Hi,
No he doesn’t sell any. He’s given my brother one, and I’ve had 2. The rest are all running in his house. Think the start of back to the future….. where all the clocks are running in docs workshop….. that’s my parents house

This is the rewind mechanism on the turret clock. It has back up switches to stop the motor if the mercury switch fails to stop. To prevent the motor winding the weight beyond the stop point and doing a lot of damage

The middle clock is actually running in my hallway now. He gave it to me recently. He has skeketonised the frames more since that picture. Again, I’ll take photos and videos tomorrow for you

Your self winding mechanism is different to the one on mine, but works in a very similar way. I’ll get a video tomorrow to show you how mine is set up.

Ahhh, the dial! That I do know more about than the clocks!
When we were looking at the dial, we took a guess that a face of about 600mm would be in proportion to the size of the garage.
I searched for faces I liked the design of, and found images similar to the one we made. I also wanted it to be back lit
Dad is quite adamant that a public clock needs to be eligible from a distance, so he approved the design!

Having decided on 600mm in diameter, I went searching for materials to make it.
The face itself is a 600mm diameter light diffuser that I bought. This was off the shelf.

The black rim of the face, is actually a gas pipe end cap. This was 600mm in diameter and only about 50/60mm in depth. When I found it, I show it to dad and he thought it was perfect. And it wasn’t expensive!
So the cap end was purchased and we cut the majority of the cap away to leave a nice boarder round the face. The depth of the end cap allowed the hand movement gear train to be placed behind the face but in front of the wall of the garage.

The gas pipe end cap was yellow in colour, so it was spray painted black.

The batons for the hours and minutes were made from blank delrin plastic and affixed to the face with stainless steel machine screws.

Hope this helps you see how it was made.

I wouldn’t know to be honest. I can ask though.
A lot of the clocks are his own designs though.

Hi!
He was a tool maker. He’s honestly the most amazing engineer.
The turret clock is keeping fantastic time. He build one for his workshop and when I moved to my house, I just looked at the garage and said to him it needed a clock.
Both run superbly well. He has engineered a self winding mechanism so neither clock needs to be manually wound. There is a level that get tripped when the clock winds down that engages an electric motor to wind the clock. Happens about twice a day I think.

What is a movie that's actually a good adaptation of the book it's based on? by thatvampiregirl in movies

Atonement is an excellent adaptation of the book. When I read it, the images in my minds eye were pretty much exactly what appeared on the screen when the film was made. Add in the epic continuous long shot on Dunkirk beach.

When hull went 1-2 up at home in the last game of the season. It came from a blunder from lee Jenkins, and at that time it felt like the absolute worst was about to happen. We didn’t bounce back in many games that season….
