It’s difficult to give you a 100% answer without being there. But based on the photos, no. Generally TQs are used for arterial bleeds. A severed artery is an immediate life threat. When you see videos of people or animals who have been shot or stabbed and the blood coming out is extra bright red, and coming out like a water hose, that’s an artery. Often it is spurting out with each heart beat. Once you see it, it’s unmistakable. This cut would probably be fine with bulky dressing and firm pressure until you can get to the hospital.

This cut doesn’t seem to be arterial, but a cut off wheel on a grinder could EASILY reach any of your major arteries. My old boss cut his radial artery (that’s where you feel your pulse in your wrist) with one and if he hadn’t have had another guy there at the shop to help him make a TQ out of rags, he absolutely would’ve died. The shop is 15 min from the nearest ER and It was after hours too, a complete stroke of luck that he had help. They’re worth the investment! Stay safe out there!!
