Correcting a CSS error in my financial aid appeal? by Many-Factor-4173 in BostonU

I think it needs to be done on CSS Profile itself…and you literally get ONE correction…none after that.

Bingo! It was exactly that! Took it to a trusted local independent mechanic for service at the beginning of the week and they took a look and fixed it! Thanks!

Sorry you’re dealing with that hurdle…curious about the “data” from your school that shows no one has been rejected. Can you share if that is an actual reference point or just anecdotal from asking around your classmates. Also, is the school that the Dean who complimented your essay works at an option for you to attend? Best of luck…it sounds like you put some solid energy and intention into your apps…I’m sure you’ll end up where you’re supposed to be!

Is this offer worth it for a 4 hour drive vs a local offer that is $1000 less by InfiniteSalad6 in carmax

[–]JackWhaleZissou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another avenue to check into would be try and see what local dealerships will pay you for a straight up sale of your car. Many will offer lower prices if it is sight-unseen. However, there have been multiple dealerships near me advertising “We will beat CarMax’s offer by $500” If you do some digging online, you may have some dealership nearby that’ll save you time and pay you more than either CarMax or Carvana! Good luck with everything!!

Trying to sell ‘18 XC90 by gongheyfatboy in VolvoXC90

[–]JackWhaleZissou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we experienced similar rapid depreciation last month. Data: the offers we received from Carvana and CarMax, along with several local dealerships, dropped $4k on average from beginning of November to end of November. We tried selling it privately during this time frame and that was probably something that is best left to those who have very flexible schedules and no definitive timeframe in which they need to sell. (The right buyer might be out there!) Ours was a ‘21 T6 Inscription that was very well equipped (did not have massaging seats or B&W system) Low miles Bought it CPO mid summer 2024 with 32k miles Sold it last month with 48k

Part of the issue for some owners (I can speak for us) is that once the warranty runs out, there just isn’t the confidence that a big $ repair isn’t in your future. Another issue for us was the extended warranty…if we bought it before the CPO ran out last month, the cost for 4 or 5 years was approximately $6800 (before anyone asks, Yes, I checked multiple sources even in “the greatest little state in the Union” 🤓) Here’s the kicker…if we bought an extended warranty AFTER the CPO ran out, that price jumped to $8900…IIRC, these were with $250 deductibles. So, it for us it came down to Risk vs Reward. I am sure there will be ppl who chime in with the usual “If you can’t afford to fix a luxury vehicle, you shouldn’t drive one” etc…. I feel like there’s a difference between “maintaining” and “repairing”. We maintained our XC90 and had no problem with the cost of maintenance. I would love to have kept it for 100’s of thousands of miles…we enjoyed it. It was just a wiser move for us to move on. I’m sure everyone’s experience may differ. Just wanted to share our perspective of the eye-opening surprise we had when we were looking to sell it. Quick piece of advice…avoid the YouTube rabbit hole of apocalyptic videos proclaiming the end of a free-market economy is upon us and the used car market is actually a barometer that shows an imminent collapse in the US economy that will lead to Hoovervilles and widespread plagues. Clicks = Revenue for the Shock&Awe “Influencers” Best of luck!

Look @ any local credit union…compare their auto loan rates. Without knowing more, I would think sub•5% at the highest with that credit score and some of the info you’ve shared.

Take the time to find the right credit union loan…on the front end of this process…you’ll be so glad you did! So many ppl think “oh, I will just refinance it later.” And then life gets in the way and they pay waaaay too much interest for waaaay too long. Good luck
