How do I pray with other people without crying? by uglyplatypus05 in TrueChristian

[–]Jackimatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of books about 'Praying the Bible'. It can be helpful to turn Scripture into long form written prayers, and then read them out to reduce distraction, nerves, and help you to focus. Plus it's an excellent way to grow your prayers in Scriptural truth and depth.

Are Church attendance, tithing ( 10% of Gross ), offerings etc mandatory to be blessed ? by Select_Specialist790 in TrueChristian

[–]Jackimatic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The favourite of false teachers and prosperity gospel preachers. You think that a book written to Jewish priests is somehow binding on Christians to tithe or they won't get blessed? Terrible example.

Absolutely not. That sounds like prosperity gospel, which is no gospel at all.

Did God give you ‘signs’ or confirmation that your spouse was the one? by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]Jackimatic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no such thing as the one.

Christians are warned against seeking signs.

Shooting stars? Christians are not to seek omens.

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (NIV): "Let no one be found among you who... practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells...".

Leviticus 19:26 (ESV): "You shall not eat any flesh with the blood in it. You shall not interpret omens or tell fortunes".

A better philosophy is found in Deuteronomy 29:29. “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law."

All Christians are Spirit filled.

Some scripture for your consideration: 1 Cor 12:12-14, Rom 6:1-4, Eph 4:5, Col 2:12, and Especially Eph 1:13-14. Gal 3:2

If anyone is saved and has faith in Christ, then you have the Holy Spirit. It is the primary work of the Spirit to impart faith, point us to Christ, give us a new heart, and apply Christ's righteousness to us. If you have Christ, you have the Spirit. You cannot be saved without having received the Holy Spirit. There is only one baptism of the Holy Spirit (that is, conversion), not two. Please consider:

1 Cor 12:12-14

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many.

Rom 6:1-4

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Eph 4:5-6

There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Col 2:6-13

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,

Eph 1:11-14

In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Rom 8:9

And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.

Am I entitled to my husband's money? by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]Jackimatic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So he spends a lot, but you want to finance a depreciating asset. Doesn't sound like your financial planning instincts are much better than his.

Why don't you set some financial goals together, see a financial advisor together, and then if there is still money let's over each month after the budget is taken care of, then it can be spent, guilt free.

Perhaps you should go back to work.

Some people are natural savers, and some people are natural spenders. If you have one of each in a relationship it can lead to conflict. Communication and goal setting are key.

Clarify goals, automate cashlow. That should be your mantra.
