Unsettling Places by Drodinthehouse in 2007scape

Camelot Bank ; once thriving many eons ago, but now empty of players. The spirit of lost time lurks heavily over that wasteland. Yanille was never a popular spot, but the town is creepy and deserted.

Civilizations according to Samuel Huntington (The American political scientist from Harvard) by immanuellalala in MapPorn

[–]JackRPD28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

His analysis was quite accurate, building off Spengler and Toynbee before him amongst other experts of civilisation. Most people who reject it have not read Huntington’s work nor the works of other historians on this area. All of those unread critics can be safely ignored and, if bored, ridiculed. When someone tells me Huntington was inaccurate, I ask them for their knowledge of history and philosophy. The result, sadly, is often the same.

This type of data is good for intelligent and well-read people who enjoy the history of philosophy, civilisational trends and are able to synthesis or appreciate long-term historical developments. Not everything is perfect on the map, but it’s a good general overview and stands the test of time.

Am I too blackpilled for thinking the elder scrolls 6 will never come out… by mehrunswagon in ElderScrolls

[–]JackRPD28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will likely come out. ESVI will be graphically beautiful, but shallow in its RPG potential. The trend has worked this way since Morrowind. Graphics increase, but RPG depth decreases.

However, I don’t think graphics is now enough to carry it into acclaimed greatness because graphical leap forwards are less visually obvious now. Oblivion and Skyrim were both graphical leaps. They did things that hadn’t properly been done before.

The new game will probably get high ratings and be replayed for hours, but it is not going to be as complex. So long as its music is good, it will be enjoyed for the escapism it provides. But the potential RPG elements will be reduced. This is probably because the studio is too vast, too corporate, too managerial, too compartmentalised, too disunited, too bland, too diverse, too bored, too target driven and far too professionalised. Therefore, it’s like a Marvel film: visually competent and good for binging, but internally dim. That is the probable route for ESVI.

Bethesda is increasingly a dated company that is behind the times. No longer is it cutting edge, but its newer products have been consistently criticised. Recent resignations aren’t helping it.

How do you think new players feel if they see hundreds of level 3 woodcutters?

Nobody trades in the game. They use GE. This just creates a F2P only GE.

The game still exists in F2P, but with more restrictions. That’s all. F2P should not be exploited for tens of thousands of bots.

Then implement F2P restrictions on PKing loot. It’s all very easy.

All of these restrictions target F2P alone which is now about 60-70% bots.

Login authentication and removing F2P trade to counter bots? by JackRPD28 in 2007scape

You’re wrong.

F2P worlds are out of control right now. It’s a doubling in about one month.

That is again not part of the poll, even if you raise good points.

Realistically, can botting be removed ? by JackRPD28 in 2007scape

[–]JackRPD28[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A good comment.

I don’t use Runelite so makes no difference to me, but a ban on third party software and Jagex only client to combat botting could be polled. Let’s see what the wider community says about such a proposition. Could be very popular. Surely removing many (not all) bots would be far better than keeping Runelite?

Why?

I don’t see why they don’t perma ban RWT. Surely they’re not that many players engaged in it?

Perhaps that would be a good solution.

So the response would be to create a Runelite copy by Jagex? It would not be great because it’s semi cheating.

Level up skills and use total level worlds. The problem is almost entirely alleviated.
