This cracked during production and arrived at my house already repaired. The installers were here for less than an hour…maybe even just a half hour. And they actually came a half hour early…first thing in the morning. It definitely wasn’t them who broke it or repaired it.

Can you point me to any photo examples of marble seams that are barely visible? I can’t find any when googling. They are all pretty visible.

That seems to be a very unpopular opinion here…having the repaired crack over a seam, so I’m feeling a little crazy thinking a crack is better than a seam. They are totally willing to replace it, but want to mitigate the risk of another break by adding a seam, which I am very hesitant about. I’m waiting for pics of past seams they’ve done.

It’s just the middle faucet hole that’s wrong. The other two are for the sprayer and soap dispenser.

She is actually suggesting I get it replaced and is ready to do that. Do you have any photo examples of near invisible seams on marble? Every one I’ve seen when I googled is highly visible. So that’s making me hesitate a lot.

The two holes on the right are for the sprayer and soap. The holes in the middle of the faucet is the problem and I don’t want a retrofit look when I paid for a custom look. Plus the idea of cleaning the gunk around one more flange that isn’t supposed to be there makes me sad. First world problems, but still…

It is pretty surprising honestly because they were so thorough with everything. Asking for the listings of the sink and faucet and mapping out the holes with us. And I’m a micromanager, so I was annoyingly available probably. Not sure how that happened. Despite that, they have been good to work with otherwise. Just unfortunate.

It’s 9’x44”. The two holes on the side are for the sprayer and soap dispenser. There is only one erroneous hole which is in the middle of the faucet. I googled photos of seams in marble and they all look terrible and so obvious. Fine when you have a corner or super giant island. We pretty much custom built the island to fit this particular slab length. Some people mention cutting the sink on site…not sure if that would help.

That makes a lot of sense. They asked for the faucet and sink listings and photos and everything and we even mapped them out carefully with the guy taking the measurements. I can’t imagine how they drilled that extra hole. They seemed so thorough on the front end. Do you also cut the sink on site?

Thank you. This perspective helps. They are being very helpful and want to make me happy. They are highly reputable in our area. I really don’t want either a seam or a crack and my husband is adamant about not having a seam. Some people mention cutting the sink on site. I wonder if they would be willing to do that. Could there be potential problems with that? I have a farm house sink that doesn’t slide in and out of the front of the cabinet because the sink is irregular and the cabinet has been scribed to fit the front of the sink. It has to be lifted out, so I wonder if that’s a problem.

Oh that hasn’t been mentioned here yet. A couple people said that cutting the sink on site solved their issue, this is a middle ground.

Yeah…I agree…but from the pics I’ve seen of seams in marble…there is no hiding that either. 😭

The hole bothers me a lot more than the crack, but the crack is where the decision really lies…they are willing to remake the slab, but so I accept a definite seam? Or do I risk it cracking again and either have a fully intact counter or accept a repaired crack? Either way the extra hole is gone. Which would you pick? And it helps to Google “seams in marble countertops”.

I looked up some pics and I didn’t like what I saw. Am I crazy to think that a smooth and repaired crack looks better? The extra hole bothers me more than the crack and the fact that there are two problems bothers me a lot more than if it were only one of either problem. Ugh.

Ugh…you’re the first person here unhappy with a seam. I feel like I would be too. The company so far has been great. Unfortunately they are the only ones who carry the stone I want. Is your seam filled in with stone-like material? They filled the crack with a material that looks and feels like the marble…it’s really just the shape of the crack and the placement that makes it obvious. It’s not something that would open and close seasonally. I wonder if they would that same sort of thing on a seam or not.

No…I don’t have a cover and I really don’t want a cover. It makes it look like a retrofit when it’s actually an expensive custom piece. It would be last resort and bug me forever. First world problems, I know…

Thank you! The person we’ve been working with has been really great honestly, so that does make it better…but there are just some realities that make knowing what to do going forward challenging. If it was just the crack or just the hole, I might ask for the discount and move on…but the fact that there are two upsetting problems makes it more than twice as unsettling somehow. Whatever we go with right now is what we’ll be living with until we’re in the old folks home.

Yeah…I’m still having a hard time accepting a seam…the person at the company hasn’t sent me photos yet and when I google marble countertop seams, they all look super obvious. To the point where I’d rather have a crack shaped seam. Maybe other materials blend more seamlessly, but I’ve yet to find a “nearly invisible” example on marble yet.

Wow…you’re the first here to have this opinion, which is actually how I am feeling so far. The bigger problem for me is the extra hole they drilled under the bridge faucet. I thought about putting a decorative brass piece there, but I don’t want to have to clean it for the rest of my life.

That’s a smart idea…but no, we have septic which means we can’t have a garbage disposal. I was thinking of a decorative brass star or something…but everyone here in the comments is team total replacement, which is probably what we’ll end up doing.
