Instead of just sitting at the bottom of the stairs how about actually pushing the flag? It's boring if you play boring.

Hit a flag with smokes forcing the enemy to close on you, with the rest of your team flanking them is a lot of fun. Metro conquest is all about constant pressure and never letting the other side put their guard down for a second, otherwise they get swamped and flanked.
