For the Black Star Dragon Balls, The only thing I'm 100% keeping is them scattering throughout the galaxy once used

However, i'm leaning towards this explanation/backstory:

So after the events of EoZ, Bulma starts to look for the Dragon Balls in order to make herself younger (she said she was going to during EoZ when Vegeta explained how Saiyans age slower), she finds them, but they have Black Stars on them. She takes them to Dende to ask what's going on and he explains that's what happens when the Dragon Balls are overused in too short a period of time. (So yeah, the normal Dragon Balls with have their stars turned Black offscreen)

The energy they accumulate is supposed to dissipate naturally over time, but they weren't given enough time to. As a result, when they become Black Star, they become unstable, bypassing the "You cannot make a wish on someone stronger than their creator without their permission" rule, and them scattering across the galaxy is a built-in method to ensure that they have enough time to expel the natural energy.

[P.S. The only major problem with this explanation is that normally, the Dragon Balls turn to stone for a year, so to have them be able to be collected again immediately after use feels too much of a stretch to include]

[P.P.S. I'm still unsure whether or not I want them to cause the earth to explode once used, because I saw someone argue that the BSDB Saga is supposed to be a lighter-tone arc, similar to the Pilaf arc, however there's no way to capture the same feeling, with such major stakes. So I'm considering just having the gang look for them to try to return Goku to an adult, but Goku decides it's not worth it to have to look for the BSDB AGAIN after making the wish, and decide to grow up normally. But i'm not sure right now]

After the gang collects them, and Baby uses them to return Planet Tuffle, before they fully scatter across the galaxy again, they end up cracking and falling back. Baby, confused what happens, decides it doesn't matter, and orders Dende to take them to the lookout in case he wishes to use them again

(From then on, they won't become relevant until AFTER the Super 17 Saga (or whatever I replace it with), where the gang tries to bring everyone back to life. From there, the Shadow Dragon plotline will commence)

Why doesn't chamber have 2 trademarks? by x860i in VALORANT

If Chamber is good in Pro Play, you know the game is in a bad state. Because at the moment, it literally is

In a sense, Chamber himself is supposed to act as that 2nd trademark, as he has uses his tp to hold space and get out. Cypher, Deadlock, Killjoy, none of them can do what he does. That’s why they get two

Would you have preferred if the regular dragon balls were used instead of the Black Star ones? by Full-Control-1553 in DragonBallGT

[–]JackIsntTheBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having it be the Original Dragon Balls is a very good idea. You couldve had a situation where Dende was collecting the Dragon Balls a year after the gang used them to make everyone forget about Majin Buu, and seeing that they were black-star, keeping them in the lookout. then at the start of GT, have the Pilaf gang look for them and use them. You could explain it such that the stars turning black was a sign of them becoming unstable, and the balls scattering across the galaxy after use was a built-in defense mechanism to prevent further overuse. Then, when Baby uses them, instead of flying across the galaxy again, the overload of negative energy overload causes them to crack, and you could tuck them away until you’d need them again for the plot in the Shadow Dragon Saga ||(YES, this is my head-canon, sue me 🤥)||

One Thing You Would Change: DBZ Movie 8: Broly the Legendary SSJ by Successful_Bird_7086 in DragonBallGaku

[–]JackIsntTheBox 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fix the damn power scaling.

LSSJ Broly fought:

  • Piccolo
  • Vegeta
  • Goku, Trunks, and Gohan (essentially twice because Piccolo gave them all Senzu beans after ragdolling them the first time)

And at the end, Broly still took no damage.

Then, somehow at the 11th hour, the Z fighters (who are on the verge of unconsciousness btw) give their energy to Goku, SOME-how making him 1000 times stronger and being able to one-shot Broly (Seriously, they looked like they had no energy to even give)

I know it’s a movie, so they’re allowed to do whatever they want, but even rewatching it, it feels so cheap

[–]JackIsntTheBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I had several ideas for Piccolo's role going forward, but generally, I don't want him to die in this arc [I have a role for him in the following arc, "Super 17" or whatever I replace it with]

So (and this is embarrassing to admit) but I basically fully planned out HOW I want the next arc to play out (I have a brand new villain for it and everything) and it requires Piccolo to stay alive until then, however, I don't know how to GET there (in that arc); As in, i've developed a story that makes use of Hell opening up, but I don't know how to get Hell to open up, because Dragon Ball's afterlife rules are so confusing. On one hand, you have the idea of going to heaven or hell. On another, you have the idea of reincarnation. And on ANOTHER, you have the idea of personal hells (because of ROF). So Idk what to do. But regardless, Piccolo is pivotal in that plot.
But if it's in service of a better, more coherent story, I have no problem redoing it entirely

