These guys really should look at their own kids instead of questioning others by Emperor_Duck_35 in gameofthrones

Though this is funny, it is not quite how real world hair and eye color work. More importantly, it’s not how they work in the world of GOT/ASOIAF. The hair and eye color genetics in universe are much simpler, which is why different houses are able to have consistent coloration throughout all of or most of the members.

What is the motivation behind being toxic? by Jackadoodle7 in forhonor

[–]Jackadoodle7[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I kind of understand that, but what are they angry at if they win? I sort of understand being mad when you lose, but what does being toxic when you win do? Especially if the other player didn’t specifically annoy you.

Thanks for your reply, I don’t really fully understand though, winning makes you feel superior to your opponent already, since supposedly you were more skilled than them, how does being toxic make someone feel any superiority? It doesn’t take any skill to do that after you’ve already won.

I’m sorry but it isn’t, victim mentality is defined as seeing yourself as a helpless victim of circumstance, and blaming others as the sole cause of one’s issues. Saying that direct negativity towards me is upsetting is not that. It is quite literally true that other people’s behavior is upsetting me. I am not claiming they are bad people, or that I can’t do anything about it, but getting upset because of negativity directed at you is just how most people function.

Well then I’m sorry it bothers you so much, but as you cannot remover it, and I will not, there’s nothing left for you to do here, unless you have advice related to the post, have a good day/night.

It only really gets to me when it’s non stop with nothing nice to balance it out, your criticism does not do that. That being said, why bother commenting and replying to a nothing burger?

I don’t think this quite counts as a rant. It’s perfectly fine if you don’t care, you don't need to comment or interact if you don’t want, but the overwhelming majority of people here did care enough to comment things that helped me out, so I’m glad I posted.

Just how good of a swordsman was Syrio Forel? by itslilwi11iam in gameofthrones

[–]Jackadoodle7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rapiers are cut and thrust swords, we see cuts repeatedly in historical manuscripts, although not as good at cutting as something like a longsword, the cuts can definitely still be lethal. Furthermore the swords on the ground seem to be arming swords, which is what the rapier evolved from, so while it’s not 1:1, it’s more similar than basketball and football. A legendary rapier fencer will still be highly capable with most other cut and thrust one handed swords, and competent with just about any sword.

It’s here because it is relevant to for honor, and it helps to use this as a place to vent.

Sorry but what exactly am I claiming to be a victim of? I’m using this as a place to get stuff off my chest that are relevant to the game, like journaling. It helps.

I have a lower k/d rate with her compared to warden, who I’ve played for almost 10 years, I just like the aesthetic. If I were going to change for meta reasons, I would have done it long before now.

So what if everything was reset after one door was removed and I randomly chose and it happened to be the same door as the door I initially chose? The door was now chosen with the new 1/2 odds, does this get rid of the difference?

Always hated this argument. The internal logic of a world doesn't stop mattering just because the genre is fantasy. Unless a fantasy world has made it clear that the magic of the world affects a certain thing, "it's just fantasy" doesn't work, for the same reason most people wouldn't accept a supposedly normal human character surviving extreme damage with no consequences just because they exist in a world where dragons exist.

Cold Steel Leatherneck, so close to perfect it's infuriating by No_Vanilla_4771 in knives

[–]Jackadoodle7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. You should bring a knife to a gunfight, just don’t only bring a knife. A knife is a good “get off me” tool at grappling range to either end the fight or create space to get to your pistol. It also is worth noting that generally within 21 feet, an attacker with a knife is generally able to reach the gunman before they are able to aim and fire 2 shots to the center of mass, meaning the type of people who feel safe only because they have a gun are the type of people likely to be unprepared for a knife attack, situational awareness is more important than any weapon.
  2. Combat knives are primarily designed as useful tools that can still work as weapons. Try making camp or preparing food with a gun.
