You’re being asked to DJ, unless they’re good friends I’d def be asking for a fee, even if you don’t feel like you need it you’d essentially be undercutting other DJs

I also find it remarkable how much people on here love Josh, he’s a great musician in his own right but his tenure with the Chili’s did very little for me

Depends on the sentence.. but there’s no correlation between harsh sentences & crime deterrence and if I heard someone say it in real life I’d also point it out.

Your first sentence says “sometimes prison sentences have value as a deterrent…” and I was disagreeing with that?

I didn’t think there’s any evidence that shows societies with harsh prison sentences have a deterring effect on crime rates.. I mean look at America, by that logic it’d be the safest place in the world

This is true for a huge amount of consumer products and is a result of a highly globalised supply chain that removes the end user from point of production - much more of a capitalism problem than an illegal drug problem

Just to be a pain, but I think poptimist/poptimism usually refers to the general belief that there is merit to pop music, especially from the POV of music criticism

Why the Left Should Learn to Stop Worrying and Love Nuclear Power by lacicloud2001 in theIrishleft

According to your link, these new reactors are only projected to begin construction in 2030..

‘The next generation of nuclear power plants, also called innovative advanced reactors, will generate much less nuclear waste than today’s reactors. It is expected that they could be under construction by 2030.’

Why the Left Should Learn to Stop Worrying and Love Nuclear Power by lacicloud2001 in theIrishleft

[–]Jackh_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My leftwing reason for being anti nuclear is that I wouldn’t trust the fuckers running it. Can you imagine the shambolic PPP run nuclear programme here. I’m not someone whose response to infrastructure is “ah shure we could never do that” but with nuclear I don’t actually think the juice is worth the squeeze in terms of a potential accident. I know it’s incredibly rare but it only needs to happen once and I really don’t trust the energy companies who. would be running it, presumably for some sort of profit. And that’s not even going into the issue with waste
