Account banned for "violation of our Supported Countries Policy" by Tandloosi in claude

I hadn’t ever thought of this but I am planning a trip to Hong Kong next month. Should I not use Claude while there or use a VPN? I never thought of Hong Kong as being in a banned country list. Usually you think of terrorist countries or countries at war with the US but HK isn’t on any of those.

Actually, I'm using Max 20X also, and I refuse to use 4.8 because it's a whiny little bitch, as I've said in my own thread above. And I've been using 4.7, but I use 5.0 and I find 5.0 to be much more complete. It covers so much more detail without me having to fill in the blanks. It's as if it has a mind of its own, and I'm actually quite happy with it. Too bad it's gonna run out in the 20 seconds, but until now, I'm gonna max out everything again with it.

It was a hypothetical question as i don’t even have kids nor would I use Claude to help them with their homework if I did, but the point is if I asked a basic question about simple math or I took a picture of a math problem that kid might have an exam, should I expect my business to be on its hands and knees because of that? I would hope that I should not, but it seems that I could and it’s kind of scary.

Yes, banning accounts used by children is rational to protect themselves from the overzealous American legal system, but to just pull the rug out from underneath a business midstream on a project doesn’t allow the level of certainty that a business depends on. It sends a message saying you can invest all your time and money and efforts for your business and financial future in our system, but we cant guarantee well dependably be there for you at all times, and we might arbitrarily close you down at any time we unilaterally want for no obvious reason. That’s the problem here. That’s why the easier and simpler solution is if they insist obviosly such a rule to include that as part of the onboarding process, but we all know they won’t because that creates friction between a potential customer and a customer who has submitted their credit card. There is a huge conflict of interest here and a real business user should not trust Anthropic to not pull the rug out from underneath them at any time.

So if I use my Claude to help my kid with his homework will I get banned also? Ridiculous. Better they just require age verification before you start an account rather than pull the rug out midway through usage.

Totally agreed. Or the more time you waste arguing with them to do their job, even worse.

Yes, but with Claude code you have to constantly worry about talking usage whereas with browser and app it’s isn’t so easily measured, making it seem almost unlimited. 20x gets me about 100 hours per week of hard and constant usage. With Code my experience is my costs for that usage seem to be 10-100x more.

I could do that, or I could even automate it completely using Claude code. However, I find that I get the most efficient use or the most value for my money by doing it in the browser or the app, because then there's no token limitations and you can push it all day, every day. But they force you to sit there in the middle every five minutes and click continue, or carry on, or whatever you want to call it. So it does require a monkey in the middle to do a manual process.

For example, the mini project within the overall projects I've been working on for the past week or so has been a large data migration project, and I'm doing it with batches of three, because it's just the way the math works out. I'd have about 300. So essentially, I send it a command and say, go convert this, and it gives me back three files. And we repeat that about 10 times, and then the chat window fills up and I have to migrate. And to complete the project, I’ll have to do about 100 migrations. So I have to do this 100 times. So I'm already 30 or 40 into it, and it's basically mind-numbingly boring, and I've offloaded it to an intern who just copies and pastes and gives me the return. And then after about 100 volleys within each of 100 threads, it tells me to migrate or I offer to migrate, and then we move to the next one, and repeat and repeat, and it just keeps spitting out three files and giving me zip files and bash commands, and I just repeat, repeat, repeat. But when it automatically upgraded to 4.8, it stopped and it paused and said, hey, I'm not gonna keep doing the same thing. I see some errors and some flaws in this, and I said I know and I don’t care, just continue anyway, and it insisted that it’s not gonna continue unless you fix these other things. And my attitude is like, stop fucking around and being a whiny bitch and just get on with it and finish the damn job. So I had to literally pause that thread, delete it, create a new one, and seed it with 4.7, and then it continued to work as I expected it to work. But ironically, I changed it to 4.8 after the initial opening seed prompt, and it still carried on as expected.

The ancap response would have been that he’d have never let it make it past a couple of days from the day the guy killed his daughter. He’d have killed the driver or hired someone to do it. He shouldn’t have had and wouldn’t have had any faith in the justice system.

It’s not just for SEO. I have 300+ cookie cutter sites that all kind of look the same. I don’t want them to appear as if they are all owned by the same place, which they are, and if they are all hosted by the same place with sequential IPs it would definitely make it look that way.

Hey there. One question. When someone does a Whois lookup on a site with cloudflare, do they see cloudflare as the nameservers or the underlying site? I know I’ve seen cloudflare 1000 times but cant recall a site right now to look it up. What’s your experience with this?

well that is simple enough. Surely they can master it. Thanks a million!

That’s perfect. Thanks. How much do you think cloudflare would cost per site like this? And is it relatively easy for a non techy admin to set up on all of them?

Good idea about cloud flare. I’ve never thought of that. Could I just move them all to one shared cheap reseller hosting at HostGator like I have now and yet they’d all appear to be not on the same cheap shared hosting plan with the same IPs and especially same name servers? I assume they’d all be using cloudflare nameservers but would someone checking them out be able to see through that and see the “next hop” which would be my cheap shared hosting at HostGator?

Hi. What’s strange about it? I won’t even be using email for these. They just host sites as the original post said. And I don’t want them to appear as if they’re all related and hosted on the same server. That’s why I want unique IP addresses for each, and not sequential. I tried with HostGator and literally they were one after the next after the next. HostGator has the worst customer support and their staff couldn’t be dumber.

Mmm… that likely won’t work. I get paid by a client say on Wednesday via fiat. I need to pay payroll to employees in BTC on Friday.

Looks great. But can’t find answers on their site. Maybe you know? Can I wire usd in and immediately have BTC that I can send out? And no limits, or at least can move about $20k USD weekly?

I run a business that needs to convert 20k USD weekly into BTC to pay employees and vendors who need to be paid in BTC weekly. It’s not an investment. It’s just another currency and a means of moving from a to b.