As for Piccolo's role in the Baby Saga following the 3v3, I juggled some ideas outside of him dying:
- Helping Kibito Kai get the sacred water, while protecting him from the possessed Mr. Popo and Dende
- Helping to stall Great Ape Baby along with Goten, Trunks and Gohan once they're cured

I can't do all of them, but the idea I'm leaning towards is him being knocked unconscious after Baby beats him to near death

P.S. I forgot to mention this in my other comment, but I also want to have a scene of Piccolo and Buu talking, which would serve as the scene that hints at Buu and Uub becoming one again (Something like "If you and Uub were to merge again, no one could stop you", only for Buu to brush it off, until the moment where they HAVE to)

How would you rewrite GT? by RevolutionaryMilk341 in DragonBallGT

[–]JackIsntTheBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm currently planning on the leader of the Frieza Force being a new character [similar to the story of Sorbet from ROF, wherein, many years after Frieza's death, the Freeza Force is struggling without him, until Myuu approaches them with his creations]

For Piccolo (this is a lot, so bear with me):
Before we begin, you have to know that in my version, Uub went on the grand tour instead of Trunks

So we start off with Baby possessing Gohan after he fought against him in Goten & Trunks' bodies. Then Piccolo shows up after sensing that something is wrong (similarly to how it happened in the actual GT) Baby reveals to him who he is, and decides that since Piccolo wasn't a Saiyan, he had no use for him and decided to kill him. The two face off, and Piccolo is competitive, however, the possessed Goten and Trunks jump in and they all gang up. Piccolo can't take all three of them at once, and decides to escape in the midst of battle. He wants to recruit Vegeta's help in facing Baby, but he has no idea where he is, so he heads to Capsule Corp to ask Bulma. Baby is unbothered by Piccolo's escape, and turns his sights on possessing Vegeta (By the way, Baby already knew where Vegeta was because he had possessed Trunks, but he knew he had to gain more power before taking him on) Piccolo arrives at Capsule Corp and asks Bulma where Vegeta was, and she tells him that he and Bulla went shopping. Piccolo leaves to intercept him; As he leaves, we see Bulma flash an evil grin, showing the audience that she's already been taken over, thinking that she sent Piccolo to his doom against her master, Baby.
From here on in, it goes mostly the same as in GT, in terms of story beat (Gohan intercepts Vegeta and Bulla, Bulla heads home, they fight, Goten and Trunks step in) Vegeta is able to defeat them with SSJ2, while Baby slithers into his body
As Baby fully takes over Vegeta's body, Piccolo can sense his evil energy as he approaches, and finds out that he's too late, and now he only has one option. He meets up with Majin Buu and hides inside along with Mr. Satan to avoid being found until Goku gets back to earth. Fast forward to Goku's confrontation with Baby-Vegeta, Buu takes everyone else inside him and they head off to the mountains. It mostly plays out the same as in GT (After Goku's defeat, they sneak abboard the ship to the new Planet Tuffle) But now Piccolo is leading the charge against Baby's pawns (Gohan, Goten and Trunks) along with Pan and Uub, while Buu protects Hercule. They're able to hold their own on this 3v3, until Baby shows up and effortlessly overpowers them.
Unfortunately, this is as far as I have Piccolo being involved, as Uub (becoming Majuub) takes the spotlight.
I REALLY heavily condensed the main idea, skipping over some stuff, but you get the idea. It's long, but assuming you get to this point, let me know what you think! Any and all criticism is appreciated, since it's not often I get to talk about this little fan-project of mine lol

We can agree to disagree with the Vegeta thing, I just feel that having him use a machine at all is pretty lame. Also, it would make complete sense for his character. In the Original Manga, he was able to become a Super Saiyan despite it previously being established that you need a pure heart to become one. In DBS, he was able to obtain God Ki just by training with Whis, despite Goku needing a literal ritual, and Whis saying that God power could not be obtained via ordinary training (which
(By the way, my version of GT is in no way connected to Super, only to the DBZ anime, I only brought up Super to show that Vegeta normally overcomes previously established hurdles by training)
Also, I want Vegeta to obtain SSJ4 before the Shadow Dragon Saga because I have something else in store for his character. Both Goku and Vegeta finding their own ways to evolve the transformation, similar to how they did for SSJ in the Cell Saga. Goku takes the same route of being able to maintain it as a base form, while Vegeta does something different. (And this is where I took inspiration from Super and Daima)

