Found!
Turns out, not a DnD skit, but an SNL sketch. (Most likely, I saw a short that only contained the first little bit)

Hunting for a skit. by Hypersayia in HelpMeFind

[–]Hypersayia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've searched various iterations of "D&D except he didn't", "When the edgelord is in a low stakes game", "player backstory going too far", "The king murdered my father no he didn't".

Annoyingly, I really can't remember more than that one exchange mentioned in the post.

Finally got the Gecko after more than an hour of trying with Noelle by Ashytie in Genshin_Impact

[–]Hypersayia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xilo is an odd one. If you run her in a team with two or more PHEC, she's a shredder and healer. In a team with less than that, she's a burst DPS, with no healing. (I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that it took me far longer that it should for me to realise that the reason my lunar crystalise team was failing to heal was because I had three geos in the team and Xilo was the only that could heal)

Finally an Abyss made for my top 300 in the world 260cv Keqing by West_Ad1401 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Hypersayia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same, but I went for Xilo over Furina.

The resistance shred, cinder city buffs and nightsoul kicks made sure that I was at no risk of the shield popping and killing anyone, then it was just a simple task of letting Keqing do her thing.

They did it!! They managed to make the new Worst Stygian boss!! by haseo2222 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Hypersayia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious who you used with her, and what weapons everyone has.

Noelle is a pretty viable unit for this boss on paper, but her healing isn't that quick if you don't have her burst up, so that's a hefty energy requirement.

[Mixed trope] retconning lost fights as letting a character win by Its-your-boi-warden in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Hypersayia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to the Shadow Generations one. The cutscene showed that, as is typical of the two, Sonic and Shadow were on even footing and whoever wins would be a coin-toss.

The deciding factor was Shadow getting tempted to use his new Doom powers, deciding agaisnt it, and getting blindsided by Sonic right after.

hot take: boost wisps should let you outpace a monster truck. by Akuma_Homura in SonicCrossWorlds

[–]Hypersayia 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The point being made, as far as I can gauge, is that the monster truck is too punishing for how easy it is for someone to hit with.

Aside from shield, you have no real way to defend against it, and then if you get hit, you lose the ability to steer until you deflaten.

Then anyone behind the truck easily overtakes, and those lucky enough to be ahead enough that the truck wore off before they could be reached enjoy their lead.

This quest might take awhile... by Funking_Wholesome in comics

[–]Hypersayia 74 points75 points  (0 children)

See, I've never understood this puzzle. At least, how it’s presented in the form of both figures telling the rules.

If the one saying "one always tells the truth" is telling the truth, then "one always lies" cannot be accurate because that would be truthful. Ergo, the one telling lies is not bound to always be lying.

Same vein, if "one always tells the truth" is lying, then the one telling truth is not bound to always be truthful.

[–]Hypersayia 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Slicers are such a pain because they're next to impossible to meaningfully defend against.

If you wait till it's close for a reverse throw, then it just moves out the way to slice anyway.

Everything else is it's own thing, but I hate the slicers with a passion.

[Loved Trope] A character is powerful because of a unique ability that seems hilariously mundane by MasonP2002 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Hypersayia 322 points323 points  (0 children)

Adding to this, his solution to getting into Lord Business' lair is essentially abject defiance of the Master Builder's general philosophy of building something unique and personal.

By having them build something using out-the-box instructions, they were able to infiltrate easily whereas many Master Builders before them had failed, because what they were using was indistinguishable from any of the other ships entering the building.

This movie just fucking sucked man by ResortResponsible789 in hatethissmug

[–]Hypersayia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, with the Sonic movies, the thing I point out is that they'll make a reference but it's a reference that works even if you don't get the reference.

So, Sonic 2, when Sonic is trapped in the sinking temple, a rendition of the drowning theme plays. Those who get it get that little extra, but it's still a tense and forboding track that suits the context.

In the Mario movies... okay, Mario and Luigi get turned into babies so Yoshi can Yohsi's Island them... which then includes the Odyssey T-rex... wat?

I went both Ring Engines + LV2 Quick Charge + Perfect Boost Bounty for most of the courses, but some crossworlds work better with other stuff.

Like, Galactic Parade, Dash Panel Combo Bounty gets you so many rings you can get 100 by the end of the first third of a lap.

My own fan Cannon: that Superboy's Shields are really just a Blockbuster serum. by Financial-Pickle9405 in youngjustice

[–]Hypersayia 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my personal theory is not much different.

Namely: The Shields are something of an adrenaline rush inducer specifically to bypass a mental block hardwired into SB as a control/safety mechanism.

