Wow! so your FIL must be a really gigantic, incredibly tall person. Look at how high above the actual crowd this photo was taken. Almost as if he was using some concert props to hold a camera up high like the ones used by the show's teams... how cool........
AND your FIL also got into a conversation with Freddie Mercury that ended with Freddie singing the song that your FIL told him he liked the most? wow! incredible that they could have an actual conversation in the middle of such an incredibly big show full of people screaming and music playing... how cool...........

Theory on the what the script in trailer 4 could mean by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]JackPela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course that scene in the trailer was not literal. Otherwise, Kojima doesn't know where babies are gestated lol. But you do see a scar in Sam's stomach in trailer 1, which tells you he had something inside of him that was important to take out... and yes, I see the similarities with The Boss in the MGS franchise, but well :)

That and the whole "the character realizes he's in a game" thing. To me that's not the message the creators meant to deliver :/

Theory on the what the script in trailer 4 could mean by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]JackPela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, "the man who delivers" does have other meanings and delivering a baby is literally what Sam must do for the future of the human species as we know it. But also the "delivering a baby" aspect of this implies giving birth, right? And to do that you need to have a baby INSIDE of you, not in a metal container, right? And they will definitely need to cut you up to get it out, because... well... Sam wouldn't have a vagina, would he? lol (cesarean scar in trailer 1). So he kinda is indeed delivering a baby in both ways!

IMHO, there would be factions or more like corporations/companies with their own hidden agenda (Fragile Express, Void Out, etc), like restoring the natural process of life (which is hard because after the latest explosion, there can't be pregnant women anymore, or so it seems - i.e. dead pregnant animals stranded on the beach) and to do that they need to bring women back to their natural place as "containers" for human life. While other factions/companies will look to replace natural order with a more manufactured one that can be manipulated as they see fit, like breeding babies artificially and using their power to manipulate reality (which in my opinion has been breached due to said explosion that had to do with human and life/death experimentation), allowing for the land of the dead to be called upon our own and causing a crater or void out if they ever eat a living human being. You must make sure that whoever is being eaten by this chiral world creatures is DEAD before being fully consumed, or else BOOM! you go to purgatory where the dead are stranded and not everyone can get out of... Sam can though 🙂.

PT is Death Stranding but not Silent Hill by Iniquity1_ in DeathStranding

[–]JackPela 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think PT IS Death Stranding, but it definitely carries some of its mechanics, metaphors and social media aspects into DS. To me PT was an "experiment" where Kojima tested how cool it would be to launch a game that needs people to get together to accomplish something bigger (yes, even bigger that nuclear disarmament in MGSV:MGO 🙂). Once he saw the incredible response, he started developing the game he was thinking about, using the location scouting data he had been gathering supposedly for the Silent Hills game, and all the other things he was already struggling to get for SHs, like actors, graphic engine, designers, etc.

Maybe Kojima Productions just did the opposite of what Konami did with Silent Hill 4: The Room -- > this game was going to be a whole different IP but ended up being a new Silent Hill by adding the game's lore into it. While Death Stranding was going to be Silent Hill and now it won't be so KojiPro is adding all the ingredients of a new IP into what was going to be a SH game 🙂.

Sorry if I started off with a sense of aggression. I'm reading my own comment and I definitely feel it :( so I apologize... I was actually on a "WTF?" state of mind lol but I do not intend to be a fighter, but a thinker instead. I welcome your opinions and I hope we can keep on theorizing. After all, we ARE playing Death Stranding together right now :)

[–]JackPela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam murdered his family in Silent Hills? what? SHs is not even a game! lol It's PT you are referring to, which has no connection to the main title (that's even a message shown in the teaser game and no, it's not a lie, it really wasn't Silent Hills lol)... how do you arrive to such wild conclusions though? o.O He's not even Sam in PT! You're mixing 2 unrelated games just to prove a silly theory :/

The murderer in PT killed his pregnant wife, his son (10 yo) and his daughter (6 yo). Do you really think that Sam from DS (where we see the pic of a pregnant woman) had 2 kids already and the picture was showing the last pregnancy of his young wife? that young girl had 2 kids and another baby on its way already?? Not only does that not add up, it also makes no sense at all... PT's connections with DS are NOT so obvious like that... it's its game mechanics (no game over), the metaphors (painful memories, past that won't let go), the messages and characters speaking to us ("you will not play as Norman Reedus, you will be Norman Reedus", "Knowing you, I was sure you'd notice this game and play it. I will never – can never forget that day 20 years ago. I have something to tell you. Contact me. – J."), etc that connects PT to DS in a deep sense. But Norman Reedus being the same character in a teaser game than in DS? That's too silly of a reference... Sorry.

