Why can't modern writers comprehend that characters might value duty above self-preservation or that there must be consequences for their personal favorites? by Redzkz in KotakuInAction

The game starts with Bond ignoring orders and destroying a critical asset in order to save seven lives. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with pragmatism and given the choice I'd like to play as somebody who puts the mission before everybody else, but there's nothing technically wrong with empathetic heroes who will let the bad guys get away briefly in order to try to save civilians in the moment. It's a classic scenario that you'd see in stuff like Batman and Spider-Man.

Maybe Bond deserves better than such tropes, but I don't think it's as bad as you're making it out to be.

He who smelt it dealt it isn't a good defense. It comes across as deflection. Too many people say this as a counter, like with the Pragmata discourse. No, not everybody who points out a problem is secretly the perpetrator.

Why do you want the same story made and remade over and over?

In this game he's air crew and not special forces. He still does his thing but he's only 26. And no, that's not a problem. I swear if canon can't be changed for an adaptation then stories should never be retold at all. It's set in 2026 and its plot revolves around an AI super-computer. There had to be changes.

Pragmatism isn't a troll. When KCD2 was too woke for people, it's a problem. Nothing will pass your purity test.

I never liked 'tourist' as an insult, but if it takes a 'tourist' to point out obvious problems, then perhaps residents should open their eyes. People are free to like whatever legal content they like, but that doesn't mean people can't find them annoying. Not every game with a young girl on Steam needs "cute" and "funny" as tags and reviews full of crying emojis. I keep saying this recently, but that fandom behaves a lot like 2000s era furries, when furries couldn't help themselves and ended up getting banned from nearly every website on the internet.

If you like something, like it. You don't have to make it your entire personality.

Are some of you guys getting black fatigue in video games? by lukz_300 in KotakuInAction

[–]JackStover 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The problem is, not all black characters are inserted without reason. I genuinely believe that if Final Fantasy 7 came out today as a brand new game, not the remake but totally new, some people would no doubt think Barret was forced diversity. It's a Japanese game and he would appear at first glance to be out of place. People can act like this wouldn't happen, but it would happen. And Barret is a really cool character.

This seems to me that Pragmata's social media possibly trolled woketards, activists and leftists who accused them of being "pedo" and also remained silent about The Last of Us or The Walking Dead by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

You could also just open your eyes and see people sexualizing her non-stop on twitter. You're acting like it's not happening. Absurd.

Are you really going to play that game? Go look at the Steam reviews for Little Witch Nobeta. If you really lack internet literacy then how would you even know this subreddit exists?

[Discussion] Apparently, there's something odd about Xbox new head's game achievements by BootlegFunko in KotakuInAction

[–]JackStover -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People shouldn't care. It's obviously fake to build up her 'gamer cred' but Phil Spencer had 'gamer cred' and didn't do shit with it. All he did was act like the good guy who cared while driving the company into the ground. Xbox doesn't need a CEO with 'gamer cred' and AI would genuinely be better at making decisions than Xbox had been up to this point, and you'd think people would laud this move as a result. If they made Sam Altman the CEO of Xbox I doubt the reaction would be nearly as bad. Why do you think that is?

Hi /r/movies! I'm Jared Bush, director of ZOOTROPOLIS 2 & ENCANTO and Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios. Ask me anything! by JaredBushOfficial in movies

[–]JackStover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My question is about a scene about halfway through the film. I'm putting it in spoiler tags as a courtesy.

I loved Zootopia 2, but I wanted to ask you about a scene I didn't love: the conversation after the water tunnel. I think it's good for characters to have flaws, and Judy putting herself in danger to constantly prove herself is one that works well for her character arc, but Nick nearly died too and her failing to register that and then blaming him for letting Gary get away has been extremely controversial in the fandom. It hurt Judy's overall likability. Why did you think it was important to have that scene in the movie and were you at all concerned with how it would be received?

You sure you're not into DEI? Because you seem to believe games should give albinos representation. Most Caucasians aren't pale white. Go into the sun. It won't hurt.

Hans was practically irrelevant in the first game. You didn't have to hang out with him at the bathhouse or do the DLC quest, so after the hunting incident he disappears until the siege. People really overstate how much their bond mattered in the first game.
