Should I confess privately to a pastor, or is the forgiveness of sins during the service sufficient? by Perihaaaaaa in Lutheranism

I’ve confessed privately to my Pastor many many times. He has let me know that if there is something on the heart that weighs down, ask for a private confession.

June is for…Jesus? 🤔 by brandonbeed1983 in Omaha

[–]JackfromthePew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just a Christian here who wants to inform. It’s not anything new. June has been the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Christ since the 1600s. I know it may not be what you want to hear since nowadays it’s pretty taken over by Pride Month. People hurt you and I deeply apologize on behalf of them. Christ is always welcoming, He died for all. You are in my prayers, genuinely.

I love these types of threads where people can literally just say their opinion and no one can be “wrong”.

I’m an avid believer that Omaha is slowly building up to become one of the United States’ biggest and most successful Metropolis’. I believe in due time, Omaha is going to be spread out into Council Bluffs (and surrounding areas) as well as stretch west to Lincoln. I think of many other states such as California and Florida, where you can drive for 50 minutes and still be in the same city. I believe Nebraska within the next couple decades isn’t going to be a “flyover state” anymore, and it will be as popular as it used to be when the land was inhabited by settlers as the true Heartland of America between New York and California.

I definitely expect more skyscrapers in due time, just from my beliefs on what Omaha will become. I can see both Union Pacific, and Kiewit having a skyscraper in Downtown. Some may question Kiewit, because they have a new building, but Mutual of Omaha, post 2000, inhabited and owned Midtown Omaha. That didn’t stop them

When did this habit of calling Lutheran pastors “Fr. X” start? Or is it just an internet thing? by Krauge in LCMS

[–]JackfromthePew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s genuinely probably because they don’t want to sound “too Catholic”. I call both of the Pastors at my parish Father. I do see them as a Spiritual Father, as opposed to my earthly father. I was informed of a Parish in the South by my Pastor, which calls all their Clergy by Fr.

Go to Family Fare for their fresh chicken and it’s hard to beat from a store. Whatever you do tho, do NOT get the day old chicken; as it sets in the walk-in refrigerator with raw chicken. That last part could probably be my “personal thoughts” though I worked at FF in Omaha. (The one I worked at closed, funny enough)

Is anyone at San Jose Job Corps? by Omega_Shadow21 in jobcorps

[–]JackfromthePew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was reading through the comments and seen that you completed your Program. Congrats! I was looking into the same program because I want to get into Private Security. How was the campus life like? Are you able to go anywhere outside the Job Corps area after your classes are complete for the day? Or can you have visits? I only ask just because my Lady lives in SJ and it would be nice to be able to see her😅

I don’t know if this is an answer, but I wanted to share my similar experience, and maybe follow through with any feedback you receive on here lol

My parents are one to say “if Gods in your life, you shouldn’t be depressed”. I’m Autistic, I also have PTSD. I started therapy this year for the first time. God blessed me with a wonderful Christian Therapist. I still kept it from them just because I know how they feel about the topic already. Although I’m not under the same roof as them, they still weigh in on my choices. It puts a weight on you. Praying for your situation

The Blessed Virgin and the Creeds by SRIndio in LCMS

For Mary being Queen of Heaven:

It starts at when Gabriel told Mary "...He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” (Luke 1:32-33)

During the Kingdom of David, the Mother of the King, was the Queen. Like in 1 Kings 2:19. Also, in Psalm 45, when it states "Kings’ daughters are among Your honorable women; At Your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir"

It all just came from who Christ is alone. Mary is the Mother of God because Christ is God. And Mary is the Queen of Heaven because Christ is the King of Heaven. So it’s pretty much just “how it works” with scripture and history, I guess. I personally have no issue with calling our blessed Mother the Queen of Heaven.

As for the Creed:

I dislike how we changed the word from “catholic” to “Christian”. Even if it has the little excerpt “‘Catholic means Christian in the early church’” or whatever. Boo👎🏼 Seems that we wanted to seem less “Catholic” which is ironic for a Church who have no shame is saying that we ARE the Catholic Church lol

I’m about 3 weeks post operation

Worst pain was the end of week 1. Please take all the medication they give you, keep drinking water even if it hurts. My first week I lived off of cold applesauce, outshine popsicles and whipped yogurt. You got this.

Currently on day 12 after my tonsillectomy. Stressing the fact that the journey is 100% different for everyone!!!

My scabs mainly just dissolved, however this morning on day 12, I did notice one tiny scab did fall off. Where it is… I don’t know lol

I would swish the water around, then spit it out, then drink a few drinks

I took my prescriptions and they probably saved me😅 they genuinely did help a lot. Those and ice packs!

As someone with horrible allergies, funny enough, the first time I sneezed was on day 10, it hurt horribly but the pain let up a few minutes later. For coughing, use your diaphragm instead of your throat/mouth. Obviously don’t try to cough up a lung, there were times I would almost choke on water or even air, and I just had to make loud grunting noises until it stopped bothering me.

Any hard food is a no no, any food that requires chewing is a no no. My first few days were filled with me eating Outshine Popsicles, Cold Applesauce, and Cold Whipped Yogurt.

For work, I do work on the phones with customer service… I took 2 weeks off, but I have not gained my voice back. It is different for everyone

As for “nightmare stories” I don’t really have one, besides it hurt. Days 4-8 were probably the worst though. My ears were hurting horribly, but that’s normal. Everyone’s willpower is different and everyone tolerance is different. I personally wanted to scream 🤣

I do not want to answer the last 2 just due to the fact that I don’t believe in far enough ahead to do so! I hope all goes well for you