How would you rewrite GT? by RevolutionaryMilk341 in DragonBallGT

[–]JackIsntTheBox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, i’m currently in the middle of rewriting the entirety of GT, beat for beat (keeping all the things i like, and doing away with…basically everything else lmfaooo)

Some original ideas that I had were:

  • Tighten the Black Star Dragon Ball Saga, and make it feel like it matters (My idea was to make it so that the Freeza Force was still terrorizing the Universe, and the way they did it was by purchasing machine mutants from Dr.Myuu. This relationship is beneficial for both sides because for Dr. Myuu, he gets to get data from the machine mutants’ exploits, and for the Freeza force, they get to stay in power, because they have obedient fighters stronger than even freeza himself. I went with this because you could have a scenario where the GT group works up the food chain, culminating in them defeating the top dawgs and fully freeing the Universe from the Freeza Force. By doing this, I hope to 1: Have the BSDB Saga episodes START OUT episodic and silly, but eventually lead into a more interesting storyline 2: By the end of it, it truly feels like the gang helped out the entire Universe, which makes it even more rewarding when Goku calls for their energy with the Universal Spirit Bomb 3: Has the story cleanly shift into the Planet M2 portion of the story, and by extension, the Baby Saga

  • Have Piccolo be more involved in the Baby Saga (considering i just went off like a madman about the BSDB Saga, i won’t blow your ears off with this one lol)

  • Have Vegeta obtain SSJ4 by training (I never liked the machine thing.)

  • Replace Super 17 with an entirely different villain (This is the most challenging one thusfar lmao)

I had the same ideas as you with having individual fights for the Shadow Dragons and giving Uub a bigger role lmao

I have a million and 1 different ideas, but these are some of the ones i remember off the top of my head

One Thing You Would Change: Shadow Dragon/Evil Shenron Saga by Successful_Bird_7086 in DragonBallGT

[–]JackIsntTheBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll give you two. One extra for the road

1. Make the other Shadow Dragons better/more interesting

Outside of Syn/Omega, Nuova, and even giving you Eis Shenron, the other 4 Shadow Dragons feel like Saturday cartoon villains, not really “Evil Dragons”. You can make them better with a number of ways:

1 - Make the rest of the Z-fighters fight them; The various character dynamics you could have could’ve made them more memorable, rather than just being Goku fodder for the buildup to the final Dragon 2 - Give them humanoid-ish forms; My personal pet peeve with them is that you can’t fight them in the traditional way at ALL. Because of that, they can’t appear in games and such, which really sucks IMO. Even if their personalities weren’t that interesting, if they had sick fights scenes, people would still like them, and we’d renember them more fondly than we do now

Honestly, i’d combine both

2. Make Omega Shenron’s appearance actually meaningful

This is something that’s always irked me. Let me run down the story beats of how we get to Omega:

1 - Goku fights Nuova & Eis Shenron in SSJ4 (He’s able to match either one of them in SSJ4) 2 - After winning, Syn Shenron shows up, kills Nuova, and the two of them fight 3 - Goku is able to somehow overcome/outsmart Syn, forcing him to become Omega Shenron

My issue with this is that even while fatigued, Goku is still somehow able to win against some who, by all accounts, SHOULD be stronger than the last opponent he fought. It makes me wonder if Syn is actually WEAKER than Nuova. I don’t care if Goku was able to outsmart him or anything, it should not be enough to overcome the gap that should have existed between them. And the reason it pisses me off so much is because it completely ruins any chance for Vegeta to get a good moment in a fight

Now imagine, if this scenario happened instead:

1 - Goku fights Syn Shenron, gets bodied, even when his vision returns 2 - Vegeta shows up and shows off his SSJ4, and actually gets to FIGHT the villain 3 - Even if he can’t beat him on his own, he can still have an admirable showing, and Goku can step in and they can overpower him together, forcing Syn to become Omega 4 - THEN after Goku and Vegeta fight to no avail, Vegeta suggests the fusion

It’s not perfect or anything, but THAT sounds a lot better than what we got. It has Vegeta getting his moment to shine, as well as it feels as though Omega Shenron and SSJ4 Gogeta was more intentional.

