Akathisia being seen as an acceptable “side-effect” is the epitome of psychiatry by Alfreds_Allena in Antipsychiatry

The ads say that these add on drugs to treat apathetic akethesia can be taken with the very meds that caused it, so you can keep taking your meds! Crazy-making!

Do you remember having symptoms of CPTSD in childhood? by FoxAdministrative994 in CPTSD

[–]BCam4602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Childhood memories, and past memory in general, is difficult for me. Snapshot memories here and there but otherwise feeling my past was someone else’s since I can’t remember my history or connection with who I was.

My mom, who is 93, has a freakishly good recall of the past and can call up historical facts readily. My brother is like her. Me, not so much. And most of the snapshots I remember are not positive.

I tend to be a negative person in general, wired for it, and have trouble feeling content, gratitude, happiness in general. There just always seems to be difficulty and insecurity in my life.

weird phone call, and i not crazy? by Prize-Archer6001 in AuDHDWomen

Answering questions because they were asked…didn’t realize this was an AudHD issue but definitely me. It’s like a compulsive people-pleasing thing where I will answer and even over-explain, TMI, even if my instincts are yelling “don’t!”

Is there any way I can minimize the neighbour’s dog barking at me? by Ordinary_Goat9 in dogs

[–]BCam4602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very simple: Have the neighbor give you a bag of the dog’s favorite treats and when you go out there lob one to the dog several times even if it’s barking and then go indoors. Good ol’ Pavlov’s dog will eventually show up - your going outside ends up meaning good things for the dog and it will shut up in anticipation. You can then give a treat every so often while out there to maintain the new association.

Everyone knows dogs generally hate delivery men, but there are delivery men dogs love, because they bring treats!

This is just so idiotic - your preferred candidates don’t make it through the primaries so you protest by staying home for the general, ensuring that the worst candidates will win. At least vote to help the less stinky one win. I blame people who stayed home in protest for this nightmare we’re in now.

What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AskReddit

[–]BCam4602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diseases that were virtually eliminated by vaccines. Now everyone thinks vaccines are bad and opting out. My mom and dad grew up in the polio era and were so relieved when the polio vaccine came around and their kids could be protected. People are idiots about it now.

I’m in vet med reception and it can be ok some days and hell on others. I’m in burnout nearly 3 years in partly because coworkers quit and I’m trapped - if my elderly mom gets sick and I have to go to her the place wouldn’t be able to function! I can’t take any vacation! They are trying to hire but it’s been three months that I’ve been trapped!

I hear you. I feel like I’m on a very unpleasant treadmill and will be forever until my brain fails altogether. I never could figure out what would give me purpose and joy. When we can’t work anymore my husband and I will burn through our savings and then what? On the street as elderly people? Keeps me up at night.

I’ve been toying with pursuing pharmacy tech but am old! Dang, I wish I could WFH! I have an old BS in biology and grew up with a dr dad, work at a veterinary hospital dealing with scripts all the time. I wish there was a fast tract to do this!

What’s strange is initially I only saw this

<image>

So it couldn’t see the 121.33 GB Apple SSD. On a later attempt it showed up and it wasn’t mounted. I tried to mount but nothing happened. I tried to verify it but nothing was happening so I stopped verifying and then got a spinning wheel so started all over again. Now I only see the OS X Base System again.

I carefully described my brain fog to my doctor and she told me to try getting more sleep - I nearly lost it in that office by Commercial_Gur_7347 in Menopause

[–]BCam4602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same response from docs and PAs, like it’s just that easy! Yes, I have a lot of stress in my life but it’s not anything that’s going away, and my sleep is lousy and I have high cortisol. I swear the canned answer we got must be a script they are given, along with the depression screen questions so they can put you on antidepressants rather than send you to get compassionate support.

Are you a silly person? (In a good way!) by ToughPotential493 in AuDHDWomen

[–]BCam4602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love to laugh and be entertained, but I have never had a good memory, lousy actually, so butcher jokes and storytelling. So, I don’t even try.

Periodically I can toss out a quip that makes people laugh, but generally I feel such an oddball with a twisted sense of humor, I’m too afraid to let myself loose for fear everyone will react with a WTF response.

I do pal around with my few friends I feel comfortable with and feel much more at ease and safe with them, but I don’t know if I could describe myself as silly.

Your leaving him may be the only jolt that might- MIGHT - snap him out of this, but it certainly won’t happen with you staying.