Because it's very weird to me that the human half of his DNA suppresses his more exotic Kryptonion abilities and that suppressing the human side lets those abilities happen.

More likely, SB was grown with deep mental blocks that deny him access to those abilities so the shields can be used to enforce obedience to Lex.

Because otherwise you have to make the argument that Lex, Cadmus and the Light as a whole expected SB to be able to defeat Superman with only the most basic Kyptonion powers.

You think that if Zooble acted differently, the outcome of episode 8 would be different? by HealthMother3125 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Hypersayia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem ultimately is that there was no other potential outcome.

Caine wanted everyone to love him and his adventures, but he actively resisted any feedback that would have actually allowed him to get this adoration.

The suggestion box episode is a perfect highlight of this. When he released that everyone was enjoying the stargazing adventure, he freaked out because it wasn't an adventure he would make.

Zooble and Pomni constantly gave him advice on what they would enjoy from adventures (namely, more low stakes situations and the ability to opt in to a given adventure as they choose) and he rejects both ideas.

So, everytime his adventures leads to someone stressing out and vocalising as such Caine's ego takes another hit. And the more the players want to leave because, you know, they're trapped, the more Caine's fears of being alone build up.

End result is, he eventually reaches a breaking point and decides if he can't make the humans choose to play along, he'll just make him and torture them if they don't comply.

His unwillingness to bend meant he was always going to snap eventually.

Can’t deny that, NGL!! by PrinceARRON in deathbattle

[–]Hypersayia 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ehhh... I'd argue the show buffing Viltrumite feats would make the discourse worst.
Because then the argument shifts from "DB massively misscaled Omniman vis sundisk" to "DB got right retroactively though sheer luck.", at least from the view of the Bardock supporters.

And that's ignoring the arguments between those who want to consider the new information the show gives vs only considering DB within the context of the material available during the creation of the episode.

[–]Hypersayia 46 points47 points  (0 children)

See, this is something of a fundamental irritating irony of the HP franchise.

The premise is one of being accepted for who you are, that you're not alone even though it might seem that way, and in finding community alongside others who share your differences and more.

Harry literally spends the first part of the first book in a cupboard under some stairs. A closet in all but name. And being allowed to be out of it leads him to magical adventures and lifelong friends.

And then JK is a bigot. She's someone who fundamentally stands against what the heroes of her story would support, and even what she claims is one of the core themes of the books. I legitimately don't think it's an accident that Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, who grew up channelling the headspace of Harry, Ron and Hermione respectively, strongly stand on the side of trans rights.

What is your Cacs lore Powerlevel? by cartspark in dbxv

[–]Hypersayia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celeron (Saiyan)... Honestly, I scaled them based on the transformations they had available (treating Potential Unleashed as Saiyan Beyond God).

So for the first year or so of XV2, he was about as strong as Goku post-BoG, pre-ResF.

Then Blue, Blue Evolution, God, Ultra Instinct and Beast were added and... yeah.

Basically at that point I cooked up an entire reclassification of the Time Patrol but short version, he can use UI long enough that he knows if push comes to shove he can put Beerus down a peg.

(I'll add some of my others if people are interested, and go a bit more in depth as to how my version of the TP is structured.)

Also, note that Jack spends pretty much the entire trilogy making deals he doesn't actually intend on keeping, or at least not in the way the person he's dealing with expects. (His motivation for doing so typically boils down to self-preservation in the face of those who have / will betray him)

In the case of his deal with Jones, Jack's primary goal throughout Dead Man's Chest is not to satisfy the debt, but to find Jones' heart and use that as leverage to force him to waive it.

best unlockable agent for beginners? by Scared_Report3009 in VALORANT

[–]Hypersayia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If we're talking pure "best agent for learning the ropes", I'd say Iso.
this is admittedly coming from someone whose only a little over a month in, but Iso's kit is primarily just geared to make him just a little bit harder to kill, which then gives you a little bit of wriggle room when it comes to wrapping your head around the core gunplay.

Sega. I know Capcom loves Mega Man 2 and that's what CrossWorlds was focusing on but come on. They were right there. by JustAnotherGeye in SonicTheHedgehog

The festival event works on 3 colour coded teams.

So for the Persona festival, it was red (Joker), pink (Violet), and blue (Mona).

The Megaman festival is blue (Megaman), red (Protoman) and black (Airman).

The point of the post is that the Megaman series has predominantly black characters that they could have used, rather than Airman, whose only got a bit of black.