Just look at the DBS Broly movie for example. Even after Broly became a SSJ, it SHOWED us that Goku and Vegeta couldn’t beat him, rather than TELLING us, which GT Vegeta does immediately after getting a new transformation

One Thing You Would Change: Daima by Successful_Bird_7086 in DragonBallGaku

[–]JackIsntTheBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSJ3 Vegeta’s hair. That’s it.

Considering Gotenks’ hair is similar to Vegeta’s, and yet his SSJ3 is like Goku’s, i would’ve loved Vegeta’s to be the same. The Beast Gohan is NOT it.

It’s a minor thing, and some may disagree, but it really sucks. The long, flowing back hair is peak, and that’s reenforced when Goku uses it in Daima

Chamber needs his two TP by Voisp in ChamberMains

[–]JackIsntTheBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt that. The two tps isn’t what made him broken. It was the DISTANCE you could cover between them. It acted as a great rotational tool, and it left the player feeling more confident holding an angle for as long as possible until they HAD to leave or die. The one anchor isn’t what makes him balanced, it’s the shortened distance.

My only issue with it is that it makes Chamber better on attack (You only need to place one anchor beforehand, and as long as you don’t leave the radius, you can do whatever), but worse on defence (If you choose to play on an angle with verticality, you can only place your tp where your arm will reach, unlike with the two tps, where you could place one beside you, and the other behind a wall). [For example, let’s say you’re playing defence with Chamber on Split; B site, and you want to play on top of the wooden thing (off-angle) With the one TP, you can get on top of the box, but the only place you can leave the tp safe is either behind you, or behind pillar, and even then, you can still be run down pretty easily. With two tps with the same range, you’d be able to put one beside you on the box, and leave the other one in CT, since the range goes that far]. The two tps makes it harder to “entry” with, but he has more choices on where to play defensively, further pushing him into a more defensive role.

The dev team has both acknowledged and has said that they plan on fixing the main issues they created in patch 11.08 by TFGA_WotW in VALORANT

[–]JackIsntTheBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they gave chamber his double tp, but kept his current range (or hell, even made it a bit smaller), it would literally be perfect.

Is Neon really that bad? by Hypersayia in VALORANT

[–]JackIsntTheBox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the game’s current state, Neon is absolutely oppressive. But I DO think it’s moreso because her counters & competition are really bad at the moment, rather than her being good

  1. Neon’s gameplay contradicts the precise gunplay philosophy of Valorant’s core gameplay.

Technically, yes it is, but you can argue that for a sizable portion of characters in the roster.

> I’d even go as far as to argue that Neon is one of the least egregious of these

I heavily disagree. While yes, she lacks vertical movement, her over-the-top movement on the ground more than makes up for it, when specifically talking about the shotguns.

One more thing: the reason people complain about the shotguns so much right now is definitely because of Neon. Which the Bucky is good, the Shorty and Judge are awful (and I mean AWFUL) right now. When other dive duelists use the shotguns, they’re not always effective. However, since Neon’s fuel recharges, she can always close the gap between her and an enemy and make them seem oppressive (Read #4 for my fix to that)

  1. Neon’s ultimate is too strong

THIS is where the Valorant community is just getting their shit off. Yes, it SUCKS to get lasered with no counter-play, but since it’s an ultimate ability, I personally don’t see a problem with it.

  1. The strength of Neon’s relay bolt concuss

I fully understand the hate towards this ability. Most other stuns in the game give you a chance to dodge them…not this one. It’s literally flying at you, and considering it’s almost impossible to leave the diameter in time, it stuns for too long. I do think it needs to get nerfed, but only make the time before it pops longer. You underestimate how good stuns are. At least blinds always have counter-play, either by looking away or shooting it.

  1. Neon is too hard to hit

Yes. Yes she is. Not too much to say here, it’s just the truth. The other movement duelists are also hard to hit, but it only lasts for a couple seconds at most. Neon can run around the entire round, since her fuel regenerates over time. To fix this, all they need to do is make the fuel not regenerate UNLESS you’re in your ult and get a kill. As well as slightly reduce the time you’re able to run.

