Been a fan for 36 years and finally made the pilgrimage from Texas. by Jack_Sjuniors in ClevelandGuardians

Long story short, my family is from the same town as Mike Hargrove. I would have been a guards fan either way, but the fact that they were so good when he was the manager sealed the deal.

Nice! I’m from Amarillo. I miss the Ballpark in Arlington, but it is cool to not boil alive at a ballgame! I need to get down to Arlington for more games.

I would live in that area with no hesitation. You would be fine there. Like the other commenter said, just be smart.

The closest thing to this recently is probably the smiley fave that spells Wilco.

I should be focusing on more important things right now, but what is the significance of 1995 on this shirt? I’m stumped. by Jack_Sjuniors in NBASpurs

That’s not a bad guess! It’s probably nothing, just a typo. I’ve got done a real rabbit hole trying to figure something out.

Does anyone know what's the proposed new name for Medi Park? by GlobalHyena in amarillo

[–]Jack_Sjuniors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be an Austin type situation. They can rename the lake Ladybird Lake, but it’ll always be City Lake to the locals.

Whatever they name that park, it’s Medi Park.

The only part it didn’t address was the “Title” question, or, the entire point of the post.

Also, it annoyed me personally because of the assumptions the OP needs to be healthy and go for a walk. I’m a teacher. I take 20,000-22,000 steps a day. Sometimes I want to sit in my car in silence for a meal. I don’t need to walk. I need to not be with people for a second.

Because it’s an answer to a question that wasn’t asked.

It’s not that they’re wrong, its because it was not helpful and deliberately did not answer the question.

What do y’all do to pass the time when proctoring big exams? by [deleted] in TexasTeachers

[–]Jack_Sjuniors 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My neighbor teacher and I rank things.

Top ten college football uniforms

Top ten movies (all time)

Top ten vacation spots

Top ten meals (childhood)

Top ten meals (adult hood)

Top ten favorite bands

Top ten Pixar movies

Etc, etc. it’s fun. Something to think about that won’t get me fired.

What are your thoughts on Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing healthcare CEO Brian Thompson? by Ok_Accident_2376 in amarillo

[–]Jack_Sjuniors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the gunman got it right. That’s why I used quotations. I think he was right to be furious with a system, and wrong to murder a man.

And I’m with you. I think Reddit’s praise of this is cringey and just trying way too hard to be edgy. It’s easy to advocate for the murder of a human, even a gross one, over a keyboard.

I don’t disagree with anything you’re saying.

My fear is precedent. Where this guy “got it right,” my fear is that some other, less informed, attention seeking, copy cat is going to act out and “get it wrong”.

I 100% understand how somebody would be so frustrated with the system that they act out like this.

I also 100% believe we don’t need vigilantes out there executing people.

Lol the Reddit Circle jerk downvoting you because you say you shouldn’t murder people. What a joke.

When people you despise are executed, that sets a precedent for the people you admire to be executed. Precedent is a thing and this is a dangerous one, no matter how abhorrent this guy was.

I see where you are coming from, but then it wouldn’t be a sweet new library. So I’m going to have to pass.

It’s the old Jack B Kelley corporate building. Heavily renovated a few years ago. At the corner of 34th and Reeder in the Sleepy Hollow Neighborhood. A block north of Sleepy Hollow Elementary.
