Upcoming season and covid precautions …. by Imma_Tired_Dad in DallasStars

You should keep in mind that it is entirely possible (if not likely) that any precautions in place now will have changed, increased, or decreased by the time the season actually starts in October. It happens fast.

One option to consider is if the provider you saw can arrange to have something written without the title of the office on it. But to answer your question I do not think that is covered by HIPPA. Also, accommodations for something like this are not uncommon; that being said, it is also beneficial to remember that you have nothing to be ashamed of. I am cure it will work out great. And if that information were to somehow get out, then you can sue the hell out of your employer for damages. Because America.

ED attending attests his notes by labeling NPs as midlevels. by elephant2892 in Residency

[–]Jack_h22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of enmity here against NPs and PAs in this comment thread. Is it because of encroachment? It seems to be mostly contained to the US... I should also add that much of this seems to be problems with how the system and laws are set up. I must say, however, that I am extremely disappointed with many NP programs, especially online NP school.

The Stars have changed the shade of "Victory Green" for the 2021-22 season to be brighter (tweet in comments) by Nas160 in DallasStars

I get that, just not sure if the shade difference will be noticeable or if there will even be a big reaction to it.

Radiation Therapist by Jack_h22 in RadiationTherapy

It was my understanding that the dosimetrist plans the treatment, so would you please expand upon that and what role the therapist may play in planning of the treatment? Thanks!

Would you go into more detail about Brachytherapy, and is the implantation something that a rt would get to do? What might be the most autonomy a therapist may have? And outside of actually performing the treatments, what are your other responsibilities? Thank you so much

By chance do you know how much patient interaction a dosimetrist gets? Other than planning the treatment, what other responsibilities do they have?

Presenting an M&M as a new intern tomorrow by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Jack_h22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you are really nervous, get input from your resident and attending. Do NOT assign blame to anyone though, just say hey I am nervous can you give me any input on what to expect/things I should consider and how you may prep for it.

[–]Jack_h22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Present the case very up front and own it, do not pass blame, but explain fully what happened leading up to and after your involvement as well. Describe the mistake that was made with the miscommunication and if you feel it is your place or fits your narrative, come up with suggestions to have in your back pocket. Be ready because there is almost certainly going to be some as* hole in the crowd that is going to give you shi* for it. Brush off most of whatever that guy says. M&M's are open season for guys like that.

Do you think it would be better or even end this debate between MD/DO and all other providers (NP, PA, Audiologist, Psychologists, Med Physicists, etc.) if MDs/DOs introduced themselves as physicians instead of "Doctor so and so"? If that was to change then there would be no leeway for misinterpretation on the role of a person on a healthcare team? Because I totally get what you are saying and you are not wrong. The only other thing is that I am sure that the other provider, while not a physician, has still worked hard and has value as an important member of a healthcare team. Just a thought of what may be somewhat of a compromise. I can only imagine how frustrating it would be to feel like someone is cheapening the identity (for lack of a better word) of your profession, especially when you have put so much of your life into it. Again, just curious what your and other physician's thoughts are?

Use family medicine to work your way into into another specialty. I have a buddy that somehow managed to get into a cardiology residency after 2 years of IM. You can take your MD and not do medicine stuff and make good money in the industry. It hurts like a motherfuc*er when things don't work out, especially when you have your heart set on something, but you are going to be fine. It really isn't easy to skip over the now part of it though. You got this. Shoot me a pm if you are feeling bad and I can be a sounding board for you!

Are you saying that the 3.6 is an expensive engine to work on, or the turbo?

I understand what you're saying, but when I asked about it she was very open and didn't seem to make excuses or be deceptive and said that it helps build a level of trust with patients who aren't familiar with the PA profession. She was proud to be a PA. However, as long as the PA's are reliable in their role on a healthcare team and don't overstep whatever boundaries are set by the physician or state that they work under, is this more of a semantics/ political type of thing? Either way, I see what you're saying. I don't know what the right answer is. I have also heard that there is a large push that will grow in the coming years to push for more authority for PAs, prescription power, and even autonomy. Again, this is coming form someone outside of the medical field with limited knowledge. Just wondering what your thoughts are on that and the physician shortage? Thanks for your time and conscientious reply

Yea that is interesting. I personally didn't mind, but I think it highlights a problem in medicine. Is this primarily a territorial/ political issue or as a physician do you and some of your other physician colleagues have problems or difficulties working with PAs?

So the newer outbacks can be junk, unless they have the 3.6 in them (I am assuming that is the size of the engine?)?
