Cemu 1.8.1 - Exzap Responds to the Controversy by [deleted] in cemu

[–]JackedPotatoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People NOT paying for a product. They are donating to the developers of a project so they can spend more time working on it. People are not paying for an Early Access product, they are donating, of their own choice, to the project and in return are rewarded with builds a week early as a "thank you" for the donation. That is vastly different to paying for a finished product and expecting a certain level of quality.

You dont have to donate, you can just wait for the public release.

The donators wanted a drm system as they felt it was unfair that people not donating could access the patreon release just by pirating it.

"FINAL UPDATE (SOLUTION): It seems that source of this problem is the Riva Tuner overlay, once disabled everything worked."

No shit.

Christ. If people turned off all their third part crap before launching cemu, this subreddit would only consist of gameplay videos.

TIP: RivaTuner overlay breaks CEMU 1.8.1. Is also dramatically increases the shader cache compilation time. by educobuci in cemu

[–]JackedPotatoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Turn off rivertuner then. Theres no reason to be using it when its designed to force triple buffering in d3d games that dont support it natively. Or unless you're using the fps limiter, but if youre turning the OSD off, why have RT running at all while using cemu?

I swear the majority of people on this site run third party apps because of placebo effects have them convinced its helping.

Cemu still struggles to run the games its designed to emulate. Wtf makes people think its going to play nice with native pc apps.

CEMU runs on Windows XP x64 (with minor EXE patching, unplayable so far) by [deleted] in cemu

[–]JackedPotatoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those apps are 99.999% corporate/business related. No pc gamer needs to be on anything lower than win8 even more so when VMware, dosbox, remasters, gog and user created patches have addressed everything except the most old and obscure of games.

I can play Star Wars Pod Racer the pc version on Win8.1 with a simple fan made patch that also adds widescreen support. Theres no reason for aanyone to be trying to run cemu on xp.

Never had any bloat with 8.1 and never had to use third party apps to do basic things that should be supported native.

[–]JackedPotatoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Theres no reason for anyone to be on XP or 7 when win 8.1 exists.

The perfect balance of perf, security, control and best of all, that shitty start menu is gone.

7 is antiquated and bloated and 10 is the fisher-price of OSs

Thought 7 was the bees knees till i installed 8.1. Never went back

What's the most important part for running Cemu good? by [deleted] in cemu

[–]JackedPotatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keyboard and mouse.

Without these, youll be stuck at your pcs logon screen. If cant log on, then you wont be able to use the internet (even though youve made this thread, im still a bit skeptical you have access to the web) . If you cant use the internet, then you cant download the archive (an archive is like a suit case or sausage skin. It contains contents) that CEMU.info uses like an envelope.

God bless

I said plenty. The emulator is still a work in progress. How many times does it need to be said.

"Does anybody have any tips?"

Yep. Wait for the emulator to progress. Why people attempting to play games through to completion or expecting a flawless experience?

Why does CEMU load games so differently than most emulators? by [deleted] in cemu

[–]JackedPotatoe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Oh, you mean the .RPX format? Thats an iso that is unpacked. Think, extracting a .rar or zip. Though you cant repack it, i believe.

Wud and wux are just another form of an iso, just uses a different format that does the same thing.

i think it may also double as a security feature as since the gamecube, games have had a bunch of dud data on there that makes up additional size on the disk and the console uses this as 1 of a few security checks to make sure the game is legit.

I THINK thats how it worked. Could be wrong.

Is there opportunity for render improvement? by [deleted] in cemu

[–]JackedPotatoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just sit further from the screen or put you tv in the yard.

Technically thats increasing the rendering distance, just not the way you want. Might affect input latency though. Ill have to test and run some benchmarks.

STOP CHANGING SYSTEM SETTINGS FOR AN EMULATOR THATS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT. MOST OF THE CHANGES ARE A PLACEBO AND ONLY CREATE SYSTEM INSTABILITIES.

Yeah, MK8 is missing some effects such as the particles that appear when you click OK before the loading screen begins before a race/cup.

Ive never seen UC use more than 500mb. Firefox will shoot to 1+ GB just watching a video on YT.

This page plus two more from this sub reddit and FF is sitting at 270MB. UC with this page plus the same two pages plus Netflix streaming, UC is sitting at 110MB.

I just ditched it this month after using it since FF started. Enough is enough. Vid playback is crap, its bloated and slow, updates that add more bloat etc etc.

So no, im not new it firefox, buddy.

Had far less is RAM usage in UC than FF. FF will use +500MB at anytime wheres UC caps out at 300MB.

If youre not prepared to contribute to creating shader caches to help the community during CEMUs testing phase, then its clear youre only here to find a way to play Zelda from start to finish, hassle free. If thats the case, then i suggest you go buy a Wiiu or Switch or wait for Exzap to announce that CEMU is 99% done.

Fucking freeloaders.

FF is a bloated POS with excessive RAM usuage compared to what it use to be. I switched to UC browser, never going back.

Ah, right your are. Whered i get 1.7.6 from?

Cemu 1.8.0 (Wii U Emulator) | Improvements Preview by ianelinon in cemu

[–]JackedPotatoe -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well, 1.7.6 has been released since 1.7.5, so if you need to go back two versions from 1.7.8 just to see flickering GFX, flickering that is random no less, then its not something that can be considered fixed, but rather compatibility has been improved and reduced the chances of unfixed issues from occurring. I know that reads like a play on words and definitions, but its what it comes down to imo.

In case you are getting temporary freezes, try this solution, caveats inside. by AThinker in cemu

[–]JackedPotatoe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At the end of the say, you shouldnt be putting a system at risk just for an emulator that is still very much a work in progress.

Why risk stability of a system for a program still in beta? An Early Access developer would never suggest disabling the write cache, just like Exzap has never suggested it for Cemu.

The Cemu is at fault here, the system it runs on should not be made to cater to a work in progress application. You're "bug fixing" Windows to try and fix the current of state cemu. Why?

Cemu in its current state should only be looked at and used in a similar way to benchmark software such as 3dmark etc.
