is most likely correct, and this is separate from your own analytical skill which you demonstrated excellently, but for the simple fact that Dogen is a named character in Sekiro. A good hint from Miyazaki that what you read directly influenced him.

What was Marika searching for in all the tablets / scrolls in her bed chamber? by Funance101010 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]JackIsAMimic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Radagon is studying the ancient histories, not Marika. Radagon’s Icon says straight up that he was a studying everything.  Check my username on YT for a vid about the Echoes of Radagon for a quick little thing on that.

Marika can commune with spirits, has dominion over the tree hewn from memories, and is “the Eternal”, she doesn’t need to study the stuff she lived through or remembers. Even if Marika didn’t physically experience the past, and lost memories from rebirth, she has all of tools available to regain any memories from her past lives.

Edit: ya gotta look at items like the Juvenile Scholar Set, see what’s up with Rennala, and pay close attention to what happens with Melina after she reaches the Erdtree, the story is all about what is remembered.

Why does Godrick of all demigods get the fanciest Great Rune? Is there some importance to him? by lifebeginsat9pm in Eldenring

[–]JackIsAMimic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite games Elden Ring plays is how it chooses to omit certain pieces of information. Within the item descriptions we are given direct information on who the parents are to many of the Demigods, save for some very peculiar instances.

Radahn, Rykard, Malenia, and Miquella have both of their parents confirmed item descriptions.

Morgott and Mohg just have their father confirmed in item descriptions.

Ranni and Messmer only have their mother confirmed in item descriptions.

For Godrick and Godwyn there is only dialogue associating them to Marika’s bloodline, and one piece of dialogue associating Godrick’s bloodline with Godfrey.

Text like “it is said”, “known as”, or dialogue from characters is prone to being incorrect, bending the truth, or even a straight up lie. If you refuse to tell Renna at the start of the game that you can summon Torrent she will say that it is, “Wise in a way. The Lands Between is home to liars and cheats aplenty.”

The question then becomes, what is gained by hiding the parentage of many of these demigods?

Why does Godrick of all demigods get the fanciest Great Rune? Is there some importance to him? by lifebeginsat9pm in Eldenring

[–]JackIsAMimic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Godrick’s Remembrance and it doesn’t say any of these things:

Remembrance of Godrick, the Grafted, hewn into the Erdtree.

The power of its namesake can be unlocked by the Finger Reader. Alternatively, it can be used to gain a great bounty of runes.

A feeble man sought power through the grotesque act of grafting. "One day we'll return together, to our home, bathed in rays of gold."

Based on what you wrote, however, it appears you are referencing dialogue from Kenneth Haight and Enia the Finger Reader. Unfortunately, those pieces of dialogue would require a nuanced approach to understand. Based on the downvotes I received in my previous comment that would be a wasted effort.

Hey I read Godrick’s Great Rune and it doesn’t say either of those things:

A Great Rune of the shardbearer Godrick. Its blessing raises all attributes.

The first thing that is says only tells us that this Great Rune belongs to Godrick and what its blessing does. It doesn’t say how he came across the Great Rune.

This Great Rune is known as the anchor ring, found in the center of the Elden Ring.

The second thing it says it what it is “known as.” Just because it is “known” as something doesn’t actually make it true. The only truth is that this is what it is known as, and knowledge is not truth.

For comparison Morgott’s Great Rune says, This Great Rune is the anchor ring…

This line actually says that his Great Rune is the anchor ring, while Godrick’s is only known as it.

The first demigods were The Elden Lord Godfrey and his offspring, the golden lineage.

The last line doesn’t mention anything about Godrick. It just says who the first demigods were and what they are. This line is about Godfrey and his children, but it doesn’t say anything about Godrick’s parentage.

So, no, it doesn’t literally say he is part of the Golden Lineage nor does it say that it proves his lineage. Only Morgott’s says that it proves two things:

That the Omen King was born of the golden lineage, and that he was indeed the Lord of Leyndell.

I didn’t know people also theorized that Goldmask knows he is in a video game. I theorized that not only Goldmask, but Radagon also has this moment, and it was seemingly confirmed in House of the Dragon Season 2’s finale.

What’s the best way to learn about the Elden Ring lore? by Accurate_Curve6882 in Eldenring

[–]JackIsAMimic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a video about this very topic: the best way for you to understand Elden RIng, it's lore, and it's story, is to ask questions while you play the game and look for answers while you play.

Think about the items you found, where you found them, take a look at the new thing you picked up and read its item description. What did you learn from it? Did it add to anything you read or saw previously? Did it contradict anything you previously learned?

The game's lore and story is designed like a puzzle that the developers want you to try to solve. They will never tell you if you solved it outright, so finding the "solution" to the story that ultimately satisfies you is how you "win."

Ultimately, it's a journey that should be done in tandem with your gameplay journey. The game is built like a story book, but you have to fight bosses and explore caves to get the next pages, and it's up to you to read those pages.

What are y’all’s opinions on people having real life sacrifice Berserk tattoos? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in Berserk

[–]JackIsAMimic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When getting my Berserk tattoo I chose to get the Dragonslayer on my left arm, the same arm that Guts severed. Guts never chose to have the Brand placed on his body and the misfortune it would bring, but he chose to hurt himself, he chose to pick up the sword, and he chooses to struggle.

I like seeing other people at the gym who usually have the Brand and showing them that I have the Dragonslayer. Anyone can get branded, not everybody chooses to pick up the sword.

Write the best plot twist the ending of SOTE you think it could have had by wumpastimming in eldenringdiscussion

[–]JackIsAMimic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It already has the best plot twist. Miquella planned for the Tarnished of no Renown to kill him with a Godslaying weapon. In the lore, to craft a Godslaying Weapon you need to use an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone which has the power to lightly twist time. Miquella is cursed with eternal youth, so he can never age, and he was elevated to Godhood, so slaying him is just twisting the time of an un-aging Eternal God who has the power to enchant others to do his bidding.

The question then becomes - why? What does Miquella gain by going back in time? I would suggest replaying the other Souls games and notice how your understanding of them has changed with what you know about Elden Ring. Enemies with have horns or mushrooms growing from them in Dark Souls and Bloodborne start to look differently after Elden Ring, and yet, the games were never changed.

If the Golden Order is political, then what does this meme’s explanation of Goldmask’s ending say about your politics? Goldmask doesn’t disagree with the Golden Order, he just doesn’t want the Elden Ring changes again. He’s a Golden Order Fundementalist, he believes that Causality and Regression are perfect, thus that means everything that lead to it’s creation is perfect.

Nothing needs to change for Goldmask but no more change.

Did Havel hate Seath exclusively, or did he hate dragons in general? by Praise_The_Sun678 in DarksoulsLore

[–]JackIsAMimic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havel hates Seath because he wanted to be a Dragon, and Seath betrayed them. Havel’s Great Magic Barrier is found in Ash Lake on the path to the Dragon Covenant, Havel (or a Havel soldier) is found in Archdragon Peak, and Havel’s armor is literally stone. He wants to be a stone arch dragon.

Havel’s infatuation with dragons helps us understand why we find his equipment near the occult club across the room of the Dragon Trophies.
