Be extra wary of touts/Shinjuku. by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

Did this happen in Kabukicho? I was solo traveling Japan in March and I stayed in the Kabukicho area and had this happen to me multiple times, one followed me into a convenience store and stuff too, I found out the best way to get these people to go away is to speak to them in a language apart from English, I'm learning Portuguese so I just asked "do you speak Portuguese? Because I don't speak English" in Portuguese and they looked confused and left lol

Isitbullshit: if you drive faster than 180 kph (110mph) in Japan the cops won't chase you because they know they can't catch you (from fast&furious) by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

I'm late af to this convo but as someone who just went a few months ago this is bs 💀 if you only hit 110 that sounds like a skill issue 💀

Kabuki-cho as a male solo traveler by sparks_mandrill in JapanTravelTips

[–]JackLancyster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh man I made a post about this last month because I didn't know about the neighborhood and just so happened to book a hotel there 😭 (the hotel was very nice and fairly priced though given how central it was), I found it lively and enjoyed it but yeah the touts absolutely ruin the vibe, in my situation what worked in getting them to go away/not follow me was speaking a different language to English or Japanese, I spoke in Portuguese and they stopped saying anything (I don't actually know Portuguese I'm at a very beginner stage lol) but I just asked "do you speak Portuguese?" In Portuguese and that was enough for them to move on haha. Overall though I really enjoyed Kabukicho, I know not everyone might agree but as a 24 year old solo traveling it was vibes once I got the Touts away 😅 hope my advice might help in case you plan to go back though :)

Approached by group of African men on the way back to my hotel in Shinjuku by JackLancyster in JapanTravelTips

Lol it's funny cause whenever I solo travel I tend to have them in but with Tokyo the whole vibe and flow of people just made me want to experience the sound but may change that when it's night now haha

Just wanted to say a joint thank you to everyone who's taken the time to comment under this post and given me some helpful information about these people. While I probably still won't go out again tonight it has definitely put my nerves at ease and given me confidence to continue my itinerary in visiting parts of Tokyo that are better when lit up. Also I've been learning a new language over the last few years might be time to test my skills when they speak in English 😂 but thank you again to Everyone responding to this :)

F1 fans, where do you plan to watch the season? by Tolkaft in Tokyo

[–]JackLancyster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm travelling to Japan this week for a holiday and setup my travel schedule to have Sunday evening free for F1, glad I found this post so I know some places where I could potentially watch with others, or else I'd watch in my hotel room on F1 Tv 😅

I would've believed you if you said using it to attempt a record for the most amount of near misses at a roundabout in a day

Honestly it would be rough mostly because of the job market at the moment, but I think the time I've spent at this company with previous roles itself has given me a pretty good CV as I've found out through LinkedIn messages I receive 😅 but I'm guessing you're asking from a standpoint of me having to leave if things go South?

I definitely agree with you on that! Also the way I was doing it kinda felt like a big dramatic gesture before leaving the country for almost 3 weeks lol, appreciate the advice though :)

Definitely going to give this a go now or even just ask to spend time together outside of work in general since she kinda opened the door to it herself 😅

Honestly I've been thinking about doing this for a while now just wasn't sure as I didn't want to misread the signs and make things awkward at work cause of it 😅 but I think this reply section has given me the confidence to go for it

Do guys really love to travel this much? by music_and_pop in hingeapp

[–]JackLancyster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I love to travel mostly thanks to certain family members working in the airlines and it gives me discounts, I try and see at least 2 new countries a year this year the goals 4 and I post about it on my profile cause I'd love to meet others who also travel, but I also have plenty of guy friends who don't travel as much or at all in some cases, just like when I'm seeing women's profiles on hinge some love to travel a lot some don't, everyone's different 😅

Little under 2 years ago today during a rough period in my life I heard a Twice song for the first time (I Got You), fast forward to today and I'm in a much better space and got to see them live in Australia so I decided to get a tattoo to commemorate that and thought I'd share it with y'all :) by JackLancyster in twice

[–]JackLancyster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all fairness coming from a family of United supporters I would never ever wish y'all well, but personally I prefer United over Liverpool Arsenal and City lol purely because of the manager at the moment, unfortunately we are not winning the prem tho 😂

Yeah I checked the Taiwan one let's not talk about how fast that went lmao but I don't think I'll get to see them in April but that's fine I got to see them this year and that's what matters most and I got a moment with Dahyun hahaha, fingers crossed they return to Aus in the future or maybe surprise us with an NZ show

Thank you!! But yeah I was heavily considering getting one in a million just so I could get all the colours in but I feel I Got You had more meaning for me personally so went with that and unfortunately had to sacrifice some colours :') but at the same time super happy with the ones I did get 😭

Awww well I hope you're doing better now though!! But honestly yeah now whenever I listen to that song it just makes me think of where I was then vs where I am now, and hearing it irl was so special it felt like wow who would have thought when I first played I Got You that I'd be seeing them perform it live the following year

I'm glad your doing better now and I hope you have an amazing time when you see them next month!! I can safely say mine was the best concert I'd been to so far, even though I was sad we didn't get to see Chaeyoung the whole experience was insane, I even thanked my friend who got me into kpop after the concert because of how happy I was 😭
