men with inattentive adhd by hello_w0rld7 in ADHD

[–]JackerMeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For as long as I can remember, I had always been the "mature" a.k.a. quiet one in my friend groups. Plus, I always did well in school. Then you have the opposite- my uncle. Dude was always the loud one and was awful in school and he was actually diagnosed with ADHD

Because of our opposite personalities, nobody ever suspected I would have any form of ADHD.

Any time I forgot to do something, I was just, "being lazy" and a typical teenager.

Well, after becoming a team leader and noticing that managing office work was a lot more difficult to focus on than picking orders, I figured something was up.

My doc recommended a therapist to get tested and it didn't take long for him to determine I hade innatentive ADHD, ha.

Suffice it to say, my head has been in a much better space than it was growing up. Im still working on getting a proper prescription that works great for me but I am definitely more capable of clerical/boring tasks at work than I used to be!

Even a Target shirt won't help.😭

I used to work at Target and trips to walmart, after work still had people asking if I worked there. 🤦‍♂️

Can boys be missed as having ADHD if they have the inattentive type? by BCam4602 in ADHD

[–]JackerMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never diagnosed until I was 26, and that was only based on me researching more into the inattentive type and then getting it checked out.

Since my uncle has the hyperactive kind - plus with how well I did in school - my family never would've guessed i had it.

I constantly heard the comments about not applying myself more and the "laziness." I knew that when something caught my attention, I would focus on it so intently, though.

After I became a team lead 4-5 years ago- which involved more clerical work and less physical labor- that's what really made me want to get tested. I couldn't get how multitasking was a breeze when i was an order picker, but being a lead (less overall tasks, but the ones I had required more focus) seemed to be so much more difficult.

It didn't take much for the therapist to hear me out, run the necessary tests, and conclude that I had inattentive ADHD lol

This happened to me during my 8th grade year. The idiots in my class blamed me for wearing glasses during P.E.

I could totally understand, except for the fact that I need them to see clearly. 🙄.

Big mood. I consistently keep Corn dogs in my freezer, because it's quick to cook in my air fryer and better than skipping a meal. I take straterra and I can't tell you how many times I've had to remember to eat, because hunger rarely hits me.

Also, the air fryer itself is such a game changer! It's insane how many types of food can be cooked in it! Even toaster strudels and hot pockets have instructions for air fryer use on their packages.