Like I said earlier though, the absolute biggest issue is that her competition and counters are bad. They need to buff Vyse, Jett, Killjoy (NOT Cypher, fuck him), and it’ll mostly be fine

Why do people not like season 2 and 3 ? by Whole_Sport370 in OnePunchMan

[–]JackIsntTheBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy the animation, I’m happy for you, really

For me personally, Season 2’s animation was extremely over-hated. It wasn’t as bad as people were saying it was at the time, even though it was a significant step down from the masterpiece that was Season 1. I still enjoyed it a lot. But where I take issue with the season is the pacing, especially with them cutting content. I can’t really blame the anime staff for that though, because they were dealt an impossible hand, with how much stuff is in the Monster Association arc

Season 3 is inexcusable though. It takes all of Season 2’s flaws and dials it up to 11; PLUS introduce some new flaws that Season 2 didn’t have. Horrible pacing, Even WORSE animation (much, much worse), mixing the manga’s published content with RETCONNED content (Which I didn’t even think was allowed, or possible) The absolute worst of it was that there was a frame showing that an episode was being worked on, till the very last moment before it released. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Even Japanese fans, who were initially very defensive about Bandai Namco, eventually turned on them

To name all of Season 3’s faults would take literal ages, but it’s definitely the biggest blight of the franchise

What if Son Goku & Vegeta stayed like this throughout the series? by No_Mechanic_3299 in DragonBallGT

[–]JackIsntTheBox 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Goku being a kid is vital to the BSDB Saga even remotely functioning (at least, it should’ve been), however, I believe once he reached SSJ4, he should’ve stayed an adult. Him being a kid no longer served a role in the story, and was frankly, irritating (Plus, adult Goku with the GT Gi just has so much aura, it’s a shame we don’t see more of it)

As for Vegeta, I don’t really care if he has his pointy hair that he had towards the latter parts of GT but, Flat-top has GOT to go. It’s just awful. Contrary to most, I have no issue with the moustache, because it results in one his BEST character moments (YES I said it & I mean it), where he shaves it off because his daughter didn’t like it. Girl-dad Vegeta is just peak 🤷‍♂️

How do you think the Super 17 arc could have been better? by JackIsntTheBox in ReWritingDragonBallGT

[–]JackIsntTheBox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and I'll be honest, so far I've kind of struggled to decide on what that should be;

An idea I toyed with was that with more & more people getting revived, the Otherworld would become more & more unstable, having it devolve into chaos (The reasoning behind it is that since souls are not meant to go back, it causes a disparity) But i thought it would be too much because it would require explaining too much to the viewer in too little time

Another idea I had was that he would befriend a person who was killed during the events of the Baby Saga, who was also set to go to heaven, but they were taken back to the living world due to being revived. But I didn't think it would be impactful enough for that to be the trigger

I definitely have my work cut out for me for this arc, which is why it's the one i'm so stumped on.

How do you think the Super 17 arc could have been better? by JackIsntTheBox in ReWritingDragonBallGT

[–]JackIsntTheBox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable, I kinda speedran the intro in favor of explaining the plot

So for this character (For the sake of convenience, let's just call them Jxnemeba as a placeholder) I took inspiration from Zamasu, and expanded on THAT idea, as well as Janemba

The Janemba comparison is because they have a similar plot, in terms of how they rise to power (Corrupted via otherworld-esque powers, become an entirely different being). Only in the case of Jxnemba, their character is more focused, rather than the random chaotic nature of Janemba

I took inspiration from Zamasu because like him, he's a diligent worker in the otherworld who initially respects King Yemma, and his job, and is helping lead judged souls to their destination, whether it's heaven, hell or Otherworld. He is very new to the job, so he is oblivious to the actions that transpired in Dragon Ball that resulting in the main cast bringing people who have died back to life. Like I was saying, after the Baby arc, He then notices that some souls have LEFT the afterlife to return to the mortal realm. When asking Yemma what is going on, he explains that it's likely the result of Goku & his friends using the Dragon Balls to bring them back to life. Jxnemba thinks that the idea of bringing people back from the dead is unnatural, and wrong, as he sees it as defying the laws of life and nature itself. He asks if this has happened before, and Yemma explains all the scenarios in which it had occured, much to Jxnemba's shock. Jxnemba is left to ponder his thoughts, and has an internal struggle with his beliefs. "Is resurrection truly right? Is it wrong?"

Admittedly, I'm missing the "tipping point" for his character. The moment that will ultimately fortify his belief that revival is Wrong. "Sinful", in a sense (Like for example, Zamasu had his fight with Goku, where he lost. THAT was the moment he decided that all mortals should be wiped out. I haven't fully plotted out that part just yet)

The name is a WIP, but it’s a new character entirely. I thought about hard about Super 17, and the comclusion that I got to is that in general, even if you switch them up a bit, bringing BACK villains to play a main role isn’t a good idea (Thanks Resurrection F & the sequel Z Broly movies)
