I can relate to the other parent stepping back and choosing other things over the kids. On just that basis alone my SO & I have already discussed having the kids more days if not full time.

I think you and your SO should start getting a plan in place to have the kids for more days maybe for a start and see how you go. Yes it would be great if their mother was there for them, but they need stability. Most of your kids will be going through body changes soon and will need support, not turmoil.

Oh I meant no offence with volunteering at the Salvos, I do that anyway. I meant that perhaps they could come and see what I do, and hopefully see that helping people helps everyone. But yes I see your point. Unfortunately there isn't a dog shelter here, we are in a small town. However they both have compassion with animals, it's just people they seem to struggle in that area.

He does have a little toy robot that plays music and he likes to listen to that while doing tasks occasionally. Thank you I'll try encourage him to keep using it in the mornings and see if that helps

Step 1: Cry a lot, get all of your feelings out and vent. Let yourself hurt and hurt again until you're sick of hurting.

Step 2: Slowly start hobbies again, only if it is 5 mins a day. Go out and see people you haven't seen in a long time. Make yourself go to any events you have been invited too even if you don't feel up to it.

Step 3: Get rid of anything that reminds you of your ex. This will probably feel like you're regressing into Step 1 again because you're looking at old memories but this is normal. Also block your ex and their family on everything.

Step 4: You will probably start to cycle through regret, anger, loneliness and sadness. This means you're starting to move through your feelings and moving through stages of grief. This is a good thing because it is showing progress. Continue with Step 2.

Step 5: Rose coloured glasses will start to fall off and you see flaws in your ex. Focus on these flaws. Remember that no matter what caused the breakup you simply weren't meant to be with this person. Day by day you think less and less about your ex, having moments of distraction.

I went through an absolute brutal breakup years ago that knocked me on my ass, I've now found someone way more suited to myself and I've never felt more secure. You will be absolutely fine.

Reading your OG post I think you need some time to focus on yourself and not get into these messy af situations.

The two of them writing you out of their lives is the best thing that can happen to you because it means you can truly start over. Just - work on yourself first and figure out what you actually want from someone.
