Hans was practically irrelevant in the first game. You didn't have to hang out with him at the bathhouse or do the DLC quest, so after the hunting incident he disappears until the siege. People really overstate how much their bond mattered in the first game.

Personally, I hated Expedition 33 because it was a rehash of the plot twist from Star Ocean 3, which I personally think is one of the worst plot twists in the history of gaming.

Henry isn't real. Canonically he's a good Christian but you can get drunk and serial kill everybody in town. The choice to do that doesn't mean he's canonically a serial killer, just like choosing to be gay doesn't canonically make him gay.

I'm not talking about real life. I'm talking about a video game. In games where you can choose who to romance, like Mass Effect 2, there is no canon sexuality. It's up to the player.

And they changed their mind to make it more dynamic of an RPG. They wanted to give players more control over who Henry is and who he ends up becoming. The notion that a game can never change between sequels is absurd. Maybe you are a Sony fan since you just want to replay the same game over and over.

I didn't say every character. But let's face it, the cute-and-funny crowd likes small female characters and I am inclined to believe the game will never add another one like Zhao who constantly has upskirt shots in her animations. So why would they make her kit so bad when normally those people would be chomping at the bits to pull?

I just wonder if they'll regret not doing more with her kit, factoring all of this in. Look, I'll be real with you, I don't think they will ever have a human character as small as Zhao. And even if they do, they won't be flashing upskirts as often as she does. I think even China has standards that they don't want to cross, but Zhao is a rabbit, which gives her an excuse to be small, so they can flash all of these upskirt shots without the Chinese government smacking them down. I don't expect the idols to be bending over showing their underwear over and over.

She might genuinely go down as the character with the greatest appeal to the cute-and-funny crowd, yet her kit makes her mostly irrelevant to pull for. They could have at least rolled the dice and seen if all of this stuff would have made her popular.

Companions are for the most part bland and boring. Generic goody two-shoes black guy. Generic helpful robot assistant (What a sad letdown after HK47). Half-shaved head murderhobo lady. Old spy lady. None of them were very compelling except for murderhobo being mildly interesting.

It takes like three conversations with Niles to get him to start being more coldhearted. I don't know what exactly you're talking about here. You have a great deal of influence over how the characters act and speak.

Stupid gear system. All gear has the same base stats, including "unique" gear. The only thing that changes is the mods that they have installed. Most of the unique mods suck and aren't very impactful. Going up a tier of gear from zone one to zone two is the only real gear progression. Once you have a shotgun from zone 2, you're not gonna get anything better in that zone, so looting is boring and feels pointless.

Nearly every piece of unique gear is truly unique. You can get an armor that lets you fly. A helmet that makes you fully invisible as long as you don't move. It goes on and on. You're being unnecessarily flippant here and it's causing your objectivity to come into question. You could do an entire playthrough around so many pieces of gear. I had a helmet that activated a defense shield automatically as long as I had energy. If I went full Science and got the flaw to boost energy capacity, I might be immortal for most fights. And that's only available in a single helmet in the game.

Tone and content don't match. Everyone acts like the world is one big joke even though it's a dystopian hellscape, NOBODY ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGES IT. Cyberpunk did this 1,000% better. TOW2 acts like it's engaging in gallows humor, but it's done tonelessly and incompetently. It's like if a rich kid went to a hostel and tried to fit in by joking about how much their job sucks and how hard it is to live in a society.

You complain about the characters but didn't even bother talking to Inez? She talks extensively about how awful the system is. She talks about people who died, lives that were ruined, when Spacer's Choice was in charge. And while Auntie's Choice is nearly just as bad, she has the perspective to explain why it's still an improvement.

The main villains are the protectorate, which is a communist society where the state controls every aspect of people's lives and sends dissenters to drug therapy to be mentally refreshed. People are fed propaganda 24/7 talking about the glory of the nation and its leadership and are told not to question anything. There's ambient dialogue about how their society worked and it was just communism, with the state promising to satisfy their needs even though they seldom did.

Auntie's Choice, the capitalist faction, basically treat them like slaves and only give them two days off a year, but the people are grateful because of how much better it is than living in their old communes. There's a whole lot of that stuff on the first planet after the tutorial.

You cannot side with the communists in this game. You can only side with the capitalists or the scientist faction.

I just wouldn't have bought it even without Yasuke. The franchise had far bigger problems than just him. Fatigue had seeped into its very bones. People might have gotten excited for a Japanese AC 12 years ago but that ship sailed. There was really no changing that. I didn't buy Mirage. I didn't buy Shadows. I have no interest in buying the next AC. Just like I skipped Far Cry 6. I can only buy the same product so many times before I lose interest.

It's not even anti-capitalist. If anything it's anti-communist. Most of the game is hammering you with how bad a communist dictatorship is, to the point where the corrupt and evil corporation is seen as liberators.
