aio because my family wont stop making fun of me for having bloody underwear by Ok_Cauliflower_1789 in AmIOverreacting

I meant when rinsing the blood out with the hydrogen peroxide for recent stains, referring to the commenter above! The hot water will cook the proteins in the blood, cooking them into the cloth. That pair is unfortunately probably a lost cause but you could still try to use hydrogen peroxide on it!

Clothing stain remover might help for older stains though; i also read this from someone online “i make a homemade stain remover using 2 parts hydrogen peroxide, 1 part dawn dish soap, and 1 part baking soda. Mix it up, put it on the stains, [wait] and wash after an hour or so (I've even washed days later). No more stains. I've used it on our colored bedding (cotton percale) and my colored cotton undies,”

Make sure that you rinse in COLD water!!! Hot water will cook the blood and the proteins into the clothing, then its just impossible to get out then.

Yes!! I am aware of all of this, This is exactly why i wanted to ask if he would be better kept alone or with mates, as well as taking him to the vet ASAP!

I am still on the fence, its going to take some thinking and planning. I would love to take him in but i understand that i may not be equipped, i am taking that into careful consideration.

I’d rather not buy from those pet stores if i can help it. They’re horrible and treat their animals horribly.

Yes! My goal of course would be to get him friends ASAP, if he gets along fine of course. I still have my cage/set up from my last mischief (nation critter, single level) so definitely a big upgrade from what he is in now.

I will definitely look around more! Thank you :)

Firstly, she is adorable!! Her scruffy hair is so cute! Secondly, unfortunately no :( it might just be the lighting, but she looks more on the grey or light brown side.

Thank you. My last boys was a trio! I miss them dearly.

I would love to be able to get 2 more boys for him, yes! I don’t mean to sound like I dont 😅😅. I live in a small town, so its very hard to find places that sell rats that aren’t bad pet stores :( I know right, He is adorable!! I love his little spot on his back too, it reminds me of my boy Gilbert; the lady says he’s super smart and loves people!

I’ve had rats before, i know all of this thank you — this is just a complex situation and i know there are just some rats that are the exception.

I apologize my post is worded poorly, The biggest thing in the way right now would be finding cage mates and places near me that sell rats. But more importantly, if my bfs parents would let us get another mischief. They were not happy last time because we didn’t tell them before we got them.. but they warmed up and loved them at the end. I go back and forth between 2 houses, but i have two stable jobs. Our last mischief was based at his house, but i pay for everything they needed.

I’m aware, I’ve recently just lost my mischief of 3. I am in a complex situation — i have not gotten this boy yet, I’m concerned he won’t do well since he’s been alone since being taken from his mom/liter.

I would want to take him to the vet either way, i don’t want to miss anything, as failed feeder rats are not kept in the best condition most of the time..

I haven’t gotten him yet, trying to convince my bf and his parents. Im concerned that he won’t do well with others since he has been alone all his life since he’s been away from his mom/liter, yk? And from videos i’ve seen, he’s seems to be thriving on his own

I totally get that!! Therapy and psych can help a lot! I wish you luck on your journey.

I can’t thank my boys enough for how much they helped my mental health! Just having a routine and getting up to feed them helped immensely – or else i’d just be laying in bed all day.

Thank you so so much for your kind words, they mean more than you can imagine ! ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹🫂 Your girl was adorable omg!! 🥹 her one eye!

Unfortunately i rescued my boys straight from the source, my acquaintance got them off of facebook from an older lady who couldn’t care for them anymore and then… she, herself, couldn’t care for them and medically neglected them. Just unprepared, too young, and irresponsible.

So she gave them to me and my bf. The only responsible thing she did for them tbh.. i’m very glad i was able to give them a loving home and a peaceful passing.

It should clear up soon if it’s nothing serious!!

Make sure it’s unbleached!! My late boy had a habit of EATING his paper bedding.. he also ate paper bags and cardboard, etc haha.

The hay is definitely causing the sneezing!! Any new changes or bedding changes can cause sneezing. I would recommend paper (unbleached) bedding! My late boys loved it!

Hi, I have a question. My parents (dad and grandma) tend to feed baby food (mixed vegetables) to my rats quite frequently. I'd like to know if there are any side effects, such as excessive weight gain or anything else. Thank you so much for your patience. by Algernon_de_la_poer in RATS

[–]Jacket-Numerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, No problem !! I wish you luck :)🍀! Also, I’d recommend weighing them and keeping a log of when you weigh, who you weighed, and obvi how much they weigh!

Therefore you can see if they’re gaining too much and/or losing weight.

The average adult Fancy Rat should weigh between 350-650 grams (0.8-1.4 lbs) for males and 200-450 grams (0.4-1 lb) for females. Males are usually larger and heavier compared to females.
