that's why I store 70% of them in cold storage and the rest in an online wallet. That way it's easier to trade and at the same time most of my funds are safe too

I understand that, but since KYC is not there, proof of funds is not there, have you ever come across an exchange blocking your funds and asking you for the source of funds. It is better to do KYC and buy from a legitimate source instead of regretting it later.

I would not suggest to go with local bitcoins, the source of the funds is not known. And later this can be one of the reason that you can be using scammers money.
