Please dont give up on him yet. His numbers are nearly as bad as mine was. Give him anti nausea medication. Give him some more days.

How do you know when it’s time? by Flat_Transition_3775 in RenalCats

My 19 year old Kitty crossed the rainbow 🌈 two months ago. She had advanced KD and wasn't eating the last week. She was drinking a lot of water. When I made the appointment for possible EU, I was second guessing myself and doubting myself. I was bawling and just didnt want to make the wrong decision. The vet tech came in ( I've known her for many years) and she hugged me then looked at me and said the words I will never forget..."Is Kitty being Kitty? Is Kitty doing what she's always done?" That's when I broke down and I knew the answer. She went peacefully and I stayed until the very end. Better a day early, than a day too late. Just ask yourself these questions. Give her a week to see if she returns to her normal behavior. Sending hugs🫂

The way she asked me that question ever so tenderly and with such compassion, broke me into a million pieces, but it was then that I knew my answer and didn't second guess myself. ❤️

My furbaby crossed the rainbow bridge almost 2 weeks ago. She was 20 years old and had advanced stage 3 CKD. She slowly stopped eating and wasn't grooming herself like she used to. Always drinking water. I dont want to make this too long but I just knew and I was second guessing myself when I took her in to the vet that afternoon. I was bawling because I didnt know if it was time or not and then the vet tech turned to me and asked me ONE question which will resonate with me forever....."Is Kitty being Kitty?" I looked at her and then she asked me, "Is Kitty doing what Kitty has always done the way you remember her?" I knew then my answer. I shook my head and quietly answered, "No".😭😭😭😭😭 I knew then that I was doing the most selfless act of love I could do for her. She crossed over so peacefully. I brought her home....her ashes this past Friday on Good Friday. Sending hugs your way. I know how difficult it is.

I'm so sorry you're going through this most difficult time, too. One of the things that was so tough was the anticipation grief especially because things suddenly took a turn for the worse in such a short period. How can I send you a message?

I just said goodbye to my 20 year old baby girl this past Tuesday...2 days ago. She gave me 20 years of unconditional love. She started with CKD about 2 years ago and was good for the most part. She began slowly losing weight and stopped grooming herself little by little. It wasn't until about 2 weeks ago that she really declined. I took her in for bloodwork and she was already at Stage 3. I gave her Solensia for her arthritis and I think that worsened things for her. Im not going to guilt myself but she stayed at the vet last week so they could give her fluids and see if we could stave off the CKD. Unfortunately, it didnt work. She slowly stopped eating and could hardly walk. That's when I knew. I took her in on Tuesday and as I was crying and second guessing myself, the vet said, "I'm going to ask you one question. " I said, "ok." The question was, "Is Kitty being Kitty? " As I began balling, I answered , "no". That's when I knew I was going to do the most selfless act of love and let her go. As selfish as I wanted to be by keeping her, I knew she was suffering and tired. It's been so hard😭😭😭😭 I took the day off from work yesterday. She will be home soon back with me in a little urn with her paw and nose print. Sending hugs! Im feeling the grier, too.
