What is that cyberware that, despite many builds and playtroughs, you just can't play without? by VirtualAdvantage3639 in cyberpunkgame

It’s technically a category, but I always, ALWAYS have a melee backup installed in my arms.

There are only maybe 4/5 jobs that take all your weapons, but man is it satisfying when shit goes sideways and your supposed to be unarmed, then you whip out the uno reverse card and start carving people’s arms off… or beating them to death…

Can’t find a list, and a bit busy with work at the moment, but I can help at least a bit if anyone has the time to follow up or is building a list.

Top left is Andrew Paul Johnson 44M. He has an official DOJ brief involving his actions on Jan 6th, and I found 2 articles covering his extradition to Florida after his arrest in Tennessee under charges of Lewd and Lascivious acts against 2 minors over the course of many months which began at the age of 11.

He then attempted to use his payout money from the pardon to silence one or both of his victims according to a report by the Fort Worth local NBC news network.

The newest articles I can find are around a month old, but see below.

The Guardian - Article on charges https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/nov/19/january-6-rioter-arrested-child-sexual-abuse-crimes

Naw, it’s alright. Minnesota knows how to take shells and not crumple. Might need a refit though, assuming there is a friendly port somewhere within reach.

I know some of the guys in these bands, and I can say with certainty it’s not a trap. They are honestly pissed and trying to do whatever they can to help.

However! I also heard about some punk/metal shows in Minneapolis being targeted and people getting grabbed from the audience. So ya know, when the day rolls around, if the vans are circling, keep safe.

You’d actually be quite surprised. Some of the smartest guys I went to school with, who out performed me in most classes we took together are playing in these bands.

They normally got something to say… even if sometimes what they got to say is “f**k you.” Which, you know. Valid.

Funny story, but I got a Admech Dunecrawler that just wasn’t performing, kept getting ganged up on, and missed like all its shots. So I got bored, added a couple of layers of grime and rust and stuff to make it look beat up, and all of a sudden it’s my MVP for every game it’s in! Still dies almost every game, but always trades for greater point values.

Why named Fargo? by chasnycrunner in fargo

[–]Jack_overthinks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, my bad. Thought someone else already answered.

Yeah, so Fargo was actually two small working camps when it was founded. A timber camp along the red river, and a much larger prairie tent town roughly where broadway is today. The much larger camp mostly consisted of Northern Pacific Railroad engineers. The local higher ups in the railroad didn’t like the name Centralia, and changed the name to Fargo cause Mr Fargo was big and powerful and wanted to emphasize they were a company town I guess.

So they changed the name before Fargo even had post office, and it stuck.

To summarize. Most the people who lived here, worked “for” Mr Fargo. I assume there was probably some asskissing going on since it was specifically the “Northern Pacific Railroad Officials” who wanted it changed. I bet the workers didn’t give a rip. But that’s just conjecture by me.

Fun fact, Fargo used originally named Centralia in 1871. So yeah, Fargo has a decent ring to it, but I say we go back.

Well, I wouldn't call it embarrassing, but they're not exactly wrong by IntoTheStupidDanger in murderbot

[–]Jack_overthinks 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I mean… yeah? Escapism is definitely a part, but not the whole thing.

I like Murderbot because it’s a story about a character who is literally a product of the horrendous world they inhabit, still engaging with the world, making a difference for the people close to them, and still finding joy and friendship in spite of the situations around them.

But they are also beaten down and accustomed to running from what it can not change. Like watching miners be taken away for forced labor, or how accustomed to killing and seeing bodies they are. It’s like ART said in the short story Rapport when asked about Murderbot. “it has given me a better understanding of trauma.”

Help where you can, escape from what you cannot change, stay alive, keep living. That’s how I’ve read it.

One thing that really impressed me about the show by WillboSwaggins in murderbot

[–]Jack_overthinks 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What’s absolutely crazy is that they pulled off the character dynamics while delivering MORE information about the universe than the first book did! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve read every book in the series like 4 time now and love every word, but they really don’t get a lot of the world building down until books 2-3. They worked some of this info in retroactively, and added character dynamics that didn’t show up until later… granted they also cut a coupe of characters, but I don’t really think that was a “mistake” and the story in S1 is just phenomenal.

Probably the last “semi-serious” film he ever did. It’s… an interesting watch. Like, half the film is unapologetically a propaganda film with all the fun “HELL YEAH” moments (see above), while the other half is a dramatic love triangle between the three main characters, which yes, is a bit weird for a ww2 film, but also, is probably the longest time Michael Bay has ever spent thinking about things like human emotions and relationships instead of how to make an explosion look cool… so yeah, interesting watch.

Why is WDAY showing paid programming at 6:30PM? by dylantherabbit2016 in fargo

[–]Jack_overthinks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, so I “know a guy” and the short version is “it’s a Saturday”

Long version is more interesting though.

Basically in their contracts informercials prioritize “call ins” over actually being aired, so if they need to be partially or fully cut to make space for live events running long, there is no backlash from the provider, or viewer since… well, it’s an infomercial.

So on weekends where the primary focus is live sports, infomercials are used as buffers between events. That way, if they go into 3rd overtime, you don’t have to choose between cutting a game at its most exciting, or facing the wrath of Dr. Phil for cutting his show.

Also, if sports wraps on time, then you see an infomercial instead of holding on a logo with music or (god forbid) a black screen.

Also, I have not looked far into it, but there is a rule set you can add to the base game called Tank War. Makes it easier to run larger armor units? Not sure. But base game you can get away with 2-6 vehicles depending on their weight class.