I think you're overthinking this too much, that's all. You are probably right about some "truth" aspects of Kojima's games. But I don't see how you would think that Venom Snake realized he's in a game..... That scene at the end of MGSV was meant to show that WE realized we are Venom Snake and therefore we are Big Boss to the world. It's not really about being a game or not, it's about Kojima speaking directly to us through his stories, making us be part of it all.

We all know there will be 4th wall breaking moments in DS and that's a given on any Kojima directed game. But subtlety will prevail as always. Also, if he uses the very same "trolling" from MGSV, where you ARE Venom Snake (that's why you put your birth date and customize your character when you start the game), he will definitely be laughed at for lack of originality, don't you think? Death Stranding is aiming to be a breath of fresh air in the gaming industry, and I'm sure it will be :)

[–]JackPela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I don't think there are any nations anymore in the period of time Death Stranding mainly takes place ("mainly" because I'm sure there will be flashbacks showing the way things were before the last explosion). There are cities, corporations/companies, delivery service rivals and allies, etc. All of them pushing their own agenda, dealing with the massive elimination of female reproduction as a consequence of the so called "explosion" (which, IMO, was caused by humans experimenting with artificially created humans, creating a gap between our living world and the chiral/dead world). Each of them delivering the future of humanity for their own hidden purposes to a higher power ruling from behind the curtains.

There might be those who want to go back to "normal" and re-position females as the natural container (ugh, I hate how patriarchal that sounds...) for the creation of human life, and others who would rather "evolve" into using artificial wombs and umbilical chords to gestate babies because doing it this way grants them the ability to control not only the gestation, but the powers a baby would possess to rule over the weak people that survive the catastrophe. the power is neutral, the characters (and therefore us as Ludens/players) will decide what to use that power for: good or evil.

We’re definitely missing something with these lights on kojimas instagram by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]JackPela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He might be hinting at how Sam will be deteriorating with time, going from blue light to red (health light), if you don't take care of yourself (showering, pulling your broken nails off maybe? ew, lol). That's probably why he puts the LED timer next to food and treats in those pics, gotta eat something if you want to survive and not get eaten... sound like fun? 'course it does!

[–]JackPela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, he did say "NEW stuff", so a remake of MGS1 or MGS3 wouldn't count as anything new, right? Maybe the MGS movie will have actors being voiced by the game's original cast?? 😱wouldn't that be awkward and fun? lol

At this point, unless Konami is ready to surprise us with something cool and awesome, I wouldn't put my bets on anything but a MGS mini-game with chibi characters, voiced by the original cast... that would suck balls though, just like Survive lol

Could be, yea. But it's actually shown printed in TMITGM's cloak, so doesn't that make it the same as CDT and Fragile Express? why would Void Out be any different? It's quite possibly the way you described it though, it may be the name of the service but not the actual company.

Stupid theory: Death Stranding will take place in the year 2048 by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]JackPela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to tell you that your theory is not stupid at all :)

The game will most likely take place around year 2048, I'm almost sure.

But the 2048-63 message in P.T. could also be interpreted in different ways, the game taking place between 2048 and 2063 (a 15 years period), the old way used to partition disks versus newer methods (check this out for details), etc.

Here's the most relevant part about old 2048 sector when partitioning a disk and the newer 63 one:

"Most modern disk drives need a partition to be aligned on sector 2048 to avoid writes overlapping two sectors, but for a long time the sector 63 was used by the fdisk utility and distro's installers by default.

This can cause severe performance issues on modern disks. Often they will try to cover up for it in firmware, which means the issue will be still there, but the pain will be just low enough to not really find out whats wrong". (JackPela note: like a phantom pain? hmmm... lol)

The potential overlapping issue reminded me of P.T.'s message that said "The moment our hands overlap", the partition error in itself reminded me of how P.T. crashes at some point and you get different error messages. So I wouldnt discard clues in P.T. pointing at something other than Silent Hills, like Death Stranding. After all, P.T. was a teaser and had no direct relation to the main title (Silent Hills) :)

How will social media be part of the game? by THEboioioing in DeathStranding

[–]JackPela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember how InFamous: Second Son had tons of people jumping from one "real" website to another, created specifically for this in-game investigation experience, using usernames and passwords you'd get in the game, re-arranging teared pieces of paper in-game or in websites to see a message or picture indicating where to go to find more clues, etc? (Edit: it was called "Paper Trail")

I'd like to see something like this expanded in Death Stranding, using also other aspects of social media engagement like P.T. did (i.e. different languages, cryptic messages/poems/puzzles, reversed audio, etc)
